Cost Comparison: Disney Cruise vs. Disneyworld?

I think if you're comparing the two, then you need to either add the cost of excursions to the cruise, or take away the cost of park tickets from WDW. I think that would add to the 'fairness' in the comparison.

Appropriate age to take along a daughters friend

OP - would YOU let YOUR child go on a cruise with the BFF's family? That might be one of the gut-checks you need to do. BTW, I do think it's a very lovely and generous offer. I'm not sure about the age though. As others have said, "it depends".

    Shawarma on magic

I had one and thought it was just ok. The pita really wasn't very fresh, so that kind of ruined it. On a positive note, I had a lovely chat with the nice Ukrainian CM who was serving them :)

Talk about certain itineraries and price!

We're not booking anything. The prices are too high and I don't see the value to warrant them. We could EASILY do 3 or 4 big (overseas) trips for the price of one cruise. It's absurd.

    Prices

This. We're not booking anything. I'm just not seeing the value with the current pricing. I can pour my own Mickey-shaped blob of ketchup for a lot less. ;)

Pirate video game on the Wonder?

No luck? Nobody knows what I'm talking about? :sad1:

will we be ok with 2nd seating?

Another vote for second seating here. We just cruised with our 5 and 6 year olds and had second seating and it was fine. The first night was a bit of a challenge for our 5-year-old (long day overall, I guess), but after that he was fine. We booked another cruise for next year and chose second...

Pirate video game on the Wonder?

There is some pirate video game that my son fell in love with on the Magic. It was in the back-left corner room, the same room that had the video terminals where you could simulate navigating the ship. I guess on this pirate game, you first design your pirate (and perhaps your pirate ship...

Name one thing you'd change about DCL

I think DCL needs to improve the food. I found it very hit and miss. Much of it SOUNDED very good, but just didn't deliver. I was excited to see lamb on the menu, and it was really poorly cooked and so disappointing (and worse than the lamb at Cabana's buffet). Things like potato leek soup...

    What's your worst vacation?

A couple of weeks of traveling solo through Mexico while having pneumonia. I was self-medicating with codeine (young and stupid at the time), and I was so sleep-deprived and drugged up that when I tripped on a curb while wandering around Mexico City, I ripped by whole big toenail right off the...

    Your Top 5 Vacations?

If you think back to your best 5 vacations ever, what were they? Did they include a cruise? Did they include DCL or anything Disney? I'm curious because I see so many trip reports from people who say their DCL cruise was their best vacation ever. So I'm wondering what other vacations all...

Yay or Nay...photo cd for 3 night Dream??

I am willing to pay quite a bit for excellent photos. The problem with our Shutters experience though was that the photos were really bad. We had one decent photo (that we did buy), one good photo of one of my kids (which we didn't buy, because there were no good photos of my other child), and...

    7 out of 10

Makes sense, BUT they had straws. Just not lids. So that seemed to not make sense. I would think straws would be more of an issue than lids? I'm guessing of course. Also, in terms of environment and impact..... we probably used 3 or 4 times as many cups as we would have had we had lids...

    7 out of 10

I'm giving our first-ever cruise a 7 out of 10. It was a 4-night Bahamian cruise on the Magic. Here are my overall thoughts :) The ship: -Gorgeous ship. Sparkly and clean and new. You couldn't ask for much more. -Our stateroom (a ocean view on deck 2) was super clean, spacious enough...

    Animator's Palate Show and Dine&Play

If my kids participate in the Dine & Play during late seating at Animator's Palate, will they miss any of the 'show'? Thank you :)

    Refused entry to USA...

I don't think I've ever been flagged? I've never been denied entry (-though I've come close to being denied work visas a couple of times, but that's a different story). I've held various visas. Really, the reasons I've been pulled aside have been minor (I think?). One time they didn't like...

    Refused entry to USA...

I have crossed the border for business as well as pleasure countless times. The advice above is good (i.e., ensure that you are bringing all of your trip papers with you, and absolutely no business-related items), but the other thing to make sure is that you give yourself LOTS of extra time at...

    Non-Disney tips pre-post cruise

We are heading on a 4-night cruise soon with our two kids (ages 5 and 6). We're doing a couple of extra days in the area, but, like you, think it's too expensive to try to hit the parks for 1 or 2 days (-better value to come back some time and do a full week). So before the cruise we will be...

    Fruit on Magic?

What fruit are we likely to see on the Magic? And where will it be? My 5-year-old fruit monster thanks you in advance for your answers:)
