I need some new ideas.....sick of the same ole stuff.....

what to you make - keep in mind - needs to trael well and keep in a cooler.

thanks!

Whatcha lookin' for? Last time I was at a tailgate party was in 1995 -- red beans and rice were the norm (Ole Miss).

I think the foodnetwork site has a bunch of tail gate recipes.

Up in Wisconsin - where tailgating IS a major pre-game event - we've seen everything from the usual hot dogs/hamburgers and brats all the way up to turf 'n surf, complete with linen tablecloths and candelabras. And, pretty much everything in between.

This might qualify as "same old, same old" but it's really good! If you don't like cottage cheese, don't be afraid. You don't even know it's in there.

Layered Taco Dip

2 8-ounce pkgs cream cheese, softened
1 16-ounce container small-curd cottage cheese
1 16-ounce pkg taco seasoning
1 tsp lemon juice
1 2-ounce can diced black olives, drained
1 tomato, chopped (gross... i leave them out... but I suppose if you like 'em, you should add 'em)
2 cups shredded lettuce
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (I use Mexican blend)

In medium bowl combine cream cheese, cottage cheese, taco seasoning, and lemon juice. In a glass bowl or on a serving platter layer cheese mixture, olives, slimy red things (tomatoes... gag), lettuce, and cheese.

We just pick up subs and take them with us. We're lazy and no one wants to do any cooking before the game, or once we get there. Subs work out good cause everyone gets what they want and everyone is happy.

That and some beer, water and pepsi is all that goes with us.

Sorry I lied, we have to also have pretzle rods and chips too.

Grilled Porterhouses, Shrimp, a pre-made salad and some beers always works for our pre-game.

I know this isn't technically a food...it's a drink. Take a pitcher of apple cider and add Goldschlagger (sp?) to taste. It's great, tastes like a cinnamon apple. Unfortunately I won't be enjoying this fall beverage during football season :) But we've brought it to tailgates before and it was a big hit.

thanks!

I think we'll e taking a hiachi grill - we usually go to a restautant and spend tons o money - ut this year I want to hang at the car and use all our tailgate stu

I was thinking shrimp on skewers - dip - hot dogs - urgers -cole slaw cuke salad

I usually bring a huge batch of chicken wings, that I've cooked prior to leaving..then all I have to do is reheat on the grill when I get to the stadium. I also bring hot dogs, brats, burgers, pasta salad and chips.

Now I need to go the the grocery store, as I need to pick up all this stuff to bring to the Jimmy Buffett concert I'm going to this week! :thumbsup2

Gotta pick up tequilla, limes, and corona too!!!!

How about making stromboli? I use the pillsbury pizza dough, roll it out a bit, and add whatever ingredients down the middle (some are ham, salami, cheese...meatball, a little sauce and cheese...sausage, pepper, onions...pepperoni and cheese), roll and pinch the seams closes, make a few slices on top and bake on a greased sheet until golden (about 20 min). Let cool, wrap good in foil, then heat on the grill, slice and serve. Or you can ever eat room temp.

We do barbecue or chili in a crockpot or brats on the grill. We also take layered Mexican dip, snack mix, brownies and/or cookies, etc.

Oh yeah, and BEER:thumbsup2

When we have gone to a Buffett concert we bring steak tips, chicken, shrimp and of course the Margaritaville mixer. Also some wine coolers for me.

HAVE FUN!! I will be there with you in spirte(?sp)!

any other ideas? Going shopping tomorrow and Saturday will be a looooong day! 8pm game!

Here is my favorite tailgating dip--it'e been with me to dozens of LSU games and now that we just watch on TV from Houston, we eat it in the living room. Eat it with tortilla chips or with raw veggies:

1 pack cream cheese (can use light without noticing a difference, but the fat-free isn't quite as good)
1 jar Pace Picante Sauce (mild, medium or hot--your choice)

Blend in food processor. Serve cold.

We have the usual stuff at our tailgates......but here is something that has become popular as a snack......

We call them "Crack Crackers"....

1 box saltine crackers
1 cup vegetable or Canola oil
2 tablespoons of crushed red pepper (more if you like it hot)
1 package of dry ranch dressing

Combine all ingredients in a turkey bag. Mix/shake bag every 10-15 minutes for one hour.
