Your ULTIMATE SURVIVAL GUIDE to Disney World at Christmas Time! UPDATE x2 10/21

Oh castle, you are so dang attractive!
What a great end to the trip:goodvibes
So awesome you got to meet up with Lia again- one last ride on Space Mountain is ALWAYS a good thing!
I really wish there was 12 days between all Disney trips.sigh.

Yummy food! Wow! You're taking amazing pictures!! :thumbsup2 That's great you had time for one last ride on Space AND a Dis-Meet! What's great about this ending is that it's NOT THE END!!!!! :cool1: I can't wait to hear about your next trip. I would love to know I only had 12 days till more Disney! ;)

Thank you! And yes it was! I am so excited to write about the next portion of this - it's going to be great!

What a wonderful lunch at CRT!!!! I totally can't wait to eat there in October.

I'm glad you got to see Lia again before you left. Sorry to see this trip end, but you always have another one on the horizon.

That is so smart to buy a Disney meal to take to the airport instead of eating airport food. I'll have to put that on my to-do list.

Thank you! And ahh you're gonna love it!

Me too, it was so fun! And yes, the next portion of the trip report is going to be even better than this first one, so stay tuned!

I know, right!? It tastes SO much better!

It really is!
Thank you!
And yes, that was wonderful! Gotta squeeze in one last thing, right?
I know, right? That would make life a lot better

It took me awhile, but I'm all caught up!

- I'm glad you found a major you like. Even it's hard, it's definitely better than being stuck with something you hate. My sister (she's a year older than you) is a theater major, and even though she's insanely busy all the time, she loves it!

- I loooooove the little old lady in the front row of the first ToT picture! Props to her!

- I'm glad that RnRC didn't hurt your mom's back! I developed lower back problems last fall, and when I went to DHS in December, I skipped RnRC because I was afraid it would aggravate my back, but it KILLED me to not go on it because it's my favorite rollercoaster in the world. I'll definitely have to do it again on my next trip!

- That's so exciting that you're going back in May! One of my favorite things about WDW is going with a newbie and watching their facial expressions as they go in MK for the first time. :)

- That is the most awkward looking Belle ever! She looks like a princess from SNL or something when they make fun of the princesses.

Okay, I got caught up and just had to say that you are totally right. That Belle looks a little long in the tooth....just a little off-putting. :rotfl:

What a great lunch you guys had though. I only ever eat breakfast at CRT, but I have to put lunch/dinner on my list for sure.

Awesome that you were able to meet up with Lia again and get one last ride in before leaving.

Boo snow. Doesn't it suck that it always happens when you come back from a trip?

I am making that a goal for the future! To visit Disney and then only have a very short time span before a second dose of Disney. That does sound like a way to make the whole time extra magical. My husband may not agree with my reasoning though.

Wahhh it's the end of the trip! :( Oh well, at least I know you'd be back in 12 days and this TR is far from over! Yippeee!

I love how much stuff you managed to cram into your last few minutes at MK! YAY for meeting up with Lia again! That's a very cute picture! :goodvibes

You mom is absolutely brilliant for getting you Disney pizza to take home! It looks delicious!

I can't wait for the next part of this report! :thumbsup2

Yay! I'm glad!

Oh my gosh, yeah. Being a theatre major is so much work but it's SO much fun. I'm actually at the dress rehearsal for our musical right now (Little Women) and I'm on wardrobe crew! This was absolutely the best decision I have ever made. I'm so glad I came here!

I hope that RnR won't hurt your back! I mean, my Mom was fine so you should be okay! Just make sure to hold yourself in! It's a smooth coaster!

I know I can't wait!! 25 DAYS!!! And oh yes, taking new people to Disney is my absolute FAVORITE thing to do in the world!

LOL I completely agree :p

Yay I'm glad you're back! Haha yeah, I definitely think so too :p

It was SO good! You know, I REALLY wanted to do breakfast because it's so delicious with the puffed french toast :lovestruc But the lunch was so great too! I'm sure you would love it!

Yes that was awesome!! I loved meeting Lia!

Oh I know! And the thing is that it barely snowed the rest of the winter!

It's such a great experience! You should try and do that! Hahaha your husband would love it, he would be crazy not to.

I know! But yes, we have about 12 or 13 more days of Disney coming your way! Woohoo!

I know - it was insane! And YAY for Lia! I loved meeting her! Thank you!

Haha it was such a great idea! We thought of that during the first frump trip and we have tried to do it ever since!

