You've Got a Friend in Me:TINKGURL & XOKTENOX's Adventures in WDW~UPDATE: 6/9 p.74

July 22, 2010 *continued*

More of tinkgurl’s day:

We left off heading back towards the Streets of America to find Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater for Little Guy. While we were walking back towards the Stunt Show, we saw that the Power Rangers were out! Of course, we had to get in line. Secretly, I was excited to be in line for the Power Rangers too. Growing up, Sis and I were big fans. Grandma even had costumes made for us by a friend. I was the Yellow Ranger and Sis was the Pink Ranger. Little Guy doesn’t really know who they are, but I told him they were cool and fought the bad guys. He said, “They beat the bad guys up?” I said, “Yeah!” And he said, “Cool!”

Of course, having three different people with cameras on the trip, we were bound to have tons of different pictures from the same moments. While we were in line, Sis, Uncle, Grandma and Grandpa were hanging out in the shade. Here’s what they were looking at:

300-2.jpg

As you can see, the crowds weren’t too bad back there. I think everyone was inside somewhere, enjoying the A/C! haha

I told Little Guy that once it was his turn, he had to do a cool pose like them for the picture. He didn’t disappoint!

First they met the Red Ranger:

momdisney164.jpg

Little Guy gave him a high five as he was leaving. He thought he was pretty darn cool. Then, we ran over to get in line for the Green and Pink Rangers:

momdisney166.jpg

akdisney315.jpg

He gave each of them a high five too. Haha, He was having a blast meeting characters. I was happy he was in a good mood. This day was pretty hot outside! While we were busy meeting the Power Rangers, Mom and Dad went to find some bottled water for all of us. As we met back up with them at the end of the street area, the Power Rangers started heading out. Each of them took a turn to run out and do a few poses before jumping in their car. Luckily, they were doing this right in front of us!:

akdisney316.jpg

akdisney317.jpg

After we waved by to the Power Rangers as they drove off, we headed towards the backside of Streets of America to find Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater. But first, we had to make a stop at the famous umbrella:

momdisney167.jpg

Fiancé, Little Guy, and Sis stood underneath the umbrella and we counted, “1..2..3!” and started the rain. Little Guy thought it was pretty cool. Of course, we had to do it a couple more times before we finally had to say, “Okay…time to go now.” Haha

I was really hoping that Lightning McQueen would still be out and he was! I remember when he was still new to DHS and they had different times that he would come out, but now I’m not so sure he does that anymore. Can anyone tell me if he still does that or if he just stays out all the time?

We got in line, which was out in the open..in the baking sun! I made Little Guy keep taking drinks of water while we waited, which then led to me hoping that he wouldn’t have to use the restroom before it was our turn to meet Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater. Luckily, he didn’t!

Of course, once it was our turn, Fiancé really wanted to get in the pics too. Cars is probably one of his favorite Disney movies. And if you remember, he and Little Guy watched it over and over the whole drive to WDW. First up was Tow Mater. For some reason, Little Guy thought it would be hilarious to sit in his mouth, haha:

akdisney318.jpg

Little Guy hugged Tow Mater, then they went over to Lightning McQueen:

akdisney320.jpg

As you can see, Little Guy thought he was pretty cool.

We still had a little time before our TSM FP return time, so I suggested we head over to see if Kitty from Monsters, Inc. was out doing meet ‘n greets. Everyone thought that sounded like a good idea since we were in a ‘meeting characters’ mood. Once we made it to where he usually is, we saw that the line was really long! I had never seen it that long before. So, we decided to skip out on that.

