So, if the head server was supposed to get a $15 tip

I say, give what you think they've earned. We had one head server that got the recommended--that's it. He did his job but not one bit more in 7 nights. The service wasn't bad, but it wasn't above and beyond either. One the flip side, we've had the same head server for 5 cruises. He...

    Going above and beyond?

We took a cruise about 8 weeks after tragically losing 3 people very close to us at Thanksgiving. We were a mess, but decided to go thinking that a break from reality might help. It was a chore to even get packed and on the ship. We told no one because we wanted to be "normal" for those few...

Who is the captain and cruise director on the Fantasy and Dream?

We love both Ray and Clayton. Clayton's energy level and personality are over the top...we love that about him. It's a treat when we get to sail with him. Ray is genuinely a nice guy, but MUCH more reserved than Clayton. I think he doesn't always seem as approachable as Clayton. We've...

    Room 9674 on the Dream

We've stayed in 9672 and I think that it had the upper bunk, so I'm guessing that 9674 would as well. There are 3 of us so we didn't need it, but I remember my husband asking our son if he wanted "upper or lower."

    seating for shows?

There may be circumstances where being a minute or two (or maybe even 5) behind is reasonable. As an example, I have a permanent injury that makes going down the steps in the theatre a challenge. For safety's sake, I need to wait until the crowd has thinned before I walk down. For the same...

    Dream/Fantasy aft veranda cabins??

Forgot to tell you that our room slept 4 people. :)

    Dream/Fantasy aft veranda cabins??

We LOVED our aft cabin on the Dream. We were on the very back of Deck 9. Veranda was HUGE and so nice in the evenings. Large enough for sun loungers and chairs. Ours was partially covered by Deck 10 and partially open, so not a ton of privacy but really good for enjoying the sun and the view...

    Not disappointed with the DREAM!

Our Dream cruise was on 9th on DCL. We also heard all of the "negative press" but went with a good attitude and an open mind. It was WONDERFUL. We were happily reunited with several of our favorite DCL friends onboard the Dream, they took great care of us. We wanted for nothing and and even...

    Disappointing Dream :(

There are 2 Simones on the Dream, one is a Head Server/Restaurant Mgr, the other is a Head Server. They were both on the Dream together when we sailed over the summer. Maybe explains some of the mixed reivews.. The one that came from the Magic is from Italy, he's the one that WE love :cool1:

Avoid standing in line to do tips?

Last month on the Dream they had a box out near Guest Services to drop completed tip forms in. The tip "tickets" were delivered to our room later that day. Very easy.

Do you know Trevor? (Formerly known as "Whatevah Trevah")

The skit is an "adults only" activity. It's definitely not family friendly because of the innuendo...but it's hilarious. Not crude.

What are the things the CMs cannot get!

On our last cruise one of the non-tipped CMs saw my son with a bag of mini oreos and went absolutely bananas over them wondering where he got them from on the ship. She said she'd just about pay anything if they were available for purchase on the ship somewhere...We had one more unopened...

Ever second guess your cruise decisions?

We love to cruise and have had great experiences on DCL. We have found that the cruises are almost becoming "the easy way out" when it comes to vacations. We know what to plan, expect, and pack. We're almost on autopilot. Don't get me wrong, we ALWAYS love it; but we're really starting to...

    Dream dinner table size

We were just on the Dream 2 weeks ago. The table next to us was a large party. I don't know exactly how many people were seated at it, but I do think that it had to be at least 10; there were several adult couples and a bunch of kids. If your reservations are linked, I'm pretty sure they will...

Will DCL work with a kid who has food allergies?

We have a son with milk and soy allergies and have cruised with DCL 9 times. They are really easy to work with; we've never had any problems. The Head Servers have always kept a close eye on things and the chef's come out when necessary. We've had no problems finding things for our son to...

    Wonder deck 5....

We love 5 aft and choose to stay there whenever we cruise on the Wonder. We can hear some "noise" on the last night from the dining room when they do the flag parade during the late seating, but it's short lived and nothing that disrupts our sleep or enjoyment. It usually happens about the time...

Palo server Draco/Draken on the Wonder

There is a Head Server on the Dream named Dragan, he's from Croatia. He mentioned that he came from the Wonder and was once in Palo. Person you are looking for maybe?

What do you do for the workers on the ships?

We tip them well and mention them on the survey. We also usually give a small treat (like candy) and a nice note at the end of the week. I know that our last server really appreciated it--we got a thank you note from her in the mail after we got home and she emailed us to ask if we would like...

Opinions from those who have cruised Bahamas Presidents week!

A hard call, I know. The weather is so unpredictable in the Bahamas that time of year. It might be cool, but it's not likely going to be cold. We knew going in that it could be cool, but decided to go for it. Fortunately, the weather cooperated. We'd pretty much made up our minds to go and...