Yay I can't wait to write it!

That's great that you were able to meet up with Lia again! So fun you were able to ride SM with her! :) I loved your matching shirts too! Mickey and Minnie...how perfect!

Wow! I totally understand how your mom was feeling about the time and getting to the airport. My Dad likes to get there early with plenty of time. I guess I'm like that too. I would have been a bit anxious like your mom! We usually never go to the parks on our last day though; we always have an earlier flight.

Yay for Disney pizza! Go Mom! :) What a great idea she had. Love it!

Sad to be home, but how awesome is it knowing you'll be back so soon?! I have never had back-to-back trips before. Can't wait to hear about your next trip! :)

OMG I have been SO busy lately! But yay, now I have three fabulous updates to catch up on!

Lotso is totally a jerk and I don't get why he's so heavily featured in the parks! But you look adorable in the green alien hat!

You are like a Disney ninja getting a CRT reservation last minute like that. Did you have to try a million times or did you just have some extra magic pixie dust sprinkled on you that day?

O M G that "This area is being refurbished for your future enjoyment" shirt is KILLING me. I NEED it.

You are a pin trading machine! haha for some reason I feel like I'm gonna be really into that (and Vinylmations) next trip? Just in the mood I guess!

AHHH CRT looks even more amazing than I imagined. The pics of you and your mom are just so precious! I love how even drinking water was made more special and princessish.

AWW! I didn't know you were already in line and about to get on Space when I texted you! You are so sweet to get off the line and wait for me. That was SO much fun! I'm so happy we got to squeeze one more Dismeet in there. I love being spontaneous at Disney! I can't wait until the next time we are there at the same time...whenever that may be! :goodvibes

I'm all caught up now! Sounds like you had a great last few hours at Disney. So so so jealous of your lunch at CRT!! Dream restaurant right there. I mean really what could be better than eating in a castle?!
And yay for a last minute Dis meet before you left!
How ironic that you came home to the snow too. Definitely a rude wake up call to return to after all the gorgeous Florida sunshine!
I almost forgot this was only part 1 of the TR! lol Can't wait to read the next installment!:)

Yeah it was a really stressful experience, but having that last little bit of time was so worth it. And once we got to the gate with plenty of time she got all better!

YUM PIZZA!

Yes, I was so happy!! That was the best. I can't wait to tell about it!

Oh I know, right?! Lotso is so mean. He doesn't deserve to be in the spotlight!!

LOL oh thank you. It's a talent  just kidding. But no I just was making my reservations one night and I checked every day of my trip... and that was the only time slot that was open! So I snatched it right up!

That is definitely a fantastic shirt!

If you thought I was into pin trading on this trip, just wait until next trip!! I was SOOO into it! And I ordered another lot of 50 for my next upcoming trip so I can do it again!! And I also ordered a vinylmation... so I'll let you know how I like those! I bet you'll do those next time too... and I'm sure it'll be tons of fun!

That restaurant is just PERFECT. Like... it's just an amazing experience all around. :lovestruc

Haha yeah I don't think I even told you because we were so pressed for time! But aww no problem! It was totally worth it because I got to see you again and I didn't have to ride alone! :goodvibes I'm so glad we got to squeeze it in, too! And same here... I hope it's soon!

Hooray! I'm so glad!
Yes, we squeezed in a ton and it was a lot of fun! Thank you! You'll definitely have to get there someday.. it's such a great restaurant! There really is nothing better :thumbsup2
That was awesome that we worked that out!
Haha I know, right!? Especially because it was one of the only snowfalls of this entire winter!
Oh yes, there is PLENTY more coming up!! I can't wait to continue it!

:sad2: another end to an awesome trip! But going back in less than 30 days isn't shabby!:lmao:

I think the inside of the Castle is beautiful too, I wish I could just take picture after picture!

I think you took some amazing photos and the editing was great!

Chapter 32: A Brief Christmas/New Years Trip Introduction!
December 21st, 2011 - January 2nd, 2012

Alright everyone, so the first portion of this trip report is COMPLETE!

**Applause, Applause**

Overall, I would like to say that I had an absolutely wonderful time with my Mom on our spontaneous jaunt to the World. We had a lot of laughs, made tons of memories, and ate so much great food! Spending my Mom's 50th birthday in Disney and going through the actual Disney audition experience was absolutely wonderful! I will always remember that trip and look back on it fondly.

