Zombie Apocalypse and Pixie Dust - A 2 week Disneymoon (PTR link 11/14)

Same here. It's nice that you can take a break from the baby for at least a few or so. And I am intrigued about what you got Peanut, on a none disney note for me I had my trip to just the Aquarium in London not the film museum just the Aquarium and damn was it awesome. Saw all kinds of sea life while I was there like Jellyfish, Sharks, Sea Turtles and even Penguins and it was actually my first time exploring London as a whole. It's certainly a place I want to come back to especially for the Aquarium.

Holly cow did it ever rain hard by the looks of your pictures and when I mentioned the 3 of you I was also talking about Donald Duck from mexico. After what you said about KP I will have to try it next time were at epcot. Sorry about the confusion

I want to apologize not only for the lack of updates, but also for the lack of comments on all your TRs and PTRs. I read everything, but my life has been so CRAZY BUSY lately that I'm in a constant state of "catching up". This was our second weekend in a row where we spent a night not at home. This time we stayed at his brother's, since we had dinner with him on Friday, then a 1 y.o. birthday party next door the next day. There were LOTS of cute babies.:cutie: And I don't even see any slowing down for at least another 2 weeks. What was that about me trying to relax before Peanut gets here? Well, that ain't happening! :scared: At least almost everything is "fun things", so it's not so bad. :)

I will *try* to get the Quebec City update up tonight, but I can't promise anything.

Hooray for a babymoon! Can't wait to see the pictures!

Thanks for the info about your rest days! It is appreciated!

It was nice to get away for the weekend, but not being home makes it hard to stay on top of things!

Sounds like you had a nice weekend. How nice of your Mom!

It was short, but it was a nice weekend. :goodvibes

Well, we had a break from "normal life", but it's hard to take a break from the baby since it follows me in my belly everywhere I go. :rotfl2:

I love Aquariums! We almost stopped at the one in Quebec City on our second day there, but we were just too tired and headed home instead. I'm glad you had fun at the London Aquarium.

:rotfl: NOW it makes sense when you said "the three of us".
It did rain very hard. I was mostly surprised that it rain that hard non-stop for close to 3 hours!

I hope you do try KP (or whatever name it will go by after the change this summer) as it is a lot of fun, and a nice way to explore the countries.

Real Life Update - A Babymoon in Quebec City
March 2012

For Christmas my mom gave both my brother and I a one night package for 2 in Quebec City. We couldn't use it during the busy spring-summer months, and winter can be quite cold and snowy in Quebec City, so we waited until the weather got warmer. My brother used his the weekend before us, while we went March 24-25. He got much warmer temperature than we did, but it was also uber crowded because of the Red Bull Crashed Ice event.

Ron and I got up early (for a weekend) on Saturday morning and were on the road by 9am. It was pretty cloudy when we left, but luckily the sun was out by the time we reached Quebec City. It takes just a little under 3 hours to get there and I usually do it in one shot (I've been quite often, but it was Ron's first time). However, with the pregnancy we had to make not one, but two stops.

Quebec City was built over 400 years ago. At that time, the city was surrounded by tall stone walls and protected by a fort called "La Citadelle". Most of the walls, as well as the fort, remain and are now called "Le Vieux Québec" (the old Quebec). This old part, as well as a newer part, are situated on very high cliffs and are known as "La Haute Ville" (the high city). This is the main touristic part of the city. "La Basse Ville" (the low city) is where most people live. To get from one to the other you either have to drive up very steep hills, or if you are walking you can take stairs or even elevators!

Our hotel, which was called Chateau Bellevue, was situated within the walls in the Vieux-Quebec. We didn't have too much trouble finding it.

029.jpg

We checked in, but our room was not ready as it was only noon. The guy at the reception desk told us it would be ready by 2pm. Ron was surprised by how many guests/people he saw speaking English at and around the hotel (Quebec City is almost all francophone), but I guess it's to be expected in the touristic area.

Since our room was not ready we went out to explore the area. Pretty much everything is accessible by foot from there (we had an excellent location!), so we left the car with the valet parking. We were hungry so we left the walled city and went to Grande-Allée, which is a street full of restaurants and bars. We ended up stopping at this place called Cosmos for brunch. It looked very nice in there, but I forgot to take any photos. In fact, we did not take lots of pictures the whole time we were there. Sorry. Ron was just not in a picture mood, and it wasn't so "new" to me since I had been several times, and even lived there for a year.

