You've Got a Friend in Me:TINKGURL & XOKTENOX's Adventures in WDW~UPDATE: 6/9 p.74

It will be a new experience for me..... it's usually just me and DD, this time we'll have 7 adults and 3 kids under 4 :scared1: I'm glad we'll have plenty of room thanks to your dad! I'm not gonna promise a trip report but if you friend request me on facebook you can follow along (your dad has my real name). We are all so excited to be going, and we fell in love with Old Key West a couple of weeks ago when we went! It is gonna be a long summer though ;) Anyway, your dad is so nice and funny, it was a pleasure to "meet" him! I can tell he is crazy about you girls

P.S. don't you just LOVE how they play Jimmy Buffet music on the bus to Old Key West?!!!!

Old Key West is awesome even to visit, and I'd love to stay there someday. I'm glad you guys could use those points. I agree about tink's dad - very nice guy. ::yes::

And who could not like a bus ride with Jimmy Buffet music? :cool1:

Memom, I can't believe you didn't jump on those points! What a good deal!

We didn't want to keep them from someone else, and we were still very iffy about our October plans. It thrills me to know you are going to be able to use them. After all our planning and changing plans, I am taking Brooklynn, and our friend Kay and her granddaughter are coming along. We'll be at Pop and be just fine, because the kiddie pool set-up is just perfect for what we need. Had it been a set family trip, we probably would have grabbed them, but it worked out well the way it did. :thumbsup2

Wow, that will be a big bunch! I'm sure you guys will have a great time. He was so excited to be able to get you guys so close together as he could!

I was just teasing about the TR. (Although I do love 'em! :))

I'm so glad you love OKW. As you know by now, we love it as well! And YES! I love the music they play on the OKW bus. Fiance and I heard some like it the other day and we were like, "Wahh! It sounds like OKW!" :guilty:

They do?! That makes me even more excited to be staying there! :goodvibes

I'm excited you're staying there too!

Hi ladies! I just wanted to let you know that I've been reading along and really enjoying your trip report! I'm sad to see it end, so I can only imagine how sad you were to have to leave!

Thanks so much! Don't worry, I still have several days left to update! So it's not over just yet!

I hope you get to stay there sometime! And thanks! You know they all loved meeting you at the Hippo!

Hi girls,

I was nearly crying at that last post I am sure it was very sad for you both! to have the best of times and then such a sad parting... but at least you know a reunion is within the not so distant future...

The fries at Beaches and cream looked de-lish! and so would love a sundae from there! I like Chris's top, Mickey but kinda in a cool subtle way

Hi ladies. I have been such a Disboards slacker lately! I got back just in time to catch up to your update about saying goodbye to each other. That was so sad, but what an amazing story that you have!

Congratulations Kristen on your engagement! It is so fitting that you both get to plan your weddings at the same time. ;)

Yay! So glad it's not over yet

I'm so happy that you guys got to rent out those points!

We are happy too! It really saved us!

It is so excited to be planning together. :goodvibes

July 28, 2010

We woke up around 8 and decided to have another relaxing day. It was already hot, so we decided to head to the pool. We swam until 11 a.m. or so. Then, we got cleaned up and headed to our bus station.

I have several favorite pics from this trip, and here’s one of them..Who would’ve known one of my favorites would be from the bus stop!

akdisney448.jpg

We were headed to DTD. Fiancé was excited to look in the new Ridemakerz place. But first, lunch! We got off at the Pleasure Island stop and headed to WPE. I was craving sushi! While I had sushi, everyone else had flatbreads. With our food in hand, we headed to their outside table area to eat, which happened to be right across from Ridemakerz! Here was our view while we ate:

akdisney449.jpg

I have to tell you, everything was GOOD. I was texting Kristen, who was done at the MK and headed to the airport. It was hard! I was so sad..first my family went home and now she was going home. That meant it was almost time for us to go home. I was NOT ready to do that.

After lunch, we went across to Ridemakerz..where Fiancé enjoyed every minute of it.

While we were in there, we saw cops right outside the door. They had some people cornered and were talking to them. Pretty soon, more cops showed up! We could not tell what it was about.

After looking in Ridemakerz, we decided to make our way to DHS since we were having dinner there later in the day. So first, we headed to the bus stop. The first bus that came happened to be for Saratoga Springs, so we hopped on that and got off at the first stop. Then, about 10-15 minutes later, the DHS bus showed up, which was better luck than Fiancé and I had when we used SS as a connection stop on our Spring Break trip. We sat there FOREVER waiting for a bus!

