We are a family of 5, so most of the resorts are out for family trips unless we do 2 rooms. Thinking it might be fun to try someplace different that we wouldn't normally be able to visit.

This is an issue for us too! I really wish they would add trundles to the rooms at CBR - though we liked POR, I really prefer the Carribbean theming!

My youngest was only 2 for our first visit to CBR, so we were okay with occupancy and DH and I stayed there on our anniversary trip. Thinking of staying there again in February since it will just be me and possibly another friend. My other thought is AoA though - the pictures look so awesome and I would love to stay there :yay:

AoA is very nice. I think the suites are overpriced but we're able to stay there this time because of a discount and a friend joining us. The LM rooms there are great though and the themeing of the whole place is awesome.

Please add us! Me, DH, DD and DS at AKL from 8/17-8/24.

Oh my goodness!!!! So my DH just called me to say he can get us free flights to Orlando!!! But then he asks "how much did we figure for gas?" I said "about $600" and he said, "yeah, it's not worth flying then, because renting a mini-van (6 of us) is $1200" for our nearly 2 week stay. I just want to cry! I don't want to drive with an 8, 10, 12 and 14 year old!!!!!!! I could shorten the trip... that could help. We got a rental house for only $880 for 11 nights, so there's no way staying on-site and using their transportation could make up for that. *sigh* I HAVE to figure something out!!!:crazy2::sad:

I've used codes from there. I just input the code I find on the actual car rental website. I don't want to guarantee you anything at all but I KNOW you can get that rental lower. How much lower is anyones guess. Join the August car rental thread on the transportation board. Everyone posts their tips and codes. I know Gina (in this thread) has a pretty good rate with a code she used. I am still waiting but they will come down the closer we get. I've never paid more than 250 for a rental and that's usually 10 day stays. However, there is only four of us so we've used full sized cars and vans.
So watch that thread, try the codes, post your questions in there and start checking the sites daily. When the prices start to drop they can drop several times in one day and then be way back up the next day.
I always book the lowest I can find (don't prepay but just put something on hold) and then when it gets close I use the "Name Your Own Price" feature on Priceline. By close I mean the week before we go. I figure out what I am willing to spend, add in the taxes and fees and make my bid. You can specify van only, and it only checks the car rental companies that are IN the Orlando airport when you select MCO. I've gotten some very good deals that way.
Again, I think you could get this rental under $500 for sure, but it will take some work. :)

There's an August car rental thread??? Wow! This has everything!!! Lol!! There's probably so much I'm missing!! Anyway, thanks for the great info!! I'm working on steering him in that direction. Hope it works!! Problem is, he loves to drive. Ugh.

Try the Vroom Vroom contract ID 299851. I was able to get a SUV for 10 days for $323.

I just checked 14 nights in a minivan 8/14-28 and the price was $742, still high but less than $1200. Depending on your exact dates you may be able to find a coupon code on top of that.

I have a mid-sized SUV through National for $251 including taxes and fees (and a whole whack of extra insurance coverages) for 8 days using the KLM Flying Blue code and a coupon from the Entertainment Book. You can find all the details here:

The KLM program is free to join and open to everyone. :thumbsup2

Definitely join our August car rental thread as well!:

You might want to be careful with that particular code.....there have been some reports on the transportation board that it was refused at the counter by Alamo staff. Those reports indicated that the code was only to be used by visitors who reside outside of North America. My rental was a slightly better rate (by $15) with the Vroom Vroom code vs. the KLM Flying Blue code, but after the reports of refusal, I decided the $15 was worth my peace of mind and decided to go (for now) with National.

Hopefully we will all see some reductions in rates within the next month or so :thumbsup2 . I would love to get my rental down under $200!

Just got BOG!!!! Now I have to move our trip back a day...Am I completely crazy???

So, while waiting for the bus, monorail, or boat do you just ask the cast member there? Just a simple "do you have any transportation cards?"

Basically Yes, For the bus you would ask the driver, boat - crew CM's or captain, Monorail - CM's at the station's

You might want to ask them- Maybe you can help me out ,You wouldn't happen to have any transportation cards:confused3,, it just sounds better then do you have any transportation cards:confused3

AoA is our favorite resort, so far. We stayed in LM rooms the night they opened! Highly recommend.:thumbsup2

I am SO HAPPY for you!! I have been trying to get a better time--we have a 9:30, but I haven't had any luck

The only other suggestion I have is you want to be discreet when asking, IMO if others hear you asking everyone is going to want one, and being that they only have a handful if any at all, the less attention the better the chances of scoring:thumbsup2
