ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

I just about did online check in last night but just don't know which would be safer to do for connecting rooms. They certainly are there in the reservation and I understand they trump any other request I would make so maybe it doesn't make a difference. I was thinking if I requested buildings that where a little away from the bridge like Aruba 52 and Jamaica 42, or maybe really radical and Barabdos 15, I might get both the connecting rooms and a building I want. Mostly I'm trying to get one that wouldn't put us looking out over the parking lot as I'm only getting a standard view. We are walkers so we don't mind that part of it. Barabdos 15 doesn't look like it would be a whole lot longer a walk to the main pool then either the Aruba or Jamaica ones just around the end of the lake rather then over it. So what should I do check in now or wait till I get there? If do online and I get there and they haven't given us connecting rooms how hard is it to see if it to try to get it changed? If we didn't get connecting rooms it would be more difficult for us but certainly not the end of the world, though the kids were looking forward to having a bed to themselves and not sharing with one of their sisters. Of course DH and I would have to split up as I understand even though our oldest will be 16 she can't stay in a room with her sister as there has to be someone 18 years in it....how do all these dance/cheer/sports group manage to do this? Oh well any advice on this would be helpful!:crazy2:

This is my take. Online check-in saves a step. The resort will have the info they need already on file and be able to have your packet ready when you arrive. For every CM that says online check-in messes with your requests, there is another who says it does not. There are guests who do online check-in and get their request. There are guests who do not do online check-in and still do not get their request.
A request is a request is a request. Like you said it's noted on your reservation and since you are breaking up a family unit into 2 rooms they will do their best to honor your particular request.
Worst case scenario... you do online check-in and when you get there the rooms are not connecting. All you need to do is say we really need to have connecting rooms. If there is something available, we would be willing to wait. They will look and may quite possibly find something.
If you don't care where you are in CBR, I would not make any further requests. If connecting rooms is your priority, I would leave the building/floor options wide open. I would do online check-in and NOT check the box that says we would like our room to be ready as a priority over having our requests met. That's how I see it. Others may disagree.:goodvibes

I would call and note your reservations but not do online check in. That way while you are standing there you can see what they have available and what they can do for you. Also... I did online check in today. My only request was Jamaica and when I hit submit I got an error message that none of my requests went through but everything else did:headache:. And there is no way to fix it. So now I'll have to cross my fingers and hope that noting it when I made the reservation was enough. So annoyed with that website.

You can try and check-in online again and see if it goes through. You can do it as many times as you like, actually. The "new" website, that it sounds like you can't get in Canada, even has a button that says "modify check-in".

WE ARE FINALLY BOOKED! I know that probably seems weird lol but DH kept waiting and waiting and waiting for airfare to go down. I saw cheap flights into Tampa and a cheap car rental that we should have jumped on last week but he was convinced that flying directly into Orlando was going to get cheaper. Well, it didn't lol but we missed out on the cheap flights and airfare to Tampa so we just booked with JetBlue (knowing that if the flights get cheaper, we'll be given a credit and I'll have enough miles to get a free flight next time! Woo!)

Anywho, I didn't book the hotel because I was waiting for him to book the flights so finally! Everything is done! Now we just have to get out tickets (DH gets a little bit of a discount through work) and we are all set to go!

This post just made me check to see if my flights that I had previously booked got any cheaper. And much to my surprise each flight for $127 cheaper. So I now have a $254 credit with Jet blue. All that means is its time to start planning the next flight seeing that airfare is going to be much cheaper next time!

So if you do in person check in you can ask them what choices we have rather then just let them give me a room? It might be nice if they gave us a couple of options to choose from as I would love not to be looking out on a parking lot but of course for the amount of time we will be in our rooms even that isn't a huge thing.
Sounds like there is issue with the online check for Canadian any how so maybe I should just wait. I guess the thing with doing online is it's more of a way to make the trip "real" an know your going to be there soon. Oh well it will be her before I know it as we have the kids in loads of camps for the next month and then the first part of August will be getting ready for the trip and getting school stuff since that has to be all ready to go before we leave since we only have a day before school when we get back. :thumbsup2

We're planning to be at AK on 8/3 too! But our Yak and Yeti ADR is for earlier in the day. And we have an ADR at Via Napoli on the 6th for our anniversary! 7:45pm. Subject to change though because I'm looking into a possible split stay myself...

We will be at AK on 8/3 also with a Yak and Yeti ADR earlier also. It's my son's birthday and that is what he requested.

Our reservation has changed a little, if you want to switch us! Now 8/17 to 8/24...staying at POR instead of Beach Club.

Buying annual passes since we are going in November too and just talked DH into booking for spring break! Wooohooo!!!

QOTD! (The benefits of waking up at 5:30 in the morning for no apparent reason lol)

What time is everyone landing in Orlando and what do you do for your first day?

I usually try to get one of the first flights out so this time we are leaving JFK at 7:30 and landing at 10:10. Hopefully, we'll be at Pop by 11-11:15. I don't usually make plans for the first day since you never know what can happen with flights. So once we are checked in, we get on whichever bus comes first (as long as its one of the parks easywdw has as a recommended park). On the 16th, it's MK, HS, or AK. We are going to AK the next day so we'll either be at MK or HS and then DTD for dinner :)

I see you will be attending MVMCP for the first time this year. We love it! The Christmas parade is our absolute favorite, and we love getting hot chocolate and cookies throughout the night. It is such an awesome event!

We drive, so we will be getting there Saturday morning around 10am or so (after spending the previous night in Jacksonville). It's a resort down day for us, so we will be exploring POR (for the first time) and pool hopping at POFQ (we've stayed there before). The kids are so excited to have a trip where we will finally get to enjoy the resorts and pools!

Our flight leaves From Buffalo at 8am and arrives in Orlando at 10:40 am.

We usually just hang out at our resort and go to DTD on arrival day, but this year we are upgrading our tickets to AP's. So I figure we will probably hit a park or two!