I remembered that Buzz and Woody are sometimes out in this area across from TSM, so we decided to check out that line, but it was even longer than the Monsters, Inc. line! There was a CM standing at the entrance to the line and told us that the wait was almost an hour!! We definitely decided to skip on that. We still had about 10 or 15 minutes left, so we decided to just hang out around the TSM area. Little Guy saw the barrel of monkeys and started acting like a monkey. I made him and Cuz stand by it so I could get a picture:

akdisney323.jpg

Then, we saw that some Toy Story soldiers walking out to do a meet ‘n greet! Little did we know, but this was going to be another one of those moments that we are going to remember forever. We hurried over and were the first ones in line. These soldiers were different than the usual ones. They just had their faces painted green, so they could talk to everyone. Little Guy ran right up to them and hugged them:

akdisney324.jpg

Then, they told Little Guy, Cuz, and Fiancé to stand behind them and wait. Instead of meeting and taking pictures, they walked around the area gathering up other kids and having them get in line alongside our three. Once they got enough kids, one soldier stood next to Fiancé while the other paced back and forth in front of the kids telling them that they were going to be recruited into the army.

akdisney325.jpg

Little Guy was being so cute. He just stood there with his hands in his pockets as the soldier paced back and forth and told them what they were going to have to do.:

akdisney326.jpg

First, they had to get down and get them 5 push-ups:

akdisney327.jpg

Then, they had to stand up and wait for their next command. Little Guy was taking this very seriously. He had his hand up to his forehead doing the salute the whole time.:

akdisney330.jpg

Then, they had to all face to the right:

akdisney328.jpg

Then the left, the back facing forward. Then, the soldiers took turns showing the kids 3 or 4 different poses that they could choose from. When they said “Go!”, the kids had to get into their pose. Of course, Little Guy chose his own pose, haha:

akdisney332.jpg

One of the soldiers would get real close to a few of the kids’ faces to try and get them to laugh. He tried it on Cuz and Cuz didn’t even blink!:

akdisney334.jpg

He stood there for almost a minute and then said Cuz could stand up. It was hilarious. Then, all the kids had to put their right hand up and repeat a promise:

akdisney335.jpg

I can’t remember what all they had to say, but it was really funny. Then, they had the kids all line up behind Cuz to take pictures.

Cuz:

akdisney336.jpg

Little Guy. This is one of my other favorite pictures from the trip:

akdisney337.jpg

Then, it was Fiancé’s turn:

akdisney338.jpg

As we walked away, Little Guy asked us if we were watching him the whole time. We told him how good he did and now all 3 of them were soldiers! He thought he was pretty cool. We were so glad that we skipped out on meeting Kitty or Buzz and Woody! Like I said, it was one of those moments that we’ll never forget and still talk about to this day!

With big smiles on all of our faces, we headed to use our TSM FP’s.

akdisney339.jpg

Little Guy was excited to be riding this one again.

akdisney340.jpg

While we were in line, he made sure to tell me that he was going to “beat” me again. During the whole ride, I could hear him laughing and saying “Oh yeah!” I was curious to see how he would do with the 3D glasses, but they didn’t bother him at all! Of course, as we got off, I told him that he did indeed “beat” me again. He got high-fives from everyone and said “That’s because I’m a solider now!” haha.

As we were walking away from the TSM area, Grandma and Grandpa decided that they were going to head back to the Contemporary and take a nap. I checked the time guide and saw that the next Playhouse Disney show was at 12:10, which was soon! So, we decided to head over there. Little Guy asked where we were going and I reminded him what it was since I had talked about the show with him before the trip. He was excited!

**Continued in next post**

**Continued from previous**

As we made it into the line, they started letting people in! Great timing! We found a spot to sit way over by the wall. It was perfect because Little Guy had room to stand up and dance if he wanted. A few minutes later, the show began! I’ve seen pics from TR’s of different hosts..here was ours:

akdisney343.jpg

She was great! First up, Mickey’s Clubhouse:

akdisney344.jpg

Of course, Little Guy was up dancing along to their singing:

akdisney342.jpg

I looked around and saw all the other little kids were doing the same. It was so much fun to see them having the time of their lives. It did make me a little sad and miss my childhood, but now I can enjoy Little Guy’s.

Mickey announced that it was Minnie’s birthday! Once Minnie left, he told all of us that they were planning a party for her and we were invited! Then, they went to get started setting up and Handy Manny came out:

akdisney346.jpg

I was really nervous that Little Guy would ask why Manny was so little compared to when he met him that morning at H&V, or any of the characters for that matter, but he never did!