After brunch I lead Ron towards "Les Plaines D'Abraham", which is a huge park where a big battle took place some 400 years ago between the British and the French colony. We could have walked there for hours, however a lot of the snow had not melted yet, plus my legs were already hurting from the walking!, so we just walked back in the general direction of our hotel. This park is all alongside the St-Lawrence River, and at some point we took a long wooded path/stairs with a view of the river. Here is the first picture we took, of the view from there:

003.jpg

Eventually we reached the Vieux-Quebec and had in our sight "Le Chateau Frontenac", one of Quebec City's most well-known landmark.

004.jpg

Just to the left of the Chateau in this picture is actually where our hotel was, so you can see we had a prime location!

005.jpg

That little green building in the bottom right corner of the photo is a great place for snack, but I'll come back to it later.

By then it was late enough that we could go check our room. I did not forget to take photos!

006.jpg

007.jpg

008.jpg

The hotel had a nice direct view of the river. However, when we opened the curtains to our room we saw this :

010.jpg

Oh well! It's not like we were going to spend the whole weekend looking out our window anyway. My brother payed extra for the water view, but I decided to pay extra for a king sized bed instead. We definitely got used of that! As we were resting in the comfy bed, I realized that I had not felt Peanut move once that day and I started to worry! They say when that happens to drink ice cold orange juice and to lie down. I hate orange juice, but I drank some anyway. Luckily, she started moving shortly after. Phew! What a scare! We rested some more, and watched Curling! of all things on tv. We also got to try the super cool multi-jets shower. (oops, no pictures of the washroom area). While it was a nice shower, it took us 5 minutes to figure out how it worked! Hahaha

After a nice rest we were ready to head out again. I liked how the hallway looked, for some reason.

011.jpg

We walked back towards the river and I made a stop at the green building (from earlier) to get some "tire sur la neige". They pour maple syrup on fresh show, then give you a small wooden stick (kinda like a thick popsicle stick) for you to wrap the now harder syrup around. Then you jsut lick it like a lollipop. Sweet and tasty!

We stopped by a nice lookout to check out the scenery. Down below we could see the ferry that links both sides of the river.

015.jpg

In this picture you can see the other side, as well as another little touristic area just below the cliff called "Petit Champlain".

016.jpg

Besides the very steep streets, another way to get down there is to use the "funiculaire":

017.jpg

014.jpg

We continued our walk through the Vieux-Quebec. I took a picture of the front of Chateau Frontenac.

018.jpg

We stopped in a little tourist trap, err I mean shop, to buy Ron's DD a little souvenir. We bought a pen that light up and said "J'aime Québec". Unfortunately, it stopped working after she wrote one sentence with it. Oh well.

For some reason Quebec City was having it's St-Patrick's Day parade a week left, but we missed it by a few hours. We were also now passed closing time for most stores, so we just walked around and took pictures.

019.jpg

021.jpg

Here is one of the "doors" that link the Vieux-Quebec to the newer part.

023.jpg

And here is a view of the newer skyline.

025.jpg

I thought these flowers looked nice. Plus, my mom loves tulips.

026.jpg

We continued our long walk towards our destination : Cafe Sirroco. With our package came a gastronomic dinner at a choice of four restaurants, and this was the one we chose. I was not a fan of any of the appetizers, so Ron took mine. He had scallops, as well as a plate of seafood tartar, which he both LOVED. For our entree we both had Filet Mignon. It was very good, but not the best we've had. For dessert Ron had a strawberry-mango sorbet while I had a chocolate lava cake. His sorbet was very yummy. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about my lava cake. The chocolate in the middle was not hot and melted enough and the whole thing kinda tasted like it was store bought. Overall though we really appreciated our meal. I'm sorry for no picture, but for some reason I feel much more self-conscious of taking food-picture in a restaurant here than at Disney.

Ron wanted to take a cab back, but I was too full and wanted to walk it off. We went back towards Grande-Allée to see it lit up at night. Eventually we made it to our hotel, and I took this one (blurry) picture of the view at night.

028.jpg

We watched a bit more tv, then went to bed. We tried to sleep in the next day, but were up before 9am. We headed to the free-complimentary breakfast, but for some reason Ron did not feel like eating. He should have though! You'll soon see (read) why.

We checked out, pout our luggage in the car, then drove off. I wanted to head to the biggest local mall, "Les Galeries de la Capitale". We walked around a bit, but Ron was very grumpy. He really should have eaten breakfast! So we stopped for some fast food from "Ashton", where I had some good poutine.

