Zombie Apocalypse and Pixie Dust - A 2 week Disneymoon (PTR link 11/14)

No update yesterday, but it was my brother's wedding. :goodvibes I should have uploaded my pictures before posting this, but oh well.

Congrats on the honeymoon and the baby!! A new Disney fan is born!!!

:welcome: Well, not born yet, but pretty soon. ;)

Great pictures. I love your maternity shots. So cute!

And thanks for the tip on the photo studio at guest relations. We'll have to check it out!

Thanks! I'm so glad I went ahead and did the maternity shoot. I would have regretted it so bad if I had not.

Yes, do check it out. It's worth it! Especially since it's free!

Sorry the rest of your evening at DtD was not great.

I know exactly what you mean about being trapped in a room and unable to fall asleep next to some one who is out as soon as he hits the pillow. Most of the time, I am fine with it. Once in a while, it irritates me too. While everyone else sleeps, I am held captive audience to avoid waking them. It is not fun. Once in a while, I have been known to "accidentally" wake Crap up.:rotfl2:

Oh well. The evening may not have been great, but at least it made us appreciate the rest of our trip more.

Most times I'm fine with it too. I think it's mostly when I'm over-tired yet can't fall asleep that it irritates me more. I love hearing about other people "accidently" waking up their husbands as well. :rotfl2:

Well on the bright side Mel, atleast your evening in Downtown Disney wasn't as bad as my first day at Epcot.....I really need to stop harping so much on that day. Surprisingly I've never been on Buzz Lightyear's astro blaster and the Magic Carpets at DisneyQuest. I think playing the original Donkey Kong game was a highlight for me cuz I'm a gamer myself and I like anything from the 80s so that game was in my ballpark so to speak.

True, though it was our worse night of the trip, it was certainly by far not as bad as it could have been, and has been for other people such as you. So in a way I'm lucky.

The lines always seem to be super long for those games at DisneyQuest, especially the Magic Carpets. For me, Pacman (and Mrs. Pacman) are my favorite 80s games.

I'm so sorry that you had such a hard time falling asleep. I know how frustrating it is to have a husband that's asleep in seconds. Mine snores too, so if I'm not asleep, I"m usually elbowing, hitting, nudging, kicking him in an attempt to get him to pipe down. :lmao:

Ron didn't use to snore, but for some reason he started doing that last fall! So annoying. :headache: I absolutely canNOT fall asleep if someone is snoring, so I've resorted to using ear plugs now. Don't know what I'll do once the baby's here though, if I'll be able to hear her with the ear plugs.

lol I think I would also have been happy that he wasn't able to fall back to sleep lol

Us girls can be so mean. Love it! :lmao:

I love the honesty in your report!! Too many people paint the we are at Disney so life is always fantastic!

My hubby takes Ambien, so I have actually banged and slammed stuff to "accidentally" wake him up. I'm a meanie.:badpc: HA HA

:welcome: Thanks for saying you like my honesty. Disney is a great place, but life is never perfect.

I really love how I'm not the only one to accidentally wake my husband once in a while. :lmao:

Day 10 part 1 - Another Switch In Our Plans
August 20th, 2011

Day 10 was our second day scheduled at the Magic Kingdom. Yes, you read that right. We had been in WDW for 10 days and had only gone to MK once. What can I say; we really love each park equally. At 7am, when the alarm woke us up, Ron stopped it and went back to sleep. I stayed awake for a little while, until I realized he had not just hit snooze, but actually turned off the alarm. We really did need to sleep, after the day (and night) we had had just before, so I did not argue and went back to sleep as well. We got woken up around 10am by some landscaping or cleaning going on outside. We apologized for our fight the night before, hugged, and took our sweet time to get going. Eventually we emerged from our room and went to eat lunch (too late for breakfast!) at Everything POP. I have absolutely no idea what we ate.

We discussed our (lack of) plans for the day. It was too late to go to MK (didn’t want to do just a half day there). I was ready to just relax at our resort and really rest up so that the rest of our trip was good. But Ron knew I really would have been disappointed not to go back to a water park, so he insisted we do just that. I could not decide between Typhoon Lagoon (had not played enough in the amazing wave pool the last time), or Blizzard Beach (since we had missed out on almost ALL the slides there). In the end, we decided to let faith choose our destination and just take whatever bus would show up first. Where would we end up going?

Typhoon Lagoon!

Awwwww, beautiful wave pool!

