Your worst moment at a Disney park?

At the risk of sounding like a whiner, we've had some real winners! Many little things always go wrong it seems, but these were some bigger ones. First is actually kind of funny.....lol

Let's see....puking (me!) coming off of Thunder Mountain.:rotfl2: My mother thought it was hysterical!
15th anniversary, room gets broken in to at CBR.:sad2:
25th anniversary trip, phone call telling me fav cousin has been diagnosed with cancer.:sad1:
27th trip, drunk guest in 'Ohana's telling me vocally and with very distinct sign language to ummm......wow it's the Disboards so how do I say it.....(Mods delete if necessary!).....telling me to F off and doing the Italian hand gesture for it in the middle of the restaurant. My crime? I asked him to sit down after he came and stood in front of the window to see the fireworks at the last minute, blocking everyone's view. Simply asked him to sit or squat down.

Regardless, no one got really hurt in any of our experiences and we were at Disney. You say a prayer of gratitude you can be there at all and move forward!

That's terrible! What did you do about it?

My worst moment was on a Disney bus. Our DD uses a wheelchair full time. We LOVE Disney because she can go on alot of rides in her chair and the bus can take her in her chair. It makes a great trip for us!:thumbsup2

Anyway, we are never in a hurry. We are on vacation!:) We were leaving the MK after the fireworks. It was busy. We went to the line and waited for a bus to go to CBR. We waited in the HC line as marked. When the bus pulled up a lady in the line became VERY vocal. She started going on about wheelchairs. The bus driver waved us down and we went. Anyway we loaded as did the vocal lady. Well she never let up she went on and on and on about wheelchairs! When her stop at CBR came she got off and walked by my DD and said "bye wheelchair!" I was floored and it broke my heart. I looked at my DD and smiled and told her "We love you!" My DD was 16 at the time so she took in every word the lady said.:sad1: I wanted to tell the lady off but decided to be the better person. I also wanted to tell her my DD has a proper name!
ok rants over.

You are a much better person than I.. I would have went off on her but I know that you handled it the right way and your DD will always remember and respect you for that. :grouphug:

I feel so much better after reading these.. I thought we were the only family who argued in the parks..LOL

I think its part heat, part exhaustion and part hunger that cause us to act like that. I told my teens the other day I want a drama free trip this yr..LOL

Last November, I took my daughters (then 21 months and almost 5) to WDW alone. Early in the week, I got a cold and completely lost my voice. Nevertheless, I (stupidly) took the girls to see the Osborne lights. As the narration began and the snow started, I turned around to take the little one out of the stroller. I turned back and the older kid had disappeared.

What a nightmare. I was frantic, SCREAMING her name, but no sound was coming out. Nobody around us even seemed to notice there was a problem. I finally found her in the crowd across the street; she had gone chasing after the "snowflakes," and hadn't realized how far she'd strayed from me.

My worst moment happened when my niece was 3 (she turns 10 on Monday) and we were at Epcot with the entire family. All the adults went off to ride Test Track and I was left with my nieces and nephews and my dad. All of a sudden my niece started freaking out that she had to go to the bathroom. So off I went to find the nearest bathroom. Well, when we got into the stall I found that she REALLY had to go! She had an accident... and I don't mean #1. LOL Here I was, single woman not used to changing diapers or things like that, what do I do now? I cleaned her up and threw out her panties. LOL When I got back to the family my sister knew by the look on my face that something was up, I explained the situation and that her daughter was now commando. She laughed and said, "But those were her favorite My Little Pony panties!" I told her she could go dig them back out of the garbage if she wished. LOL I now live with my sister and deal with poopy diapers all the time, what a difference a few years makes! :rotfl:

Last year, during our annual Feb trip to the World, we went to MK on our first day as usual. I am a 5 yr breast cancer survivor and, due to complications from chemotherapy, I have a heart condition. So I have a permanent handicap parking permit. Unfortunately, my 'condition' is not something you can physically see, but I get winded easily when I have to walk long distances and I find I need to sit down often.
So we parked, got everything out of the car and were headed away from our car, when this really RUDE woman walks by and say loudly, "You don't look like you need to be parking there! Why take up a space when someone else might really need it?" SERIOUSLY!?!?
I was flabbergasted and saddened. I didn't want to lose my composure in front of my kids (ages 7 and 6). All I said to her back as she was walking away was "You have no idea what I've been through. Looks aren't always what they seem to be." She ignored me and kept walking. Believe me, I could've been much more rude back to her. But I've learned alot these last 5 yrs and I was just happy that I could be there with my family. Some people really need to get a clue!

