Zombie Apocalypse and Pixie Dust - A 2 week Disneymoon (PTR link 11/14)

I have no idea if the baby will sleep in our room. I know I don't want her to sleep in there for too long. I'm an extremely light sleeper, so I might just end up putting her in her room very early. I'm also concerned about heat/air conditioning, so I need to speak to my doctor about what she suggests. I'll probably just see how it goes, and not have any preconceived opinion on what to do. But anyway, we bought the mattress today so we are okay. :thumbsup2

Neither of my children stayed in the room with us when they were infants. From the time they were brought home from the hospital, they stayed in their crib in their room. I don't remember having a baby monitor when Lacey was born but I had one with Hunter although I didn't use it too much.

Your mothering instincts will kick in and help you decide where Peanut needs to sleep.

Hi Mel! I can't believe how close you are to meeting peanut! She will be here before you know it! I can't wait to see some of your maternity pictures. I can tell from the photo you posted from that day that they are going to be great. You looked amazing! :goodvibes

I LOVE the nursery! The flowers on the wall are absolutely beautiful, and the wall color is so bright and cheery. :thumbsup2

(Singing) We're talking away
I don't know what I'm to say, I'll say it anyway
Today's another day to find you shying away
I'll be coming for your love okay?

Take on me
Take me on
I'll be gone in a day or two

So needless to say, I'm odds and ends
But I'll be stumbling away
Slowly learning is okay
Say after me: "It's no better than to be safe or sorry"

Take on me
Take me on
I'll be gone in a day or two

Oh the things that you say
Is it life or just to play my worries away?
You're all the things I've got to remember
You're shying away, I'll be coming for you anyway.

Take on me
Take me on
I'll be gone in a day or two

(One more time!)

I'll be gone in a day or two
Take on me
Take me on
Take me on
Take me on

(Yeah! And no doubt this'll be the song that plays at Peanut's wedding when her groom walks down the aisle when she's much, much, much, much older.)

Hi! I got really behind on your TR since I went to Disney, but I'm all caught up now! You look so great, I'm glad your pregnancy is going so well, it's almost time, you must be really excited!!!

Your nursery is beautiful, I love the color of the walls, and the sparkly curtains! And of course, the Tink wall decal! I can't even imagine what a baby nursery would look like if I was pregnant, it would be like Disney threw up in there or something! :rotfl2:

Real life update - My life is a Whirlwind!!!

Man are these last few months crazy busy. So much to say about what has happened in the past two weeks, and what's in store next! I'll update you on my life, then I'll reply to your posts.

First, I'm finally OFF WORK!!!!!! Woohoo!!!:cool1::cool1::yay: Well, almost. I have just a couple of things that I need to evaluate (artworks that I took pictures of, and their plays that they filmed), but that shouldn't take too long. It doesn't even feel real though. I really feel like I'm going back to school on Tuesday, or at least soon. It hasn't hit me that I'll be off work for 9 MONTHS!!!

That doesn't mean that I'll have much free time though. Yesterday we had a 1 y.o. birthday party, today we did loads of laundry, and started shopping for and packing my hospital bag, tomorrow we are having a picnic with friends, Tuesday I'm going shopping with my dad so he can buy a suit for my brother's wedding :headache::faint: (we don't get along that well, and he HATES shopping), Wednesday I have too non-medical appointments, and Thursday and Friday I have one medical appointment each. Finally, Saturday is my brother's wedding. Oh and the week after I'm seeing my nutritionist, visiting the hospital, and we have another 1 y.o. birthday party. Phew!

Second, I have some not so great baby news. 2 weeks ago I had the ultrasound (that I had told you about) and it did confirm that the baby is VERY small. About 3 weeks behind, and in the 8th percentile. The doctor at the u/s said everything else looked great though, and since both my husband and I are small he was not worried at all. Well not even an hour later I received a call from my doctor's office. Turns out my doctor was worried. So she scheduled me for a weekly non-stress test (where they check the baby's heartbeat, movements, and contractions), as well as an appointment with a gyno who specializes in high-risk pregnancies. The non-stress tests have been fine, but the gyno appointment (which was last Wednesday), she too was concerned by Peanut's size so she is recommending to my doctor that I be induce close to week 38. That's in 2 weeks!!!:scared1::scared1::scared1: I haven't actually seen my doctor since I got that news, so I don't have any more details, but I'm worried and SO NOT READY!!! Besides my crazy schedule for the next few weeks, I also have so many things (baby related, Disney related) to do. Oh, and what about relaxing and resting? :scared: I know that I don't have much choice, especially if it's for the good of the baby, but still... I'll let you guys know when I have more details.