425.jpg

The first thing we did when we got there, besides getting a locker, was to go on Crush’N’Gusher a couple of times. There is great theming here.

One thing I have to say is that I LOVE how many photopass people we saw that day!! How else can you get pictures of this?

Photo0544FourBySix.jpg

Photo0545FourBySix.jpg

Then we spent some time splish’ splashin’ in the gigantic waves. When they stopped we got a photopass person to take our picture.

Photo0555FourBySix.jpg

Photo0561FourBySix.jpg

We decided to get in line for the family raft slide. It started raining, but the park remained opened and we were already yet anyway, so we stayed in line. Unfortunately, 10 minutes later, the inevitable happened. Yep, you guessed it, we heard thunder. We seek refuge in the souvenir shop and I really take my time walking around, checking everything, hoping to make the time go faster. It’s not very big though and soon we were just standing at the entrance of the shop with a whole bunch of people. At that point my mood was like the weather: I felt very sad like the rain , with a punch of angry like the lightning. :furious:

Up Next, What Do We Do? Do We Stay?

Day 10 part 2 - "We Are Pleased To Announce..."
August 20th, 2011

Two updates in a row today, aren't I nice? ::yes::

It was now our second time that we had to go through the water parks closing due to bad weather. Given how tired we had been at that point in our trip, what would we do?

Ron must have sensed how important it was to me to spend time in the water park, so he said we would wait it out. At some point I was ready to just give up, go back to our room, curl up in a ball and cry. Ron refused to give up though and suggested something incredible for him : to go walk around in the rain. I accepted, since I do love walking in the rain and it sure beats standing in one place for what seemed like forever. We passed by a food court and saw the soda fountain area COVERED with bees. :scared1: I quickly walked away!

Finally, after about an hour of waiting, we hear the bell of hope. Shortly after we see a lifeguard telling a family on their way out not to leave as they were reopening. We got in line for one of the Falls slide and shortly after we finally heard “We are pleased to announce that we are reopening” WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1: We cheered and soon enough it was our turn to go down the slide. We then quickly made our way back to Crush’N’Gusher, hoping for a short wait. It was actually worse than earlier as one of the slides was not working, but we went down twice anyway.

Photo0571FourBySix.jpg

Photo0573FourBySix.jpg

It was now time for more fun in the waves. We rode the waves, dove under, took them face first, etc. It was awesome!! Sorry, no action shots as we had put the camera in the locker by then, but we did get more photopass shots.

Even though I knew it wouldn’t be that great, my curiosity about Gangplank Falls (the family raft ride) was too big and we got back in line. It was the only slide I had never done at Typhoon Lagoon. It turned out better and longer than we expected, and we exited soaked. Fun! We took the lazy river to the other side of the park and went down the speed slide (Humunga Kawabunga) twice. We got back to the surf pool for a little while. We took even more photopass pictures. I wanted some that included the setting sun, but it was either not possible, or the guy did not understand. I still like the pictures though.

Photo0609FourBySix.jpg

Around 6:30pm, tired but happy, we exited the park and went back to POP. We got dinner, Penne Alfredo for me, and Fried Chicken (Mom’s Dinner) for Ron.

We spent the rest of the evening watching TV in the room, and went to bed shortly after 10pm. It turned out to be a great day after all.

Sounds like a lovely day. I've never been to a WDW waterpark. I never go to waterparks other than when I have to since it's a school outing lol

Sounds like a great day!

I've never done a Disney waterpark, but today we went to a little water park close to home and Maddie loved it! So, we may try to work one into the next trip. :thumbsup2

You guys got some awesome photopass pics too!

I am waiting (not so patiently) for my children to be a little bit older so that I can take them to the water parks! I haven't been since I was a teen! Looks like you had a great time (minus the rain and bees)

Ahhh, it's too bad you don't like water parks. We have such great ones in the area! But I must say, I'm not sure I'd like them so much if I had to supervise a whole bunch of children/teenagers!

Yay! for Maddie loving her experience at a water park. Even if she can't do everything, there are still so many things she can enjoy, including some great kids areas. So I do hope you find a way to try one out next time you guys are in Disney. :thumbsup2

I don't know how old are your kids, but I know my love of water parks started very young. My aunt's work always had a "company day" at one of our local water parks, so every year she would invite us to join them. We spent hours playing tag in the wave pool in between people's legs :rotfl: and enjoying the smaller slides. Gradually we worked our way up to the bigger slides.

