UTICA, New York -- Republican John McCain made a small gain against Democrat Barack Obama and has pulled back within the margin of error, now trailing Obama by five points, 49.1% to 44.1%, the latest Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby daily tracking telephone poll shows.

He is beginning to cut into Obama's lead among independents, is now leading among blue collar voters, has strengthened his lead among investors and among men, and is walloping Obama among NASCAR voters. Joe the Plumber may get his license after all...

I would think the zogby numbers will be irrelevant. Early voting will carry serious weight I would think. Whatever shift in sentiment or support it came after the early vote.

Can't speak for anyone else, but that has been my stance on polls since 2000.

I know that feeling of desparation when my candidate is losing all too well. The clinging on to any positive polling number, the disbelief.

Sorry OP, but I think we will be a lot better off if Obama wins. But, like most Dems, I won't rely on poll numbers. We will have to wait and see for tomorrow night.

Once again, if I can survive 8 years of George Bush, you can certainly survive 8 years (I hope) of Obama.

Even given the positive polls for Obama, tomorrow can still swing either way, so both Obama and McCain supporters cannot take tomorrow's outcome for granted.

And, the losers (I hate that word) should note that the next election will be upon us much sooner than one would think, so it's not the end of the world