So basically that's why I haven't been online these past two weeks. Besides working like crazy to get everything ready for not only my departure, but my return next year, I've been going to so many medical appointments. I haven't even uploaded my pictures from the baby shower yet!! Speaking of which, we got a few more gifts from people who did not make it, as well as spent loads of money buying everything we didn't get. That was fun!!! :woohoo: So we also have been spending time buying stuff, and setting up a few of them.

I think that pretty much covers it all. Sorry for the wordy update.

ETA. Can I jsut say how much it's bugging me that the "remember me" button is not working on the Dis anymore? I hate writing a long update, only to be told I'm not logged in anymore!!

Sounds like you are very busy. Glad to hear you're almost done with work for nine months. That is awesome. I had to see the high risk with both boys. Xander was 14 days early, and Connor was 15 days early. Both inductions were due to pregnancy induced hypertension. It is scary to be induced early. Xander was fine and went home the next day. Connor and I required one extra day in the hospital, because he was jaundiced and my hypertension did not go away when he was born as it did with Xander. It all turned out well as I am sure it will for you. Before you know it, we will be seeing Claudia's baby pictures. :yay:

Cannot wait to see the pictures of your photo shoot. And you look amazing BTW. Pregnancy definitely agrees with you.
The baby room looks great. I always thought blue for a baby girl nursery was such a cool idea. ;)

Q

Glad to see you back on the Dis, Queila! I'm still waiting on the photo shoot pictures. Hopefully it should be ready soon.

Thanks for all the compliments. Did you do blue for your nursery as well?

You look beautiful! Can't wait to see the photo shoot. And the Nursery is very sweet. I like that you left lots of wall space for baby pictures ;-)

Thank you! I'm so looking forward to seeing those pictures as well. At least I've been so busy, I haven't had time to think about it at all!

We're not big on hanging frames, but maybe that'll change for the baby pictures.

Love the nursery!!!

Can't believe it's just 6 weeks till Peanut time!

Thanks! I still can't get over how pretty the nursery turned out!

Now there are only 4 weeks left! And only 2, if my doctor follows that gyno's recommendations!! I know many women are ready to be done with the pregnancy by this time, but I'm not. I love being pregnant, and I don't want it to be over just yet.

I am an extremely light sleeper too. I woke up every time our DS made any sort of noise- a yawn, a coo, or even rustling moving his limbs. Our DS was moved to his room after about a week. It was the best thing we did! Everyone rested much better! Just do whatever works for you!

I'm pretty sure that's what's gonna happen. I look at the craddle in our room, and I really don't feel like using it. Plus, we bought a GREAT baby monitor, so that will be good. The only thing that worries me is the heat. I don't know what I'm suppose to do in terms of heat, fans, air conditioning. It's on my list of things to ask my doctor next time.

We have to sleep with our door closed because Ron's allergic to my cats, so we'll have to use the baby monitor.

I just raised the question of heat in my reply above. Since you live in Louisiana, what did you do?

:thumbsup2

Hi Courtney!

I know I should be really excited for Peanut's arrival, but I'm mostly just scared, worried, and overwhelmed! But I'm sure all of that will go away once I see her. At least I hope so.

Thanks! It was fun having a professional do my hair and makeup, and then taking all those pictures.

I love the nursery too. I had a hard time choosing which shade of turquoise, but in the end I think it turned out perfect!

Bored by my absence? :rotfl2: Let's not think about her wedding right away, okay?

Good thing I haven't posted in forever, gave you a chance to catch up. ;):rotfl: Gonna have to hop over to your PTR and check everything I've missed. Have you started your TR yet? Hope you had a great time!

I really restrained myself not to make the room more Disney. As for clothes though... not so much. I think at least 80% of her clothes are Disney related. The other 20% are things given to us by people who obviously don't know me well enough. :rotfl2: ust kidding, I love all her non-Disney clothes as well. :goodvibes

Busy is the understatement of the year. :lmao:

I actually got a bit scared last night that I could be getting pre-eclempsia, since my feet have gotten mega swollen in the past few days. But today I checked my tension while shopping and it was fine. Thank god! Being induced 2 weeks early is already stressful enough, I didn't want to have to go to the hospital today!! A girl I know just gave birth 2 weeks ago and her baby was jaundiced as well. It's not fun, but at least it turned out well for her as well.