Disney's waterparks have some great areas for the little kids. Now granted it can be a little expensive, and depending on how short your trip is you might not want to sacrifice a day (or half a day), but I'd say go for it! :goodvibes

Day 11 part 1 - Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!
August 21th, 2011

*Before I start this new day, I just want to say that I had waited until the next day and we did so much that I forgot some stuff/might write it in the wrong order. Sorry for that*

Fresh from a relaxing day and an early bed time, we woke up early and took the bus to the Magic Kingdom. We got there really early so I was able to get this picture with almost no one in the shot.

DSC03715.jpg

DSC03716.jpg

We took a spot on the left side and waited for rope drop. During the Welcome Show there was this older man singing along to the song and he knew all the lyrics. It made me smile to see how we all share the same love for Disney, young and old, men and women. Since I had taken pictures of the show on our first MK day, I decided to just enjoy it and take it all in.

DSC03717.jpg

I teared up again at the welcome show and walking on Main Street. As you’ve all probably realized by now, we love photopass and stopped at every chance we got. That morning was no different.

Photo0614FourBySix.jpg

Photo0624FourBySix.jpg

We even got a Magic Shot. I seem to have a signature face for these.

Photo0620FourBySix.jpg

When I had first organized our days, my plan was to spend our first day in MK doing Tomorrowland and Fantasyland, and our second day doing the other lands. However, we got so much done that first day that we were able to stray from the plan and do something unplanned: meet some popular characters. Who did we decide to meet? I’ll give you a couple of hints.

DSC03718.jpg

DSC03719.jpg

If you guessed the fairies, you got it right! We were about fifth in line, so it took no time at all. We first met Vidia, who loved that we had matching dresses. She asked how I got my dress to be that color, and then told me “I get the color of my dress with some raspberries and blueberries, and a bit of gooseberries. But don’t tell Tink!” She spoke so fast that I did not catch everything else that she said (and even that I had to have Ron help me), but she was fun!

Photo0625FourBySix.jpg

Photo0627FourBySix.jpg

Photo0632FourBySix.jpg

Then of course we met Tinkerbell, who was also very animated. She loved my ears (as did many characters), and I told her that I loved her wings. She said she had just gotten them washed, and that it took 3 hours to dry. Before we had left for Disney we had asked Ron’s DD what one autograph she wanted us to bring back for her, and she had said Tink. When we told her that she signed a page in my journal (on top of signing my autograph book) with a special message for DD. That page still hangs on her wall.

Photo0636FourBySix.jpg

Photo0639FourBySix.jpg

Photo0642FourBySix.jpg

Ron went for the Peter Pan pose! I tried the Tink pose, but missed the legs.

Photo0647FourBySix.jpg

Photo0649FourBySix.jpg

We got out of the fairy garden pretty quickly and walked to Frontierland. On the way we passed the area where we had eaten lunch a week earlier.

DSC03720.jpg

DSC03721.jpg

Our goal was to get FPs for Splash Mountain.

DSC03722.jpg

Unfortunately, it was closed for the morning and they were not distributing any fastpasses, so we got some for Big Thunder Mountain instead. Here's an empty SM boat.

436.jpg

We walked back to Adventureland, where Ron had the bright idea to look straight into a canon.

DSC03724.jpg

DSC03726.jpg

I don’t know why he’s making this face, but it’s kinda funny.

DSC03725.jpg

As you may have guessed, our first ride of the day was Pirates of the Caribbean. I got some blurry (no flash) pictures inside.

What would our second attraction of the day be?

Up Next, Searching For A Paintbrush

I am glad that you and Ron were fine in the morning. It is so awesome to just sleep in and forget your plans sometimes. We had to do that one morning two trips ago, because we were all too tired to get up. Good thing you decided spend your day at Typhoon Lagoon. Even with the hour rain delay, you got so much done. All of the Photopass shots are really awesome too.

Awesome start to your MK park. I know what you mean about loving all the parks. MK is my third favorite WDW park. Since AK my least favorite (which I still love) is unlike anything near where I live, I still need to see it every trip. We have not seen any of the fairy movies, so I am only familiar with Tink. The other fairy does seem fun though. Most of our dark ride pictures come out blurry too. Crap will not even try to get shots anymore and discourages me from doing so as well. I am glad you still tried though.