With his belly full and his mood improved, we continued our visit. I was in search of a dress for the two upcoming weddings we have to attend. I found one, but it's black and I really wanted color. I bought it anyway, just in case. I also wanted to visit the Toys R Us because I knew their Babies R us section was the biggest of the province. That's where we bought two things for Peanut : a game for when she will be 3+ (I know, it's a while away, but it's to build forts and houses inside and I was worried it wouldn't be sold anymore in 3 years), and her coming home outfit. We did not take any pictures of those, so I'll have to do that and post it in the next baby update. While in the store Ron took the only picture of me from the entire trip :

030.jpg

I'm as tall as 15 hands! And Ron is taller than 8 stars. LOL

The other reason why I wanted to head to that mall was to show the entertainment part of the mall. See, it has an inside amusement park, complete with a mini roller coaster! You can see the track (in red) in a couple of the pictures.

032.jpg

033.jpg

034.jpg

035.jpg

And this completes our mini weekend babymoon. We got in the car and headed back home. We got back around dinner time, relaxed, and went to bed. I know this was a wordy update, but I hope you enjoyed it.

Once again good to know you had a good time in Quebec. Funny you should mention the wedding because I'm skipping a wedding to one of my relatives. Mainly because I hate sitting about for a really REALLY long time, there isn't anybody that I know of and it's boring to be honest with you. So while my family goes to the wedding I'm having the weekend all to myself! The wedding's on next saturday by the way. Anyways Quebec looks like a nice place to be but I wouldn't be there when it's extremely cold though.

Quebec City is so pretty!! Sounds like you had a nice weekend away!

It was great! Even though we didn't do that much, it was nice to just sit back and relax together. :goodvibes

I enjoy going to weddings and chatting friends and family I haven't seen in a while, but I do understand not being so fond of it when you know no one. The second wedding I have to attend is my brother's, so there is no way I would skip that one!

Quebec City is a beautiful place, but obviously it's much better to visit in the summer (unless you like winter sports). There are so many other spots I would have wish to check out, but it will have to be for a later trip.

What a wonderful weekend getaway!

It was really great. Though I am hoping to get Ron to revisit Quebec City when 1. I can walk more, and 2. It's nice and warm in the summer.

I am so glad that you and Ron got to have a romantic weekend away! Quebec City looks absolutely beautiful. I would love to visit Canada one day. Sadly, I have never been. :sad2:

I remembered reading about your wedding, and just saw babymoon in your thread title, so I wanted to stop by and say congratulations on your pregnancy :goodvibes

God so many people wanting to say congradulations for the pregnancy and hasn't been a whole year yet. I bet at work it's all the same there right Mel?

Just caught up with your update about the babymoon! That is so awesome you two planned a trip before baby came! I wish I had done that!

It looks like such a beautiful city! I have never been to Canada. My best friend is from Toronto and swears she is going to take me soon:goodvibes

Hope you are feeling good! I know you guys must be getting so excited!

Sorry again for the lack of update, but it's for a good reason. We jsut came back from a weekend in Toronto! We went there for the wedding of one of Ron's friend. It was great, and another nice getaway just the two of us (well, sometimes just the two of us :rotfl:). We visited his family, attended the beautiful wedding, and went shopping at the Disney store! Of course lots of purchases were made there, including my birthday gift from Ron. :cloud9: I'll do a very mini TR for this soon (didn't take much pictures at all), then go back to our regular Disney programming. Besides celebrating my birthday next weekend, my crazy busy schedule is finally starting to slow down!

It was nice. And we just came back from yet another weekend away which was even better!

I hope you get a chance to visit Canada as well one day. Though to be honest, I have only visited Florida, Virginia Beach and Cape Cod in the US...

Thank you! :goodvibes Hope you stick around to read the rest.

I love all the attention being pregnant gets me, and being congratulated all the time. It's a lot of fun. :)

We probably would have never planned a small trip if it hadn't been for my mom giving us the gift. It was great.

Quebec City is a really beautiful city, one of the most beautiful in Canada I think.

Speaking of Toronto, we just came back from a weekend there! It was a lot of fun, but it certainly isn't as pretty as Quebec City or Montreal. ;)

Real Life Update - Babymoon #2 - A Weekend in Toronto
Easter Weekend, April 2012

Ron and I were very lucky in that we got to go on a second Babymoon. We had a wedding to attend in Toronto (for Ron's friend) and since kids were not allowed at the wedding, that meant another romantic getaway without Ron's DD. We did not visit the city at all, and I don't want to post pictures of people who none of you know, but I do have a few things to share. Even some Disney related pictures!