But now it's time to continue moving forward! We have a whole other trip to relive, here! And if you thought this last one was good... just wait until you read about the next one! It was honestly probably my favorite vacation to Disney of all time! (besides the frump trips... but they're in their own separate category) There was something about this trip that was ridiculously magical, and I get filled with so much joy whenever I think about it. I can't wait to tell you everything!!

There are a few differences between the past trip and this new trip so I wanted to just point them out very fast.

First off, there is an addition to our cast list!

Here's the whole family picture:

dsc01953z.jpg

Of course My Mom and I went on this trip. We are the two crazy Disney fanatics in the family who planned this whole thing!

The other two members of our family are my Dad and my brother Jonathan! You may remember them from my February Trip Report.

My Dad is a really great guy and he's very big on the whole "relaxing" thing. Because of him, I tend to chill out a lot more on my family vacations. However, he's a good sport about going places in Disney when it's necessary! We had a lot of fun times together on this trip, especially when we went to get some early morning Toy Story Fastpasses!

My brother, Jonathan, is usually described as a very "chill" person. He's not huge on touring the Disney parks because he doesn't do thrill rides at all. He would much rather spend his day in the hotel room. However, he does enjoy Disney for the food, so I guess I can live with that. You will also noticed that he and my Dad also love spending time at the ESPN Zone at the Boardwalk. They just love their sports!

As you can tell, my Dad and my brother take a much more relaxed approach to the whole Disney vacation thing. They go off and do their own thing a lot of the time, so that leaves my Mom and me time to do basically whatever we want! It actually worked out quite nicely because we got to accomplish a lot but we still got that family time in when the boys were up for it!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next I am going to give you the back story on how the trip was put together:

We booked this vacation 11 months out with DVC. (since we were staying at our home resort!)

We were originally only going to go from December 24th-January 2nd, but we decided to extend our stay. There was literally no reason not to!

Okay, I'm gonna be honest, the main reason I wanted to add on those extra days was mostly because of THE BREAD from Kona. I didn't have enough room for a dinner reservation there in my original plan and I NEEDED THAT BREAD. Food. Controls. My Life.

We wanted to keep the resort cost low for the extra days, so we used the Interval timeshare to book.........

an off property resort.

Okay, okay. I know what you're saying.

"OH NO, NOT AGAIN!!!!"

We actually booked this before we booked our other early December trip. So this whole "off property" thing was in the original plan for this Christmas trip, and it's what gave us that delightful idea for our other quick early December trip. Ha. Ha.

So now you're wondering... will it work out this time?

You will have to keep reading to see what happens! ;)

So the hotels were booked, the reservations were made, and BAM! A Disney vacation was planned. HOORAY!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another addition to this trip report is TWITTER!

I tweeted live from Disney throughout this whole vacation, and I am going to incorporate the tweets into my trip report updates! (Thank you Lia/__disneygirl for that wonderful idea!) Whenever you see a tweet, it will be bolded and italicized - just like this.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And I think that's about it! THIS TRIP WAS FREAKING AWESOME. Words cannot describe how excited I am to tell you about everything. Literally, this was the most jam packed and wham filled trip of my LIFE! I hope you're ready! We have a lot of different experiences, many new restaurants, tons of holiday pictures, and SO MUCH MORE coming your way! YAY!

Chapter 33: THE INTERLUDE
December 10th-20th, 2011

So as you know, we had a little bit of time between the trips! We were only home from December 10th-20th and then we left on the 21st.

A lot happened during those days, especially since it was the Christmas season. I thought I'd do a short recap of my few days in between Disney trips before we jump into the next section of the trip report!

So here we go!

We arrived home on December 9th and only had 12 days until we returned!

December 11th, 2011

Two days after I got home from Disney I went to my new college to shadow! I stayed with my friend Kelsey from high school who is currently a sophomore in the same Theatre Performance program that I was joining! So she told me all about it! She introduced me to a lot of people and everyone was getting ready for auditions for the spring semester!

I honestly felt more at home there within the first few hours than I felt at my old school for the first three months. The atmosphere was just so much better! And now looking back on it, I definitely can see why I felt so welcome. This school is perfect for me!

I had to audition while I was there since I would be joining them next semester! My audition was at 9:45 pm which was the last slot of the day! I sang "If Only" from The Little Mermaid broadway show and I performed a monologue from "Seating and Other Arrangements."