I have so been in your shoes after the DTD evening that you had! Miguel falls asleep so easily. Me, not so much. Thankfully, I can normally get to sleep pretty quickly at Disney, but I do have the occasional night where I just toss and turn. It is so frustrating to be in a hotel room with no escape when you can't sleep! :headache: I'm glad the next day ended up being much better. I can't believe how many PP pictures you got at TL! I swear, we only saw one photographer there the whole time! You guys have so much luck with PP! :thumbsup2 And speaking of, I love the pictures with Tink! So cute!

YOU MANIAC, TINKER BELL! YOU'VE BLOWN UP MY SANITY! GOD DAMN YOU, GOD DAMN YOU TO HELL! And that's all I gotta say to today's update. But in all seriousness I'm still cool with liking her. One thing I didn't mention in my TR was that before I met Rosetta there was a man who clearly didn't feel like going in there but he went there anyway and felt a little embarrased maybe? Basically the woman who was with him was telling him to "show his muscles" to Tink and he just didn't wanna do it because he was right beside Tink and she was saying things like: "Come on show me your muscles!" and she turned her back towards the man and wanted to be surprised and wanted to see if he was strong or not she told him once she turns back around she wanted to see the man flexing his muscles.

But of course the man was embarrased to do it and then Tink said something along the lines of: "I thought you were a Sparrowman. I thought you were meant to be tough." Or something like that I don't know.

Okay enough rambling on about my experiences, here's the link to the next update in the TR, Mel: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2804019&page=4

Oh and while I'm on the subject of my TR, I'm gonna upload some more pictures. Hopefully this time it'll be pictures of the parks so stay tuned on that.

Your day at Typhoon Lagoon looks like fun! I'd like to try a water park again, it's been so long, and I actually really liked TL! I love all of your photopass pics that you got there, especially the ones that they took behind you guys, those are really cute! :thumbsup2

Yay for rope drop at MK! Isn't that such a great way to start off the day? :yay: You can't not cry a little watching that show!

The fairies are so cute, I love Tink! I'd like to meet her, but I'm so nervous in front of characters that actually talk!

We definitely learned that we need more sleeping in/do almost nothing days on our next trip. Especially since we are not big on taking mid-day breaks, then we at least need mid-trip breaks. I'm very glad we ended up going to Typhoon Lagoon though. You're right that we did so much, and had the most amazing luck with photopass that day!

I too have not seen any of the fairies movies, so I had no idea who Vidia was. I liked her spunk though. I did buy one of the movies months ago to know a bit more what it's all about, but haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

I rarely take inside shots on dark rides for that very reason. But once in a while I do try.

Why does it seem like it's always the men who can fall asleep easily? I seriously only know one woman who is sleeping before her head even hits the pillow! Maybe we just think too much?

I don't know if it was luck, or if we were just good at spotting the photopass people. I do know that they seemed to consistently be at the bottom of Crush N Gusher though.

Tink was a lot of fun to meet. And I love Ron's face as Peter Pan.

Hope you get over your shyness and get to speak with Tink on your next trip. I'm usually not very good at coming up with stuff to tell them, so it's nice when they are just chatty by themselves.

Looking forward to seeing some of your park pictures. I did finish commenting on your TR just now. :)

Hope you get a chance to go back to a water park soon. I love them a lot! We had to ask for the picture from behind, it was not offered to us.

I don't think it's possible to start a day at MK with the rope drop show and not cry, you're right!

I'm very shy in general, and have a hard time starting a conversation with anyone, let alone a face character. The fairies were so chatty though, it made it easier.

Day 11 part 2 - Searching For A Paintbrush
August 21th, 2011

After visiting the pirates it was getting close to 10am so we decided to take the first raft to Tom Sawyer Island and test our luck in finding a paintbrush. For those of you who don’t know, TSI usually opens about an hour after park opening. Also, every morning CMs hide a few paintbrushes all over the island. If you find one, you get a prize, most often some fastpasses for either SM or BTM.

We were unsuccessful in finding a paintbrush, but we did see two families that had found one. I wonder where they had been hidden. Anyway, despite our lack of luck we had fun exploring the island. First we went to the Fort where Ron pretending shooting the people on Big Thunder.

Also at the Fort we admired some horses’ (and men’s) butts. :rotfl2:

Then we crossed the bridge back to the first island and found some sparkling gems in a cave.

Finally we on this precarious barrel bridge, and Ron almost fell off (not really, but he posed for the camera).

DSC03736.jpg

DSC03738.jpg

Our adventure on Tom Sawyer Island made us want to go on even more adventures, so we decided on a 3 month journey on the Jungle Cruise. The queue was pretty empty, so we had a short wait.