Ron's cousin came over to our place Thursday evening to we could all leave bright and early Friday morning. We managed to leave just a little after 7am, which was good because we had a 6+ hours drive ahead of us. Due to my pregnancy we had to stop every hour, but at least the drive was very pleasant and we spent the entire time chatting with Ron's cousin. With all the stops, we made it to Ron's cousin's house (sister of the one in the one with us) just before 3pm. His other two cousins, who also live in Toronto, got there seconds after us and we spent the next 2-3 hours catching up. Let me just say one thing, when all together, Ron and his cousins are LOUD. :rotfl: It was very nice, but it had been a long day so we Ron and I left for our hotel. It was a good 45 minutes away, but again time went by fast as we were listening to a Disney Podcast.

Soon enough we pulled in the parking lot of the Hilton Homewood Suites. The hotel looked very nice, and our room was AMAZING. It was a one-bedroom suite, which we got for such a low price (thanks to the wedding group discount).

When you come in you see the living room, which include a pull-out bed sofa.

001.jpg

Immediately to your right is the kitchen area.

002.jpg

You go through a door between the kitchen and living room and find the bedroom, with a super comfortable king-size bed.

004.jpg

On your right is the sink area and closet (no picture), and then the bathroom.

005.jpg

Just across the parking lot was this little area full of restaurants, a few bars, and a movie theatre. We walked around the whole thing, then chose to eat at this Italian restaurant called Alice Fazooli's. The food was very good and the waiters were so nice! After dinner we went back to the hotel, changed into our swimsuits and headed for the indoor pool. Though they say it is heated, the pool was too cold for my taste so we stuck to the hot tub. I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to fully immerse myself due to being pregnant, so I mostly just soaked my legs. Too bad, as my back could have used the hot water! We didn't stay too long, watched some tv in our room, then went to bed.

The next morning we got up around 9am and went to the complimentary breakfast. Ron was disappointed in no bacon, but I was very satisfied with the self-made freshly baked waffle. Yum! Back in our room we got ready quickly and went to the church for the ceremony. It was suppose to start at noon, but true to Filipino time, it was almost 1pm by the time it started. :rotfl2: The bride was beautiful, but we had forgotten our camera back at the hotel so no picture.

As soon as we came back to the room I was on a mission : going to the Disney Store! We have none in my province, so this was definitely a must! Since my birthday is soon, Ron gave me a budget and I just bought whatever I wanted as my birthday gift. Here is what I chose :

5 t-shirts.

023.jpg

024.jpg

025.jpg

026.jpg

027.jpg

And a journal in which to write my notes on our next trip:

021.jpg

022.jpg

While there I also bought this cute little outfit for Peanut. It should fit her either for Halloween, or for her very first trip in January :cutie::

020.jpg

We came back to the hotel, napped, then left for the reception. We forgot the camera AGAIN, so I went back to get it (it was a very short drive). I love what the bride and groom had in place of a guest book : In a picture frame was an image of a tree. Each guest would put some ink on a finger and make a leaf-fingerprint, then sign their name in it. So original!

The room was gorgeous. Here's the head table:

011.jpg

And here is a picture of Ron and I

014.jpg

All in all it was a great night. Food was good. By 9pm I was so tired that I thought I would miss dessert, but thankfully I caught a second wind. I was even able to dance quite a bit, despite being almost 7 months pregnant. I got to chat with another girl (wife of Ron's friend) who is due 4 days before me!

When we were ready to leave, Ron's cousin (same who drove with us) asked if he could come with us as he knew his sister would stay until the very end. Obviously we agreed, so he slept on the sofabed. Very early the next morning his sister called from another room and came to pick up her brother. After they left we went back to sleep, got up VERY late, checked out, and drove to his cousin's house. We picked up his cousin, as well as lots of baby stuff his other cousin had bought for us. On the way back his cousin slept while we listened to Disney podcasts and talked Disney. We stopped by Ron's brother's house, as some of the baby stuff was for him. We got home just in time for me to watch The Amazing Race.

Partly because of the chat with Ron's cousin, which caused us to revisit how we met, got together, decided to get married, etc., and a little test he had us do on our respective "love language", and partly just because we were "away", I feel like our love grew stronger. Things had been a bit stressful lately, and this was just what we needed. :cloud9:

Oh, and I had not posted the picture of the "coming home" outfit we had bought for Peanut in Quebec City, so here it is :

028.jpg

I promise to be back to Disney update soon. These past 6 weeks were crazy busy, but it *should* slow down after my birthday.

cute shirts! Such a mommy already-spending your birthday money on an outfit for the baby!