Bored by my absence? :rotfl2: Let's not think about her wedding right away, okay?
But if we don't talk about the wedding, we won't know how it ends! All in seriousness I've been very bored without you. Oh so very bored. Very, very, very, very bored.

Real life update - Follow-up by Doctor + Decision

I posted a life update two days ago on the previous page. Don't miss it, as this is the follow-up.

I finally heard from my doctor yesterday. Though she's pretty sure Peanut is just tiny because Ron and I are both small, she says delivering small babies has more risks so she still wants to induce me early. At least it's not as early as what the gyno was recommending, so it should be in about 2 weeks from now (just a little under 2 weeks from my due date). I'm happy with that compromise.

Also, I have made a decision regarding the DIS. I've come to realize that no matter how hard I try, I just can't keep up with my subscriptions anymore, let alone comment on them AND continue my TR. Two nights ago I spent over 4 hours on the DIS and still did not manage to read everyone's TR and PTR. I would hate to leave my TR unfinished, so I've decided to just focus on that until it's completed. That means that I will stop reading all your wonderful TR and PTR for the time being. I remain subscribed to them, so hopefully I'll be able to catch up in a few months. Or maybe a little at a time this summer, during Peanut's naps. I am so sorry to all of you I am following that I won't be able to comment anymore. I know I love when you guys comment here, so it makes me very sad to know that I won't be able to return the favor for a while. :sad2:

I hope you all can understand my decision. I think it's the best compromise, due to the circumstances.

But if we don't talk about the wedding, we won't know how it ends! All in seriousness I've been very bored without you. Oh so very bored. Very, very, very, very bored.

I'll try my best to update my Disney TR as often as possible between now (well, tomorrow) and Peanut's birth. :)

Only 2 weeks! How exciting! I am so happy for you and Ron.

They induced me 1 month early with Maddie because my blood pressure was really high. I went home within 24 hours, and Maddie came home withing 48. She was small, but perfect and now she's the 2nd tallest kid in her class. It's not possible to not stress out about it, but trust your doctors. It'll be fine.

Don't worry about the DIS. Sometimes it can feel like a full-time job. Don't you dare DIS while Peanut is napping!!!! YOU need to be napping too!!!! Trust me!

I'd love to read the rest of your TR though :lmao:

Good luck and keep us posted if you can! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

It's okay Mel. I did not even log on for almost two months toward the end of my pregnancy and beginning of Connor's life. Being that pregnant is a job itself. The trip reports will be there when you're ready. My boys were 14 and 15 days early. It was a little stressful both times. I will pray that everything goes well for you.

I was super small when I was born, so I don't worry too much. I worry more about the fact that the doctor wants to induce me too early for my taste (I'd prefer she come closer to her due date), not so much about her size. Anyway, I got some more news about the baby today, which I will post next.

It's so true about the Dis being a full-time job sometimes! But a fun one, at least. :goodvibes

I'm not a big napper. Since I often have trouble sleeping at night, I avoid naps as they make it worse. Obviously I'll try taking a few naps while she is napping too, but not too many. I always wake up feeling more tired from naps then before I took it... :headache:

I had such an easy pregnancy, but just in the past 2 and a half weeks I've had 6 extra medical appointments. Add that too all my *other* appointments (nutrionnist, massage (those are great!), oil change, car seat check, etc.), it makes for very busy weeks. Then today my doctor's secretary said "oh, BTW, you should be resting/lying down as much as possible." :headache: Can't say I've actually followed those orders a lot today... :rolleyes1 I know, I know, I should listen to my doctor, but I really don't think there is anything wrong with the baby. As long as I have the energy for it, I have stuff to do!

Real life update - Baby Shower + Bump Photos

I got a call this morning from my doctor's office, saying they scheduled me yet another ultrasound that very afternoon. I actually had another appointment at the exact same time, that fortunately had just been cancelled. So I went. Well, according to this new u/s, baby is not as small as previously thought! :thumbsup2 Obviously there is a big margin of error, but per today's test she's only 2 weeks "behind" (as opposed to 3), in the 20th percentile (as opposed to 8th), and almost 5 lbs! Yay! :cool1: I don't know what my doctor will do with those results, but I'll know Friday.

I finally uploaded the Baby shower pictures to my computer, so here are a couple. The first two were taken in the nursery, just before I left.