DSC03741.jpg

But despite our short wait, I took LOTS of pictures of the queue.

Unfortunately, we were seated in the middle of the boat and were not able to take picture of the actual ride.

All these adventures had made us hungry. What should we eat?

Up Next, The Mother Of All Cinnamon Rolls

Too bad you couldn't find a paintbrush. We were lucky enough to get one, it was just on the ground next to the pathway. It wasn't really hidden very well, so I think a cast member was just dropping them around randomly.

"Hello my friends, welcome to the world famous Jungle Cruise. We're off on a scenic cruise to find the lost expeditation and recover some foul evil archifacts. Please keep your arms and legs inside the boat, actually please keep all of you inside the boat."

Never went on the Jungle Cruise, heard it's supposed to be quite cheesy but whatever. Must've been a slow morning if no one was there.

Ah Ron your always a great big goofball.

I actually went past Tom Sawyer's island when I was on the Liberty Square Riverboat on the first day of my trip actually. It was one of the sights to be seen on the riverboat. Who knew eh?

And as for your question about my trip planning well it's been put on hold for the time being because of "Money issues" shall we say? But whatever I'll have the park pictures up as soon as I can, Mel. And oddly enough Pirates of the Carribbean was the very same ride I went on after seeing Tinker Bell and Rosetta and yet the same thing happened with you only during the day! Coincidence or what?

Ahh, lucky you! We were on the first raft, but were amongst the last to step off of it so if they were pretty visible it's no wonder we didn't find any. Oh well, we had fun anyway!

The Jungle Cruise is totally 100% cheesy. It can be very funny if you like dry humor and get a good skipper, or kinda boring if you get a bland skipper. It's all luck. But we like it anyway. It's nice and relaxing.

Speaking of Liberty Square Riverboat, that's exactly what my next update is about. Seems like we did a lot of the same stuff!

Hopefully your money issues get resolved quick and you have your chance to go back to WDW.

Day 11 part 3 - The Mother Of All Cinnamon Rolls
August 21th, 2011

After our two adventures on TSI and the Jungle Cruise, we were getting hungry. I’m pretty sure we had sorta skipped breakfast. This is where things get confusing though. According to my notes, Ron went to get a Dole Whip while I walked to the Main Street Bakery, came back, found a table, and then left again when I sat down with my food. He then went in search of a bathroom, but got sidetracked and came back with more food. Two things don’t make sense here according to my pictures. First, I have no photo of him with his Dole Whip, but do have that exact photo much later in the day. Second, I took a picture of my uneaten food exactly one minute before I took a picture of his food. Why, oh why, would I sit at a table and stare at my extremely yummy looking breakfast while Ron went out to go to the restroom? So here’s what I think REALLY happened.

Ron went out to search for a restroom, while I walked towards Main Street. I got stopped by the Dance Party, so I watched it a little.

As soon as the way had been cleared, I crossed the street and entered the Main Street Bakery.

I had my eyes set on one specific item since before I had even left Canada. What was it, you ask?

A cinnamon roll. And not any cinnamon roll, but the MOTHER OF ALL CINNAMON ROLLS!!! That thing was HUGE! And oh so delicious!

In the meantime, Ron had gotten sidetracked and ended up getting a Chili Cheese Dog from Casey’s Corner. If my cinnamon roll was the mother, his was the FATHER of all hot dogs. It was gigantic. Ron had arrived at the Bakery shortly before I was done getting my food, had gotten a table for us, and was nice enough to wait for me to take a picture of his food before taking a bite.

Contemplating whether it will fit...

Let's try it!

For some reason after we were done we decided to walk to the beginning of Main Street and take the train to Frontierland. But not before taking a picture of the monorail, of course!

Apparently, LOVE was in the air.

It was time for more FPs, so we got Jungle Cruise.

Then we went to watch The Enchanted Tiki Room.

We were both underwhelmed with the new *old* version of the show, and actually preferred the Under New Management version. What can I say, we are weird. Though according to my baby book, I did like the classic version back when I was 2 years old!

We crossed over to Liberty Square and set sail on the Liberty Bell Riverboat.

We both seemed to be in a picture taking mode, so be prepared for an onslaught of photos from our short cruise on the Rivers of America. *I tried to remove any duplicate, but some may have slipped by me.*

I told you we took lots of pictures. So many, in fact, that I need another post to put them all!
