Zootopia II

May be one of the few Hollywood movies that breaks through in China this year (Avatar 3 being another).

Early Domestic projections from first week or so of November were on par with the original Moana 2 projections.

Link above. The 5-day domestic projection for Zoo 2 is approximately $100M below Moana 2. Zoo 2's projections are closer to Frozen 2's 5-day domestic opening. I would expect Zoo 2 to fare better in China than Moana 2 to your point about international box office numbers.
And like I said, that closely matches the early projections for Moana 2:

Update: looks like the DMV effectively iced Wednesday… possibly a Saturday night window since I don’t want to interfere with Black Friday post work…

Speculation that the international take alone for Zootopia 2 for the first 5 days will come close to Moana 2s first 5 day global total of $389M, with a potential $200M+ rumbling about from China alone.

We’ll see how the numbers actually shake out but some are projecting $500M+ global for the 5 days.

I’ll definitely be part of that opening weekend box office total… Saturday afternoon is now official! I’ll be watching it at a locally owned theater chain in my area though instead of the big chains (it’s Small Business Saturday afternoon all)…

I just saw it - good stuff! It's a very exciting and funny movie. Not quite as subtle as the first one, but it delieves the fun for sure.

Just walked out of the movie! Wow, it was DEEP. A lot of impressive scenery throughout. Nick and Judy were so well showcased… in terms of relationship! My communication major was haunting me throughout in terms of context.

A notable Hidden Mickey: the kitchen scene with the small bit of ratatouille when Judy and Nick were at the Gala. Look at the pans carefully.

Estimated results from box office are really good. And the TWDC really needed a hit. Fall was really a poor box office for TWDC (and all studios, frankly). I thought Predator Badlands was going to make some money based upon its opening weekend, but it's box office has really fallen off a cliff.

Yeah, the results are astounding - beating expectations. It doesn't hurt that it's a really great movie too! With this and Avatar, Disney will be finishing the year strong.

It is too bad Predator didn't hit bigger. It was doing pretty decently, but, yeah, it seems to have stalled short of what it needed. It's too bad, becasue it's also a really great movie - the best Predator for sure.

I hope Disney doesn’t use the franchise/IP success as an excuse come 2026 to play down new original stuff. Hoppers and Hexed both seem to be the next big hits, but it boils down in part to the box office numbers.

There are NO franchises WITHOUT originals.

I agree, but they are well down the road of sequels. Audiences are rewarding them. That said, if every sequel could be as strong as Zoo2, then I'd still be pretty happy.