I can’t remember why, but then some bubbles started coming down. All the little kids were having so much fun trying to pop them.:

akdisney347.jpg

After Handy Manny left, Little Einsteins came out.:

akdisney348.jpg

Of course, just like the show, we had to help Rocket blast off. Little Guy and I love doing this with the show, so we were excited. Then, they started singing their theme song, which Little Guy and I know all the words to as well. The rest of the family found it quite amusing that I knew all the characters and songs, haha.

After Little Einsteins, it was time for Pooh, Tigger, and Darby to come out:

akdisney350.jpg

While I do think the Super Sleuth thing is cute and Darby is nice, I just miss the old Winnie the Pooh shows! Once they were done, it was time for Minnie’s birthday party. We all had to be quiet and then when Minnie walked out, we all had to yell “Surprise!”

akdisney352.jpg

And then streamers came flying down from the ceiling. All the little kids thought that was so neat. Minnie was so surprised. They all thanked us for coming and helping. Then, they sang our favorite song to dance to: “Hot Dog, Hot Dog, Hot Diggity Dog”. I didn’t get up because I didn’t want to be in anyone’s way, but I did hold Little Guy’s hands like I usually do and danced on my knees. When the show was over, the lights came on and everyone clapped. It really was a cute show! I’m so glad we went.

Everyone was starting to get hungry, so we decided to head over towards Pizza Planet for lunch. As we walked behind the ‘big hat’, the High School Musical show was going on, so Little Guy and I were singing and dancing along. Once we get into Pizza Planet, we saw that the place was packed! There were people everywhere trying to find somewhere to sit. We decided to skip out on eating there and headed back out. We were getting really hot and decided that it was a good time to head back to the Contemporary and go for a swim. We also decided that we would grab something at the Contempo Café for lunch.

As we headed towards the exit, we stopped in one of the shops to see if there was anything worth buying. Before the trip, we were busy potty training Little Guy. I had gotten this cool WDW piggy bank for him and every time he would use the big boy potty, we would put some change in the bank. He knew he was saving up money to buy something cool at WDW, which helped with the training! It worked! So, he was on the hunt for something to buy with his money. Then, Fiancé and Little Guy saw the perfect thing- it was a big Lightning McQueen semi-truck that had a bunch of shelves for cars in the back. It also came with a few cars from the movie. I asked him if he was positive that was what he wanted to use his money on. He was sure, so we got in line to pay. When it was our turn, he handed the CM his money. I told her what the money was from and she told him he was such a big boy now. He got the biggest grin on his face. We thanked her and headed out.

We didn’t have to wait too long for a bus. We headed towards the very back so Little Guy could look out the window. I told him it was his job to tell me when he saw the MK gates. So, he held his brand new cars and leaned on the window to keep on the look out.:

302-1.jpg

303-1.jpg

A few minutes later, he starts saying “There it is! There it is!” And he was right:

304-1.jpg

Seriously, the second we drove under the gates, he hands me his hat and lays down on Fiancé’s lap and goes to sleep!

akdisney356.jpg

We had to laugh because we were so close to the Contemporary and he waited until the last minute to go to sleep. So, Uncle took him and Cuz up to their room. Mom, Dad, Sis, Fiancé, and I took the escalators up to the concourse level. As we walked into the Contempo Café, we saw Grandma and Grandpa having lunch! They were had a big table, so we went over and asked them if they would like to stay and talk to us while we ate. They said “Sure!”, so we left all our bags with them and went up to order.

I love eating here because all you have to do is order on a screen, pay with your receipt, then wait for your buzzer to go off. Fiancé and I each had the beef flatbread, which was really good! We told Grandma and Grandpa all about the Playhouse Disney show and what Little Guy used his money on. When we were all done, we all headed back up to the room to get changed for the pool.

~Up next for tinkgurl: Our afternoon at the pool and our night at the MK

Tink- what a great update! You totally had me grinning while reading it. Isn't it crazy how different (in a good way) touring the parks with a little one is from adults only? I think there is just so much joy that radiates from their little faces that you can't help but beam with happiness right along with them. :goodvibes

That sounds like a fantastic interaction with the toy soldiers. I have to say, that in the first pic of the boys with the soldiers, your FI looks way happy to be up there.

Love how cute Little Guy was with McQueen and Mater.
