Day 11 part 7 - "I Kissed A Monster"
August 21th, 2011
After visiting with the Princesses we walk back towards the hub, this time visiting all the stores on the other side. First was the always yummy Confectionary. Yummy Mickey Rice Treats!
My favorite store though was the Art Gallery.
*Little side story* I have an online friend (that I met on another message board) who is a huge fan of Disney. She has been more times than I can count, even though she’s only 20. She’s the one who helped me plan my first trip, introduced me to the Dis, and helped feed my addiction. She is now working at WDW for her third college program. Last year she worked in some of the Main Street stores, including the Art Gallery. Unfortunately, her last day was about 2 weeks before my trip, so I missed meeting with her. This year she’s working in Fantasyland and was one of the lucky CM who got to operate and close Snow White for the last time. She even got to load up Ben as the very last rider. You can read about Ben’s touching story here:
BEN’S STORY
Also on Main Street I took photos of this adorable little side street. I learned about it from another TR, and hope to be able to enjoy a quiet snack here one day.
I think at this point we watched Monsters Inc for a second time that day. Not as funny as the first time since some of the jokes are repeats, but still pretty good. We’ll definitely watch it again, just maybe not twice in the same day. Something funny did happen though. In the Monsters, Inc show, while people are entering the room and sitting down, the camera will show one person on the screen and add a funny caption under it, like “will buy everyone Churros after the show”, “feels the urge to get up and dance”, etc. Well, when we went to watch the show a second time, the camera showed me on the big screen with “has kissed a monster”. So Ron decided to lean in towards me so everyone could see who my monster was. LOL It was cute and funny.
After that I was in search for a milkshake, but couldn’t seem to find any. I think I looked in the ice cream place on Main Street, which is why we ended up in the Hub. There I took these pictures of the most wonderful statue ever, the Partner Statue.
Since I was unsuccessful in finding a milkshake, I settled for regular soft-serve ice cream, which I got in Adventureland.
Since we were in the area, Ron got another Dole Whip (or his first, depending on what really happened earlier that day).
After our delicious treats we wanted to ride Big Thunder Mountain. Unfortunately, it was down again, but they were distributing FPs so we got some. We also got several pictures of the empty trains going ‘round the mountain.
The sky was really pretty.
That mountain was down, but the other one was not, so we hopped on it.
Brer Bear and Brer Fox were being unruly again, but we had fun anyway. We must have gotten the first seat because we got pretty wet!
I *think* that by the time we got out Big Thunder was back on, so we went on it.
It was already past 8pm by then, so we were pretty hungry and set out to find a place to eat.
