Yuck tooth found in take out chicken

Once we got a takeout pizza from Dominos...(like 10 years ago)- I love mushrooms so my half had them...as soon as I opened the box I knew I was looking at a huge cooked spider on my half. DH tried to tell me it was just a gross looking mushroom since he thinks all mushrooms are gross. I made him take it back and they agreed it was a giant spider that must have fallen onto it before it went into the oven and gave us a fresh pizza- I only started eating Dominos recently and maybe 2 slices at that- even though I know it was a fluke happening.

:sick::scared:

about 1996 i found a full unprocessed chicken brain in a piece of chicken from hardees. whole thing. have not eaten at one since.

What part of the chicken were you eating????

I am fairly certain that Hardees receives their chickens already cut up with NO heads attached.

I used to work at a chicken place and the chicken was purchased in boxes divided by pieces--box of breasts, box of thighs, and so on. We "broke it down" by taking the pieces out, washing them and pulling off any extra fat. I really think we would have noticed a brain or any other odd looking piece.

As for the tooth: If there was bone or cartlidge on the outside of the piece before it was breaded (in order to get between the breading and the skin), the cook should have noticed even if the one breaking it down didn't. Of course it would seem that someone should have noticed if their tooth fell out in the chicken too. :crazy2:

I would at least take whatever it is and show the manager. Someone needs to be more observant.

Yes it WAS a tooth. My friend is a dentist and I took it to him and he confirmed. I got the chicken at a popular discount store. I went up there today and they filed all kinds of paperwork and opened a claim. I didn't want to give them the tooth in case we have any health issues later on down the line and need to have the tooth tested. They took pictures of it. There is dried blood inside the tooth. They get their chicken already prepared and frozen from a popular chicken brand and just throw in the fryer. I think DD will be fine cause the fryer should've killed anything on that tooth. I got my money back and will follow up with an email to their corporate office to make sure they know about it. I don't think we'll be getting chicken from the deli of this store again. Everyone there was very nice to me and just as sickened by it as I was. But none the less I want to make sure this store's corporate hdqtrs knows as well as the chicken hdqtrs.

Gag! This makes me glad to be a vegetarian.

IMO contact hte board of health and go from there. but you keep the object. it may be bone but keep it until someone figures it out. had a hunk of unmelted chocolate in M&M's one time and broke a tooth in half and they wanted me to send to them so sent them a peice of it. they paid for my root canal and fixed my tooth and said the equipment that melts the chocolate down just did not get all of it like it should have ..been leary of them since though as I do not liek to go to dentist on a good day....

a brain?? :scared:
Just reading that OP makes me sick. I cant blame you for being upset and I probably wouldnt just let it go either. I honestly dont know how people dont find that upsetting...Its not like it was just a hair or seomthing. Glad your kid didnt get hurt biting into it. They may not eat anymore chicken though lol
Good luck OP. I am curious as to how it turns out for you!

Urrrgh...this thread is making me think strongly of becoming a vegetarian...;)

I recently had a Coke at work and was really distracted (super busy), and it had been setting there for several minutes without being moved. I then took a drink of it and felt something odd when my teeth came together - almost like wadded up thread or something. It was a fly....:crazy2:

I did my best to keep thinking about the thread, but it didn't work too well.

From now on the top goes back on the Coke every time I put it down. :scared:

Now you don't really think he would have agreed it was a spider, do you? ;) J/K :goodvibes

OP, talk to the manager or even the corporate office, but the FDA won't particularly care. It doesn't really fall under the umbrella of responsibilities. :)

Better a fly than the bee my mother found in her coke. I had to take the stinger out of the inside of her cheek for her.

That was just a brain that had not been put through the processor to make those nuggets. What do you think they are made of besides all the leftovers from the chicken? ;)

That said my DH was at a factory that makes juice and was looking into a machine that grinds up cranberries and saw a rat running along an edge deep in the vat and brought it to the guy working there's attention. The guy said ah he will just get ground up with the cranberries and become part of the juice no big deal. :rolleyes1

Yeah, I haven't looked at a Chicken Nugget the same after watching Jamie Oliver's show that showed what went into them!

That happened to a relative of mine and actually caused some sort of heart issue after being stung several times in the mouth - don't remember the details though. Guess the fly was better (I've been making sure everything gets the cap put back on now though!) :rotfl2:

I asking a serious question: how do you know it was a brain? Did you know what a brain looked like or did you have to google it? I honestly can say I'd have no idea what a chicken brain looked like but now I want to know....

I think the OP meant a human tooth, although I can't imagine someone not noticing it missing!

How gross is that? We got take out chicken yesterday. My DD16 ate some of the left over last night after we all went to bed. When I got up this morning she had a tooth in a baggie and wrote on it, I FOUND THIS TOOTH IN MY CHICKEN. I asked her about it and she said it was under the breading. My dh and I are trying to decide if it could be part of the chicken like a beak? or something else although it looks like a tooth and this is gross, you can see the dried blood where it looks like it would be attached to your gum. I was going to go up and talk to the manager but my friend said not to do that yet and maybe I need to contact the FDA or someone first. Does anyone have any advice for me on what I should do? or what the proper protocol would be in this situation? Thanks

Hi,

Show the tooth to your dentist. If he can't tell by looking at it, he can drill into it to see what it's made of.

If it's a chain restaurant, I'd write to corporate headquarters and enclose the tooth.

If it's a local business, I'd let them know.

You could also contact the Board of Health in your city and report it.

You're lucky you didn't break your own tooth biting into it.

I'd hold on to the tooth and send a picture.