I know the worst moment I ever had was waking up our very first day in the parks with an infected tooth. It took forever to call back home to my doctor and have him call for a perscription for me at one of the pharmacies close by. What a mess that day and I felt awful for holding the rest of the family up from a great day in the park. After I finally recieved what I needed, we were off to the park.

Thanks! It was VERY difficult for us not to say anything in return! Our 9 yr. old at the time kept looking at the lady on the bus. When we got off he asked why she was saying that? I had to explain not everyone understands or gives respect to others. It was a lesson for everyone! We did not let her or her words ruin our trip!:)

I agree the heat and excitment can get to anyone.I often see people having drama. Kids crying having melt downs.

My older DD was 21 at the time. We were walking in Epcot and she looked at her arm. She said "ewww someone's ice cream dripped on me!" Her cousin said "no its bird poop!" :rotfl: It was soooo funny!!!!:rotfl:

A few years ago my husband and I went to AK. It was hot and it was a couple hours after breakfast. The crowds were low and we were able to ride Primeival Whirl, Dinosaur and Expedition Everest two times in a row.
Well, after the second ride of EE, I was taking my time browsing in the gift shop and my husband says "We need to go!" He didn't look good and I was starting to panic like he was having a heart attack or something. We get just outside the gift shop and he threw up-violently in the bushes in front of a ton of people. Everyone was making faces and acting grossed out. I of course was freaked because my husband just doesn't throw up. I sat him down in the shade and ran to a cart to buy him a bottle of water. He felt better after a little while but I just couldn't stay at the park. I was a nervous wreck the rest of the day.
He kept insisting he was fine, he just rode too many rides in a row, but I felt really vulnerable and scared and I just kept him out of the heat and sun the rest of the day.
I still have not let him ride EE since that incident.

You are an awesome person for handling that situation the way you did. I'm afraid that lady would have learned some new colorful words and phrases from me!

My worst moment happened during a solo trip a few years ago...had to go back in the archives to copy/paste from my trip report, LOL!:

(This is from back in 2007, I highlighted my best/worst experiences, eateries, rides, etc):

Worst Experience: Fantasmic at MGM. Let me just say that I think it was mistake going to this the first night I was there, but I was trying to take advantage of the “Extra Magic Hours”. After a long day of (Delayed!) traveling the whole Fantasmic experience was terrible. Arriving at the Fantasmic theater 45min ahead of time for the 9pm show, I then wait in a 25 min line for a beer and a bottled water. Cool, they had Yuengling...ice cold, delicious. Mmmm. Start looking for a place to sit...but, I’m on my own without someone saving a seat and I’m told all there is is standing room only. So, I ask a CM if there is any room for 1 person to sneak in and she send me to Row F, in the middle. Not so bad, I think, except it’s surrounded by kids. But I figure, hey, all part of the experience, right...30 seconds later one the little brats knocks my beer over....onto my backback....and onto my cell phone. I glare at the kid but the parents aren’t anywhere to be found, or at least they’re not fessing up. There was no way I was getting up to get another, so I pulled out the water and sat back to try and enjoy the show...but the whole mood was ruined, so I chalked it up to a learning experience and told myself that the vacation truly begins tomorrow...

The backpack smelled of beer for the rest of the trip...I eventually replaced it with a slightly larger one...more room for more pins!

:thumbsup2Then I am sure that you will not mind when someone makes a statement regarding the behavior of your little angels. If someone is smoking in the smoking section then it is fine and legal . They are well their right to do so and being considerate by staying in the designated smoking area. I do not agree some of the things I see non smokers do but to I do not make them feel uncomfortable. That is not good manners at all.