This is the only picture I have of the cake. My stepDD doesn't believe in the zoom button. :rotfl: Hopefully my SIL will be getting me a better one soon.

They had me wear a funny hat made of all the gifts ribbons.

And one picture of my mom and I. I won't post pictures of the other guests, since I'm not sure they'd appreciate it.

Here are the newest Bump pictures, taken last week.

And finally, since I have no shame on the DIS, this is what my giant swollen feet look like this week. :rotfl2:

You are a stunning pregnant woman. I am so happy for you (and jealous) that there is not a single strecth mark on your belly. It really is a beautiful baby bump. Glad the U/S is showing better results. Hopefully, this means you do not have to be induced early. Even if you are, it will be okay.

Real Life Update - A Weekend in Mont-Tremblant
May 2012

Ok, I said I would do a Disney update today, but I realized I had so many real-life pictures I had not posted yet. If you haven't seen them yet, I've also done two life updates, as well as a baby shower update, in the past 3 days.

During Mother's Day weekend we went to Mont-Tremblant for one night. Ron's parents have a time-share and often rent a condo there. Mont-Tremblant is a little village about 2 hours north of Montreal, at the foot of one of Quebec's biggest mountain. It was us three (with stepDD13), his parents, as well as Ron's brother with his wife and baby. We had a two-bedroom villa. There are LOTS of pictures, so this will be separated in two updates.

This is what the condo looks like, as well as the view from our porch.

Here is what our room looked like, complete with a big bathtub! Oh how I enjoyed taking a warm bath with my belly FULLY underwater for once! Ron's DD and his parents slept in the living-room, while his brother's family had the other room. Please excuse the mess on the bed.

Here is the common bathroom. I forgot to take pictures of the rest of the place.

Mont-Tremblant-12-13mai20125.jpg

When we arrived (mid-afternoon) we took a walk with his brother and wife, but I did not take any pictures. We walked along a lake, and then to a small waterfall. Very pretty! Then that evening after dinner DD wanted to go to the pedestrian village, so we did. Unfortunately almost everything was closed, so we just did a quick walk around. I forgot to take pictures again, but DD took these two.

Mont-Tremblant-12-13mai201210.jpg

After we came back Ron and his dad went to check out the casino, while I enjoyed my hot bath. We told DD she could stay up as late as she wanted, but she ended up falling asleep earlier than her usual bedtime. Nothing to do, apparently. :lmao:

The next day, we had a lazy morning with the family. Almost everybody else were staying in Mont-Tremblant for a few more days, but we had to go back to work. Just before we left to come back to Montreal, Ron, DD an.d I went back to the pedestrian village. Unfortunately, not many activiites were open because we were there in low season (ski and summer are the peak times to go). Still, we enjoyed walking around, and going into a few stores.

Mont-Tremblant-12-13mai201212.jpg

Same clock tower as the night photo.

Mont-Tremblant-12-13mai201213.jpg

This usually takes you to the top of the pedestrian village, but it was closed. So this almost 8 months pregnant lady walked up that mountain twice in two days! Not too shabby. :thumbsup2

For the rest, I'll let the pictures do the talking.

We didn't stay long, and were soon on our way home. These are the condos viewed from the road.

Mont-Tremblant-12-13mai201239.jpg

I was driving on the way to Tremblant, but Ron was driving on the way back so I took pictures of the scenery. Lots of mountains and trees.

So there you have it. Mont-Tremblant is a very nice mountain village. It's actually quite popular with rich people and celebrities, though we didn't see any. If you ever come to Montreal, whether you like to ski or not, I suggest you spend a few days there. :)

You are a stunning pregnant woman. I am so happy for you (and jealous) that there is not a single strecth mark on your belly. It really is a beautiful baby bump. Glad the U/S is showing better results. Hopefully, this means you do not have to be induced early. Even if you are, it will be okay.

Thank you. Trust me, I know how lucky I am to have no stretch marks!

I really hope I don't have do get induce. No only would I enjoy the extra time off to prepare better, but also I'd love to experience the excitement of not knowing when it's going to happen.

You looked beautiful in your baby shower dress!

Kimberly is right, you are a stunning mommy to be.

Hope that you get the news that you're hoping for on Friday. I'm such a control freak planner, that I was a little happy to know when Maddie would arrive. Plus, I'd been on bed rest for 4 weeks, so I was relieved to get it over with. :rotfl:
