WARNING: this message involves death. It's not grisly or violent, but just thought you should be forewarned...
So we (DM, DS and I) check into FW in our new-to-us motorhome, get all settled in for our second night, and are happy with our (WDW) world. At midnight, we hear a *scream*, and the 50ish lady in the motorhome next to us comes running out of her MH, holding her young granddaughter and dog, wailing, "He's dead, he's dead". By the time DM and I look at each other like "what should we do?", other campers have come running, and, within ten minutes, it's like an episode of COPS, at least six squads, an ambulance, etc, all parked on top of us with lights on bright, radios squawking, etc. I found out later that her DH, only 50, had had bronchitis, stayed at the campground that day because he didn't feel well, and "died in his sleep". Basically the whole "neighborhood" was up until 5 a.m. when the authorities finally finished. I don't relate this story to be macabre, but because I was so impressed with how WDW handled it.
I talked the next day with the neighbor on the other side of this lady, who had been one of the first ones on the scene. She told me that WDW took this lady, GD, and dog, and put them up in a cabin for free for the rest of their trip. A CM was sent to the trading post for groceries and drinks for them, even though it was the middle of the night. Both the lady and the neighbor were sent huge bouquets from the florist. WDW helped her coordinate getting relatives there to help her. And (this still gives me the chills) a bagpiper walked through her loop the next day playing "Amazing Grace" in memory of her DH.
This would be a terrible thing to have happen to anybody, but really goes to show what a class act WDW is. I felt terrible for her, but at least she was somewhere where people care.