Once at DHS, we went our separate ways. Fiancé and I wanted to go draw some characters! So, Mom, Dad, and Sis headed to ToT to see if there were any FP’s left by chance and decided to meet us in the art shop. We went past the first part and right to the drawing session. They were letting people in and we happened to be the last two! We had a bet of who we were going to draw. I guessed Tigger and Fiancé guessed Mickey. They announced who we were drawing and it happened to be Piglet, so I was close! I mouthed to Fiancé “Ha Ha!” I can’t believe I forgot to take a pic of our drawings!

After we were done, we headed to the art shop to see if Mom, Dad, and Sis were there yet. They had Snow White drawings on display.

akdisney455.jpg

I just love looking in the art shop and admiring all the paintings I wish I could afford. There are some really beautiful ones in there!

When we were done looking around, we headed over to the American Idol Experience because I was dying to do it and it looked like it was going to pour any second. So, we hurried over there and got in line for the 4 pm show. While we were waiting for the doors to open up, sure enough, it started pouring! Of course, the warm-up guy was hilarious as usual. The only other notes I have are that the guy who won sang “Unchained Melody”. He was really good and had a nice wife and adorable daughter. We happened to see him later around the park and told him he did such a good job. It was still pouring when we got out of there, so we decided to be crazy and watch the 5 pm show. The girl who ended up winning sang a song that so many people sing there- “I Hope You Dance”. I thought she did well, but I had voted for someone else. So, I was not happy with the results. haha!

After we got out of the second show, the rain was letting up, so we hurried over to the Great Movie Ride, which was a walk on!

504-1.jpg

Seriously, we walked all the way onto the ride!

507-1.jpg

It was fun, but I was sad because the last time we were on there was with Little Guy. I was hoping we’d get the cowboy scene, but we ended up getting the gangster scene, which made me miss Kristen and Chris even more! Even though the guy’s accent was horrible, all I could picture was Chris doing this if he ever got a job at WDW. All I had to hear Chris say once was “Fuh-gedda-about it!” and I was content. haha!

We still had a little bit of time before our dinner ADR at Mama Melrose, so we headed to Streets of America to see if they happened to have any Power Ranger toys for Little Guy. No such luck. As we headed down near the LMA area, we could see a storm coming!

508-1.jpg

Of course, Fiancé went over and checked out the cars.:

509-1.jpg

Then, we decided to go check-in to our ADR a little early since it was about to pour again. I was so excited to be eating here again.

510-1.jpg

While we were waiting to be seated, I found the Hidden Mickey in the lobby! I won’t give it away in case anyone wants to find it on their own.

The food was great as usual. I had to have the penne alla vodka, which I added shrimp to. Even though we were on the DP and couldn’t order an appetizer with it, we decided to pay for bruschetta since we love it! Our waitress was so nice. She noticed Sis’s birthday button and brought out a chef’s hat that said Happy Birthday and her name. It also had Mickey heads drawn all over it. Then, she brought Sis out a cupcake with a candle on it. It was nice.

As we had to be rolled out of there since we were all so full, we headed to One Man’s Dream next. The rain was gone and it was turning out to be a nice night.

517.jpg

518-1.jpg

519.jpg

I always love walking around in there. There’s always so much to look at, and I love learning about Walt.
After we were done there, Fiancé and I wanted to draw again. So, we headed there while Mom, Dad, and Sis looked in some shops for a Power Ranger toy for Little Guy. Along the way, I saw this Toy Story 3 banner. I loved the movie and bawled like a baby.

520-1.jpg

WDW at night is probably my favorite time of the day. I always love how everything is lit up.

521.jpg

This time we ended up drawing Chip.

When we got into the art shop, I decided to buy the book that I had been debating on getting. It teaches you how to draw certain Disney characters. Fiancé and I thought it would be fun to bring home some of the “DHS magic”. I also bought this amazing Winnie the Pooh painting. It’s the classic Pooh and Piglet playing in the leaves. It’s so beautiful. I can’t wait to hang it up in our new apartment!

We met back up with Mom, Dad, and Sis. We decided to head over to ToT. The wait time said 45 minutes, but it ended up only being 25! While in line, they had the misters going on high and it was so foggy in the line that we could hardly see! I was also texting Kristen in line, who was sadly back at home by now. So, I sent her a pic of the ToT building. Once we got on the ride, there was a little boy in front of us who was screaming like a little girl. It was so hilarious. Sis and I were laughing so hard we had to hang onto each other.

We decided to walk back and just see how long the TSM line was. We figured it would be long, but we wanted to see how long. It said 95 minutes, so we decided to skip it. Mom, Dad, and Sis were ready to head back to the room, so we said goodbye to them. Fiancé and I headed in front of the Hat to watch Mulch, Sweat, Shears.

522.jpg

It made me sad because we watched them with Kristen and Chris. They were so good and sang some popular songs from when we were younger. There were so many people singing and dancing along. It was a fun way to end the night. When they were done, we headed out to our bus stop. When we got there, there was one waiting! We got off at the first stop once back to OKW and walked to our room. To get to our room, we had to walk past our bus stop. So, we decided to see if we could beat the bus, which still had a few other stops before ours. We beat it!

We headed to bed as soon as we got in. Even though we didn’t do a lot, the heat can sure make you tired!

~Up next: Early morning at MK!

Somehow, even on relaxing days in WDW, you still go to bed TIRED!

I love doing the drawing classes. In fact, it may be my favorite thing to do in DHS. :goodvibes

So, just randomly I decided to click on your '07 TR Link and HOLY COW! Your fiance must have lost 50lbs! That's awesome! Tell him WTG!

Aw! That picture of you, sis & Fiance sitting at the bus stop is such a good one! :)

I love that you're obsessed with sushi! I would seriously eat it every single day if I could! What's your favorite kind?

I've never done the animation thing at DHS... it looks like fun! I probably won't be able to try it out this trip, but hopefully one soon!

What section of OKW do you think we should try and get?

I know, having fun is tiring!

I think the drawing is one of our favorite things to do at DHS too!

Yes he did lose weight! We actually have started exercising..changed our eating habits..really made a difference!

Thanks girl.

You love sushi too?! Yay! Oh gosh, I have a lot of favorites. But here's some of the different ones I love: California Roll, Tuna & Avocado Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Las Vegas Roll, Crazy Tuna Roll, Tiger Roll, oh gosh I like a lot! What's your favorite?

It is fun! I hope you try it sometime.

Honestly, I don't think there's a bad section at OKW. We hardly used the Hospitality House. Also, the HH is the last stop at the Resort, so if you're far from there, you can hop on any bus and get off at HH. Also, if you're close to HH, it kinda stinks using that bus stop since it's the last one, so it sometimes gets packed. Also, we thought the main pool at the HH was pretty packed. We enjoy swimming at one of the quiet pools close to your area. But, if you want an area to request: If you look at the Resort map here on the DIS: http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/okwmap.htm

A great place would be Buildings 41, 42, 43, 44, 35, 34..that area. It's by a quiet pool and the Turtle Shack Snack Bar and the Arcade. If you want an area that's by a quiet pool, but still kinda close to the HH, then you want the area we just stayed in: Buildings 17, 18, 19, 20, 21.

I always feel like there is so much to do and see at WDW that no matter what the day, I always end it wondering how the time flew by so fast. The heat sure does make you tired.

We did AI for the first time in Feb. and we loved it. So fun! DD loved pushing all the buttons on the chairs and I think voted for one contestant just because she had on a hello kitty shirt. :rotfl:

Thanks girl.

Yes ma'am! Sushi is a big favorite of mine! California Rolls and Spicy Tuna Rolls are probably my top 2! I've never had a Tiger Roll... I like the name of it! :thumbsup2 Do you order the California Luau Roll from sushi bar at the Poly?

Good to know about the bus stop for HH! I think being near the Turtle Shack would be GREAT! Hopefully we can get a ground floor room in that area! Thanks so much!

My favorite time of day at Disney is nighttime also- so many colors and lights, and even a different mood.

Too bad you didn't take pix of your characters. It's always fun to see what they are having people draw and how they did.

Great that DF got to enjoy the Riderz thingy. I haven't seen it, but it does look like fun for the guys.

A relaxing day starting with some pool time sounds so nice. That is a great picture of the three of you. :goodvibes

Drew would have been all into the cars.

We all got spaghetti at Mama Melrose, but next time I may want to try the penne pasta.

That is such a good picture of the three of you at the bus stop!

I looooove sushi! Reading your update is making me crave it now!

I meant to tell you, I ended up buying that "Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World" because I remember your references to it in the TR. It's so cool!!! My Disney-obsessed friend found it in the bag in my car and skimmed a few pages, then informed that she's borrowing it when I'm done

Hi Tinkgurl!

That's a great picture at the bus stop....the background doesn't matter, it's the subjects of the photo that count.

I love the paint job on that Corvette with the "Do Not Touch" signs around it.

We'll have to go for sushi if we're ever at WDW together! Yes, I have gotten the Cali Luau Roll from the Kona sushi bar. It's good!

No problem. Any more questions? I'll try to help!
