Your reliable washer and dryer? 5+ years old

In May 1988, I bought a Maytag washer and dryer set. The washer died about 4 years ago, and I replaced it with a Bosch which I'm very happy with. At the time, I debated if I also wanted to replace the dryer to have a matching set, but being cheap I didn't. The dryer is still going strong.

I have a Kenmore set and they are 10 yrs old and working perfectly. I really like Kenmore appliances, I think they are well built and very tough. I believe they are made by Whirlpool.
Mine was a middle of the road set 10 years ago, so no digital anything, just basic turn dials. I'm not sure if they sell those anymore, but I'd reccomend checking out Sears.

13+ years with a set of basic Whirlpools. Top loading, only two load sizes...small or large. No bells or whistles and no repairs ever. They have moved with us from GA to TX to SC to FL. I think with more of the technology and more settings and gadgets there is just more stuff to break.

DH has been nagging at me for a few years to replace them but I don't want to. They are not pretty but they clean our clothing and dry it.

Kenmore XL capacity washer and dryer-purchased as a wedding gift in 1989 so 22 years+ and still working fine! I think we'll buy Kenmore again when the need arises......

I have had a Maytag washer and Dryer for 9 years. Never been serviced. I do at least three loads a day. I used to work in the appliance industry and it has been my experience that if it going to break, you will see the initial signs early on, usually withen a month. If you want a durable no nonsense, stay away from any ones with an electronic board. Stick with the ones with dials. Frilly electronic models experience the most problems with leakage on the boards. When I bought the set, the washer was 400, the electric dryer was 340. Good Luck!