Love the coming home outfit, really cute.

That was a beautiful room for the reception, and I love the guest book idea.

You had two straight weekends away. That really is a babymoon. Quebec City is so beautiful. I love the old buildings. Sorry you did not get the warmer weather, but at least you beat some of the crowds. I know how you felt when Claudia was not moving. Twice when I was pregnant with Connor and once when I was pregnant with Xander I rushed into the hospital for lack of fetal movement. They were fine all three times, but it was still very scary. Glad she started moving again without a trip to the hospital. Any mall with rides in it is pretty cool. Rides and shopping are two things I enjoy very much.

Glad you got to catch up with family. That is always fun. I love going to the Disney store any time I go to a mall that has one. There are two where I live. A few trips ago, DH did not let me go due to time constraints. It felt weird leaving without going in. Glad you got to go and get some cute shirts. Claudia got some cute things too. That’s another reminder of how cute girls’ clothes are. You and Ron look adorable at the wedding.

Well not much to say on this bit other than glad to hear you enjoyed the wedding. Unlike me which I could care less about the wedding that's gonna take place this weekend for me luckily I have movies to tide me over. Which works out nicely for me cuz I'm a movie freak like that. I know a wedding is a special event for people I care about and I should give a crap about it but the actual stuff that happens at a wedding is not my idea of fun let's just say.

Oddly enough I rarely go to a Disney store mainly because there isn't one nearest to me and I can only go to a Disney store on the odd occassion if I'm in somewhere like Reading or Bristol where they will have one then I'll gladly go there if I get the chance that is.

Lucky you, getting to go on another babymoon! Isn't it wonderful how you can get to talking about how you met, the things you fell in love with, etc. and it makes you love your spouse even more. I love those kind of moments that reaffirm your love.

Your trip to Toronto looks like it was fun! It's nice that you guys can get away before the baby gets here! I love everything you got from the Disney Store, I actually bought that Lion King shirt too! And the baby clothes are adorable! :lovestruc

I bought the baby outfit with my own money, not my birthday money. Though I did have to resist spending my birthday money for even more stuff for her.

Ron loved the guest book idea so much, he was joking that we need to go back in time and do this for our own wedding.

It wasn't two straight weekends in a row (we had a few birthday parties the weekend in between), but pretty close. They both were nice, but Toronto was by far the best one, both in terms of fun, relaxing, and just the way we were with each other. :lovestruc

Claudia always seems to be the most active late in the evening, which makes it very hard to keep track of her fetal movements. There are days, like the time in Quebec City, where I get scared, but since I know she'll most probably be active later I just wait it out. And then she does move. So I think that's what been keeping me from going to the hospital.

I love rides and shopping as well. The Edmonton Mall (in Alberta, Canada) is suppose to be the biggest with the most entertainment, so I'd like to visit it one day. Too bad there isn't that much else that interests me enough to go over there.

I love Ron's family so much. They are a lot of fun to hang out with, and have all been so welcoming of me. They make me feel like part of their family. :goodvibes

If there were a Disney Store close to where I live, I think I'd be there all the time. Good thing it's far, because I'm sure I would spend a fortune there. Especially in a few years, when Claudia is old enough to buy her princess dresses.princess:

Weddings can be a lot of fun, but only if you have fun people to hang out with. Ron's family and friends are the type that LOVE to party, and drink, and dance, and they are so good at making me feel included, so I enjoy it a lot. Weddings with my family are much more subdued and not as fun. I'm sure when you get older and all your friends start getting married, the weddings are going to become more enjoyable for you. Then you'll have lots of other friends to drink/have fun with. I find the actual ceremony a bit long (even though some parts are really touching), but the reception is my favorite part.

Lucky you, getting to go on another babymoon! Isn't it wonderful how you can get to talking about how you met, the things you fell in love with, etc. and it makes you love your spouse even more. I love those kind of moments that reaffirm your love.

It was so great to talk about our beginnings, and just the thing we needed to remember why we love each other in this stressful time. :lovestruc I cannot thank his cousin enough to have started that conversation.

While Quebec City was all about sightseeing, Toronto was definitely all about FUN! Now that we were able to enjoy our time alone, I feel more ready to welcome this new baby into our family. :cloud9:

I love that Lion King shirt! I don't why though they always seem to have the weirdest colors for Lion King. I bought a Lion King sweatshirt at Forever 21 a few months ago and it's this weird shade of mustard yellow. At least this one is more pink. I know what I'll be wearing on my next visit to Animal Kingdom!