Well said. :thumbsup2

WE HAD GOT THERE EARLY TO GET A GOOD SIT FOR THE AFTERNOON PARADE.SAT ON THE SIDEWALK WITH OUR GRANDBABY,AND BEGAN TO WAIT. A YOUNG FATHER OF 3 CAME UP RIGHT NEXT TO US. AND I MEAN CLOSE NEXT TO US, I FELT LIKE WE WERE IN HIS WAY.HIS STROLLER RAN OVER MY FINGERS,WERE HE SAID I NEEDED TO KEEP MY HANDS AWAY FROM HIS KID'S, I OF CORSE SAID IM SORRY FOR MY HAND GETTING UNDER YOUR STOLLER WHEEL, HE SAID THAT;S OK... CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT, NOW IT STARTS TO RAIN HE STARTS RUNNING AND THEN SLIDEING AROUND ALMOST FALL;S I SAY BECAREFUL YOU CAN FALL AND HIT YOUR HEAD, OH WELL THEN HE START YELLING SAYING I JUST WISHED IT ON HIM..THEN THANK GOD SOMEONE ELSE BUMPED, BY ACCIDENT HIS STROLLER..AND WITH THAT HE TURNED ON SOME OTHER POOR SOUL, WE MOVED QUICK.. ONLY TO RUN INTO HIM THE VERY NEXT DAY AT AK. WERE WE AGAIN MADE A RUN FOR IT.THAT;S BEEN 2003 AND I REMEMBER IT LIKE IT JUST HAPPEN:scared1:

Probably the worse moment was during our July 2005 trip. It started with DD4 getting sick in the elevator on the way down to the bowling pin pool at Pop. We weren't sure if it was a stomach virus, or maybe just something she ate. She didn't get sick again, but we stayed at the hotel the rest of the day. The next day, our last full day, everything was fine and we went to the parks as planned. On our departure morning, DD8 said her stomach hurt and my stomach was feeling a little funny. While I'm taking my shower I got the urge that I was going to be sick. So, I stepped out of the shower and bent down over the toilet - and threw my back out! :scared:OMG - I have had a bad back for years, but NEVER had I experienced that much pain in my entire life. I screamed and I couldn't move! So DH comes into the bathroom and puts a towel around me and helps me to the bed to lay down - all the while I'm still feeling sick to my stomach. DH gave DS12 a bunch of money and he took the 3 DDs to the game room while DH packed up 2 rooms of stuff all by himself while I just laid on the bed unable to move. By this time, the maids were knocking on the door, and DH kept telling them "just a little longer" - they were really nice about it. So, at one point, the kids were at the game room, DH had taken a bunch of stuff out to the car, and I'm just laying there in a towel on top of the bed unable to move. So, I'm thinking - what if the maids come back? :worried: So, I think it might be good for me to attempt to put some clothes on, so I try to get up - I put one leg over the side of the bed and then I was paralyzed with pain. I didn't even have enough strength to pull my leg back up on the bed. So, now I'm laying there in just a towel with one leg hanging off the bed, unable to move - worried that someone was going to walk in on me! :scared1: Luckily, nobody did! Somehow, DH managed to help me get dressed and got me and the kids and all the luggage packed up and we finally checked out of the room about 2 hours late. :rolleyes1 The 20 hour ride home was horrible - I was still feeling sick and the pain in my back ranged from mild to excruciating - depending on how much I moved. Then, somewhere in N Carolina around 10:00pm, DD8 got sick in the back of the car - luckily it didn't get all over the car, mainly just her blanket. DH pulled off the highway and I helped him clean her up and he just took her blanket and threw it in a trash can - we still joke about her blanket being somewhere in N. Carolina! But the funny thing is, when we look at pictures from that trip, you can't even tell all that stuff happened - we still remember it as a great trip!:)

I had started marking our WDW trips by what illness my DH got....

