    Hotels.com

I don't pretend to be a Universal planning expert, but the more I read on these boards and elsewhere, the more I think this might be a tip worth sharing. We enjoyed a trip this January with a 1-night stay at HRH. For many years, I always use Hotels.com to book rooms, anywhere. Out of habit...

Will I fit on Universal Rides?

My boyfriend can have trouble at other parks but had no problems at Universal, anywhere, including RRR. Which is weird because I keep hearing that the opposite is true. 🤷‍♀️ I'm not sure of his exact weight, but that doesn't really matter in cases like this. He's about 5' 10" and carries all of...

    tell me about...lockers

Actually, if you pay the $2 for a larger locker, you get 2 hours of time. So there's that.

Crowd levels this coming week (last week in January}?

I hadn't been to Universal for 10 years and I've never been in January. We are just back. The crowd calendar predicts low level crowds, and in the non-Harry Potter areas, that is most definitely true. All Harry Potter attractions were really pretty busy. I'm sure it's worse in the summertime...

This one should be fun.....the tour groups with the flags

They've been around forever. Nothing you or I say or do is going to change anything. The only thing I can control is my own reaction. It's difficult to maintain that mindset, but I do everything I can to not get myself upset during my short, expensive, and overall very awesome vacation.

It's 10 years later and it's an adults-only trip now

I have not been to Universal since 2010, at which time it was summertime, I had kids and a full family with me. It's 10 years later, kids are grown, and I'm Universal-bound with just my boyfriend. We are both 50 and he's a Harry Potter fan (a big one!). So we're visiting mid-January and I did...

How do first responders know who to call?

I'll have to see if I can figure it out for a Samsung. But I'd venture to guess that most people aren't forward-thinking enough to figure out how to set that up in their phones. I mean, this seems like a common enough situation. I'd love to hear from a first responder/ER nurse/doctor point of view.

How do first responders know who to call?

This is something I've been thinking about lately. I live alone. I have 2 grown (sort of) sons who don't live with me. I have a serious boyfriend who also does not live with me. If I were in an accident, for example, how would first responders know who to contact? I would think this would be a...

Funny Things You Believed As A Child

I thought a "Real Estate Novelist" was a real occupation.

    S/O What's the best event/performance seat you've gotten?

Last Sunday, had tickets to see Garth Brooks from row 17 of the 100 level. Not terrible. Before the show, came out of the ladies room with my friend to be greeted by a roadie from Garth's crew. Roadie presented us with ROW ONE SMACK CENTER tickets. I can't even describe the concert that...

Who is your favourite singer or band?

So many that I love, but if I had to pick one band who embodies everything I love about music, it is easily The Airborne Toxic Event.

I Hate "This Is Us" So Much I Just Want To Scream

I don't LOVE it like many do, but it's cute. I don't think it's deep at all, just...cute. I binged watched during Christmas and I have to say that I wanted to smack Randall, HARD. Was tired of hearing him whine about how he'd been abandoned. You were not "abandoned" you crybaby, you were...

What are the pros and cons of dating you?

Pro: I'm not needy. I'm as cool with doing things and spending time alone as I am with doing things with that special someone. I don't NEED you. Con: I don't NEED you :)

    WWYD Car accident

Oh and police reports are worthless. Last I heard, unless someone has been injured or killed, the police don't even want you calling them for fender benders.

Leaving a teen behind.....Update pg 12, we are back!

I don't leave my sons home alone for extended periods. They are quite old enough to live on their own, this is true. However, they are currently in MY house. I'm no lawyer, but I'm pretty sure that I can be responsible for any bad stuff that goes down in my house. Therefore, I'm protecting my...

    Skipping Thanksgiving?

I don't find it that difficult to roast a bird and whip up some mashed potatoes or whatever and throw it on the table (but, mind you, I'm no great chef!) So I'd probably do something resembling Thanksgiving, even if it were just me in the house. I'd be much more inclined to "skip" the...

Jimmy Kimmel's "I ate all your halloween candy"

Oh geez, my kids have spent the past 20+ years doing dumb things that we never taught them to do. AND I think most parents would admit the same, if they're being real about it. If that's not your experience, it's pure luck. Really.... we teach them well and then just hope for the best. I don't...

Music: What are you listening to??

Great new band called The Record Company. Saw them live on Saturday night. Blown away.

    Alec Badwin or Kate Mckinnon

You're not wrong, exactly, but take some time to check out something...anything... from this past week's Tom Hank's episode. I particularly recommend the Jeopardy skit (which is on youtube and had me rolling on the floor) and his monologue (the message to America from "America's Dad") The funny...

    Best thing about getting old

I cannot believe how much people complain about getting older (I am 47). The ONLY bad thing I can think of is the increase in health issues. Now granted, that is significant, but to me there is NOTHING else bad about getting older. I am freer, wealthier, smarter, self confident and at peace than...
