Ahhhhhhhhhhhh I'm so excited!! I just booked the keys to the kingdom tour for me and my husband!! He will be soooo excited! I can't wait to surprise him! He's always wanting to go do stuff without the kids, and I usually want to do everything together, so he will be quite surprised! I am feeling a little guilty leaving the kids, but its only for half a day and they will be hanging with their grandma, so they'll be having fun, right?

Now I just need to decide when and how to tell him...any ideas?

I'm booking this for us too! This is what I'm MOST excited about for this trip!

:welcome: to our thread :) . If you are looking for people to help boost your excitement level, you have come to the right place. We have a whole host of August cheerleaders that are eagerly counting down the days!

Is there any way you can squeeze in a day at Cocoa Beach (or one of the gulf beaches) during your stay to satisfy your inner beach bum? Maybe trade out one of your park days for renting a car and embarking on a little day trip?

Thanks.

We don't want to leave WDW once we are there. I will be at the beach a few times a week all summer but it will be Long Island sound which where I live, I can see my feet on some days, lol!

It wouldn't be the same/relaxing so I can just wait. I will just have to deal with the tropical beach of the poly, well the pool since there is no swimming. I just can't believe we used to swim in that....

SenecaWolf,

Can you please send a lime green mickey head my way. Plan to make copies and plaster my windows at POR with it:goodvibes Anyone of them is fine.
TIA

Opinions - What is too long of a Disney stay? We're already planning next years trip too and definitely want it longer than this years, but don't want to burn out. It will be in late Nov/early Dec if that makes a difference.

I think it depends on the family, but I'd probably be ready to get back to normal by 2 weeks.

For us 9 nights and 10 days is perfect. We stayed for 12 nights once and it was too long. My kids were homesick and we were wandering through Epcot talking about how we missed the cats:blush:
However.. ds was weepy and I wasn't sure why. He got really sick as we were checking out and we spent two weeks in the hospital the day we got home because his appendix had ruptured:worried:
I think that had something to do with how done we were. He wasn't starting to feel unwell towards the end and we were all exhausted.
So 10 days is about perfect for us:)

Our longest Disney stay was 5 nights, with an extra night in Georgia on the way down. We were supposed to stay in Georgia again on the way back, but I was getting ancy at that point, so we drove straight home the final day. For me, that is probably the longest I would be away, but we generally prefer 3 to 4 nights at Disney. I understand this is not the norm, but I'm always concerned about budget creep, and the longer we stay means the more money we spend. What keeps us from getting burnt out is having reasonably priced Disney trips that leave enough reserves for us to return the following year!

I could happily do two weeks, but with an aging cat and an aging mom combined with the inability to be away from work for that amount of time, we just can't be away that long.

In a perfect world, though, I'd totally like to do two weeks. It would make our airfare costs a heck of a lot less painful to bear, and it would give lots of time for relaxing between the playing :) .

I think 7-10 days would probably be good. Some of it depends on how you're traveling and if you go commando or take breaks. We've done 6 & 7 day trips where we went commando and we were moused out by the end of the week. Last trip we vowed we would have a break day planned in the middle from the big parks, plus we're kind of hoping to take midday breaks as well, but we'll see if that actually happens or not. I think it's hard to leave the parks with the kids once you're actually in them. The longest vacation I've done was 2 weeks in Italy and I thought that was about 3 days too long. There's so much to do that less than a week would feel very rushed. Next year the plan is to go either 8 days of parks/water parks with breaks or 5 days of parks and 3 days of cruising.

Also, if you're driving that can be a bit of wear and tear on you as well. You need a recovery day on the front and back of the trip if you travel that way.

If the budget allowed, we would stay 10 days. We usually do 6N, 7D. This year we are looking forward to 7n, 8D. We really like to hit the parks hard while we're there, but with some extra time we would slow down and enjoy the resort, too.

The longest trip I've ever taken was 11 nights, 12 days but I LOVED IT! I prefer longer trips because then we get the chance to go back to the room midday for a swim or to lounge by the pool then head back to the parks for dinner at night. We also do Universal so we need 2 extra days for their parks, but our usual trips are between 8-10 days. This Aug. will be 10 nights, 11 days.

Geez.. can we just go now please?:rolleyes1
I'm excited for this trip every day, but some days I just want to be there right.this.very.second.

This would be one of those moments! It's pouring rain and a Tuesday night. 3 more looonnnggg work days until the weekend. Maybe I need to plan a weekend getaway for the summer afterall. Something to break up all this waiting:rolleyes1