I felt that my audition went pretty well so I hoped they liked me! I didn't get cast for the upcoming semester but I wasn't expecting to. They hadn't worked with me yet and didn't know who I was. So it gives me even more incentive to work hard for the upcoming fall auditions!

December 12th, 2011

I went with one of the freshman girls, named Josie, to two of the Freshman classes. (I actually am good friends with Josie now!) They had Acting (where they were performing their scenes) and Intro to Theatre. (where they were presenting their projects) I met a good amount of the freshman class and it was really fun to sit in on theatre classes!

That night we had dance auditions. Those made me a little depressed because it was so hard for me to keep up with the dance they taught us. I took dance when I was little but then I quit, and it's my BIGGEST regret ever. We get to take dance every semester now though so hopefully I will get better!

December 13th-15, 2011

I came back home and did a lot of miscellaneous preparations for the holidays!

During the Christmas season I basically go to Walgreens every day because I love looking at all of the stuff. They have SO MANY holiday themed Disney items. It makes my life.

img0546cx.jpg

Lion King Snow Globe!

img0550n.jpg

This Princess Can was filled with the ingredients to make hot chocolate!

img0552da.jpg

The Charlie Brown Christmas tree! (I want this.)

img0608zu.jpg

JINGLE COOKIES! ♥

img0551xx.jpg

I bought these Disney Christmas cards and I sent them to all of my friends for the holidays. They were so adorable!

img0511of.jpg

During any holiday season I always buy the Pillsbury holiday sugar cookies. I have an obsession with them. THEY ARE SO DELICIOUS! These ones were Christmas trees and they were perfect:

img0510ij.jpg

Every year for Christmas my Aunt Marsha and Uncle Jimmy give me Disney movies for my Christmas present! Thanks to them I have a pretty great collection! They live in Virginia and since I wasn't going to be at my Grandma's on Christmas this year, they sent me my present in the mail! This year they got me The Emporer's New Groove, Up, The Lion King, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and the new Winnie the Pooh Movie!

img0582ju.jpg

December 16th, 2011

On this day we went over to my Nana's house and had our family Christmas party! The grandkids (there are six of us) made a gingerbread house all together! We combined two kits to make a gingerbread mansion! It was awesome - we had a gazebo, a pond, a pathway, etc. It was quite extravagent, I have to say.

img0578al.jpg

img0574vi.jpg

img0573o.jpg

While we worked on that, my Mom, my Aunt, and my Nana made cookies. YUM!

img0571pek.jpg

I helped my Nana decorate her tree a few days before so I took lots of pictures of it!

img0553i.jpg

She has a set of beautiful Snow White ornaments because Snow White and the Seven Dwarves is my Nana's FAVORITE movie of all time. They're so pretty!

img0554ge.jpg

img0555fh.jpg

img0557z.jpg

And the manger was all set up too!

img0564c.jpg

We opened our Christmas presents and all of the girls got Vera Bradley duffle bags! (thanks to a wonderful sale that I found on cyber monday!)

img0543ig.jpg

img0544ia.jpg

My cousin Justine and my favorite part of our family parties is THE ICE CREAM CAKE! We always attack it. They're just sooo gooood. And this one was a cute little snow man. SUCH GOOD FROSTING OMG.

img0545tq.jpg

After that party I went to pick up Kristen and she came to sleep over. We went out to dinner with my Mom and then we watched the Muppet Christmas Carol!

December 17th, 2011

Kristen and I relaxed all day and then eventually got up to get ready for an Ugly Sweater Party at our friend Ellen's house!

dsc0093la.jpg

Real cute, right? Our sweaters were UGLY. Just kidding I actually thought they were precious. Mine was from my Nana. And I'm wearing my Santa Mickey Hat! YAY!

dsc0094oy.jpg

Ellen gave me my Christmas present which was a Jasmine Barbie Doll! AHHH! And not only that, but she cut out my face and put it on the picture of Jasmine! On the back of the box, all of the princesses were on there and she cut out all of our friends' faces and put them on each princess. IT WAS AWESOME! Ellen is one of the coolest people I have ever met.

img0600un.jpg

She had GREAT food at this party. Cupcakes in a Cone are the staple food of any Ellen Party, and this time they were shaped like DEER! IT WAS PERFECT!

img0602vv.jpg

Ellen also had a DEER RING! I had to take a picture.

img0601ef.jpg

The party was great! I got to see a ton of high school friends and catch up! We all sang Christmas songs and enjoyed spending time together. It was wonderful!