2006 - pneumonia year
2007 - eye infection year
2008 - cold year (at least mild but yet unpleasant)

and

2009 - the piece de resistance, food poisoning year. DH says that the walk across the WL lobby from the elevator to out front to get our car to go to the ER was the LONGEST WALK EVER (poor guy). It was ON my birthday, the WDW promotion was you got free admission or merchandise card or day long fastpass but you had to show up ON your birthday. After 5-6 hours in the ER, and with encouragement from DH, I left him at the ER and went to MK to get my merchandise card. Right after that, DH was being discharged so I went back to the hospital to pick him up. He spent the rest of the afternoon sleeping in the hotel while I went back to MK to spend a few hours. And actually, that evening, we made it to my birthday dinner at Fulton's Crab House.

He rebounded like a trouper and was back in the parks the next day riding all of the rides. We were making many more bathroom stops than usual but, to all appearances, he was pretty much back to normal a short 24 hours later. That'll teach him to order his hamburger too rare.

I declared 2011 the "Birthday Do-Over" year (even though we weren't at WDW on my birthday) and we managed to stay illness free!!!

I just don't get it. This guy NEVER gets sick EVER. And he got sick on each of our WDW trips 4 years in a row.

My worst moment was Nov 2009 in Epcot. We were walking around World Showcase. DD (1 yrs old) had a cough. All of a sudden she starts puking everywhere. All over her, the stroller, me EVERYWHERE. A guy came out of nowhere and gave us napkins and wipes and was looking her over. He was a doctor and told us not to worry to let her get it all out and she will be ok. I think he could tell he were first time parents but just him being so nice made it better. DD was fine after that. We went to the room bathed, changed, let her take a nap and she woke up fine.

In DLR Paris, 2009 DS picked up some virus that necessitated us calling for a doctor, paying a fortune to find out if his symptoms didnt ease that we would have to stay in quarantine in the hotel room for the duration of our stay. He was covered in a rash and so lethargic with occasional vomiting. Luckily we did still get to enjoy the holiday with some changes to allow for his lack of energy. We made it to Cafe Mickey for dinner but he ended up vomiting all over his brand new $$$ Stitch hoodie, he also fell asleep in his dinner on our last day.

In WDW last year, I was terrible for getting lost coming out of our room in POFQ, I always seemed to come down a different stairs and end up in a different part of the garden. Well once towards the end of our stay DS ran down ahead of me and totally disappeared. I had visions of him making it onto a bus without me and landing who knows where. It took 10-15 minutes to find him. He has always been a runner but that is the most worried I have ever been!

There was also July 2010. My daughter decided to pee through her diaper while she was sitting in my lap. We were on our way to dinner at Whispering Canyon so I couldnt go back to the room. I ended up going to the gift shop and had to buy another shirt and sucked it up when it came to the pants.

Last summer we were at MK when a torrential downpour hit. It was raining so hard that Main Street was completely flooded and they were closing all the rides. Well my DH and my 2DS and I thought nothing of this. It was kind of fun running through the rain and we were completely soaked! But I had just drunk a huge bottle of diet coke.

We decided to run for the busses (we were at OKW). As we passed the bathrooms I thought to myself, I should go...but I did not!

The line for the busses was huge and the busses weren't coming becasue the road by the Contemporary was flooded. So it took forever to get a bus and then once we were on it took forever to leave. At this point I had to go to the bathroom really badly!!! But when the bus started moving I thought..ok..I'll be ok...

Until we hit the road in front of the Contemporary and traffic was at a dead stop due to the flood. I was almost in tears I had to go that badly! So DH made the bus driver let us off on the road - we ran across traffic so I could use the Contemporary bathroom and I still practically peed my pants! My oldest DS thought I was having a baby! (don't ask me why..maybe because I was doubled over in pain from having to go so badly!)

Lesson here - always use the bathroom before you head for the bus!
Jenny:)

A duck flew into the back of your head and folks around you were blaming (and yelling at) you for it? That's one of the most unreasonable things I have heard.

Yup. We were at an animal park people yell duck I'm thinking where are the animals? Not duck as in get down something is flying at you.. Yup apparently it was all my fault.
