Here’s what actually happened:
We had an 8:00am AIS time this morning. When I woke up, I went to check on Waldo. He was completely wiped out. He needed to sleep in and I was cool with that. We decided to completely scrap the plan and let the kids decide where to go. Red park, green park, it didn’t really matter at this point. Or did it?
They naturally chose MK. Blech!
Of course they would pick a park that had EMH this morning. Double Blech! And MK to boot? It’s not like MK is any different that DLR and we could go there any day. Yes, I was having issues with their choice. I tried to talk them out of it, but that was impossible.
We made it out to the bus at 7:30am, just as a MK bus went by us. Triple Blech! By the time we get to the MK, it’s 8:10am. Yes, 8:10!!! 10 minutes after rope drop on a EMH morning! O.M.Gawd! I’m having major anxiety. We need to get to Splash, MI:LF and Stitch and then get out of there.
We head directly over to Adventure Land and it’s roped off. WTH? Why is it closed? We head over to MI:LF and
IT’S closed. WTH
is opened?
We ask a CM and basically the only thing opened is FL and a few TL rides. Seriously??? I am NOT happy.
Since we’re literally standing in front of Stitch, which in fact, has a 5 minute wait, we get into that queue and ride that. The kids enjoyed it and we decided to head over to AL for the 9am rope drop so we can ride Splash. As soon as the rope is down, it’s every man for themselves. I tell Andy to meet me there. I can out walk Andy. Heh heh heh. Don’t tell him I told you. Sho’nuff, Evan and I get there and by the time I get him out of the stroller, Andy and Maddie are there and we all jump in line for Splash.
Evan & I are in the front this time. We climbed in and I noticed something funky smelling. Now let me say this. I hadn’t noticed a lot of funky smells this trip. With the exception of:
A- Someone smoking an herbal substance in our hotel.
B-Sweaty people who get wet in the rain, suddenly smell like wet dog.
C- Catfoodgarten
Well, this ride smelled funky. And here’s why:
See this funky green moldy crap on the log thingy? Ok, that’s gross. Someone needs to squirt these things with Tilex or something.
So we loaded up our log and as we’re headed up the first little hill, I’m talking to Evan and water splashes up and lands right in my MOUTH!!! Ewwwww!!!! I completely freak out!
Can you imagine WTH is in that water??? I still get grossed out when I think about it. I’m really trying to hold it together because I want Evan to enjoy the ride, and it’s killing me to know that I have a toothbrush and Scope within arms reach, but I can’t exactly pull that stuff out and get to work.
Yes, it was the longest 12 minutes of my life. As soon as it’s over, I run into the bathroom and brush my teeth and rinse with my Scope.
Did people stare at me.
Yup.
Did I care?
Nope.
Yes, I know I swallowed that filthy water, but somehow cleaning my teeth made me feel better.
We decided to head to ToonTown to get one last ride on Barnstormer. We rode Barnstormer 2 times and then then kids decided they’re hot and tired and wanted to head back to the hotel to get their swim on. I hadn’t had anything to eat, so we decide to stop at the Bakery to grab something for me. Holy cow! The line was out the door! I wanted to shake these people and say “PEOPLE!!! You are wasting valuable touring time!!! Get out there! Get your FP’s! Hurry, hurry, hurry!!!” But I didn’t. I shook my head and we headed out to see the mobs of “them” heading in! Mind you, it was 10:30 am, on a EMH morning and these people were heading into MK. We noticed a lot of them had on their “1st Visit” buttons on. Pffft… newbies.
So it was decided we’d spend our last full day in WDW at the pool.
We headed back to the room, changed into our swim suits, grabbed TE and Waldo and went back out the door.
Our first stop was AP for some lunch, which took forever. The kids both ordered hot dogs. Well, they gave us one hot dog that looked perfect. A nice, pinky red, juicy & plump looking dog, whilst the other was more of a grayish-orange, wrinkle, dried up shoe string. When the CM handed them to me, I looked at her and waited for her to say something. Naturally she didn’t so, I asked her if she really expected me to feed my child a gray hot dog? I guess she didn’t even notice, because she made a face like “Eww!” and quickly took said gray dog away and replaced it was a twin of the other juicy dog. I’m hoping she trashed it and didn’t pass it on to another person.
We finished our lunch and went down to the High Rocks pool. Evan loved the baby slide there and jumped in his Spiderman ring and began a repeat of the other night. Up the stairs and down the slide. Up the stairs and down the slide.
Maddie and Andy headed over to the other side of the pool whilst, Waldo found a shady spot and lounged there. TE was roaming around taking photos of us all.
Another father and his daughter joined us at the baby slide. And the little girl and Evan followed each other up the stairs and down the stairs. And that's when it happened. A very loud life guard came over blowing her whistle. I looked around to see who she was blowing it at and didn’t realize she was blowing it at ME!!??
She came over and told me Evan could not go down the slide with the ring on and then she started blah, blah, blah… So Evan doesn’t know he’s not allowed to do this and he’s at the top of the slide ready to go down. The life guard tells me I need to get him off NOW. Well I go over to the slide and Evan goes down before I could stop him. Oops. So I tell Evan he cannot go down the slide with the ring anymore and he takes it off and heads back up the slide. No big deal. Until….
The life guard tells me to go get him a life jacket if he can’t swim. I told her we’ve been using the ring everyday on the slide and this is the first time someone has said anything to me. She looks at me and says “I doubt it!”. Boom!
That set me off. I look at the other father and he shook his head in disbelief. Oh hells to the no she didn’t just talk to me like that.
I get Evan and toss him over to Andy and I jump out of the pool and chase her down. She sees me heading toward her and she crosses over the bridge, so I head to the other life guard chair and ask as I pointed to her “Who is her manager?” Well, the beyotch life guard sees me talking and pointing at her and runs over to me and asked me if there was a problem. I replied “Yes, your attitude!” The other life guard gets on her walkie talkie and asks for assistance NOW!
The manager comes running over while I start going off on the life guard and he jumps in and sends the life guard away. I tell him what happened and he apologizes to me saying that yes, children cannot wear swim rings on the slides, however the life guard should not have spoken to me in that manner. I told him I completely understood that part, but I would not permit a CM to be rude and condescending to me. He apologized and asked what he could do to make it up to me. I didn’t want anything – but I did tell him that this was our last day and we’d had nothing but positive experiences all week and this CM really threw a dark cloud on our last day. I walked away and joined my family and pretty soon I saw that beyotch life guard carrying buckets of ice back and forth. I’m sure I became her story of the day.
We left the pool a few hours later and yes, we saw that CM again and it took everything in me not to give her the bird. NOMorrisDay
We had a very important appointment at 3:30 that afternoon. You see, Andy & I had been discussing DVC all week and decided that DVC was a great idea for us and we decided to sign up that afternoon.
We went back to our room, got ready and headed down to the DVC office at SSR. Our guide, Larry was not in that day, so another guide helped us. We walked out of there proud members of AKV and a nice set of bonus builders points to use within 12 months at SSR. I was on Cloud9!
