Your opinions on Pop Century plez

DH wants to stay there in January, really because it wil be the newest on-site *resort* then.
On the Rumors and News Board, this resort is being flamed something awful.
Just wondering what everyone's feedback/impression here is on PC.

I'd be willing to give it a try. I actually had it booked for New Years, but then they postponed the opening.

i have not seen it in person but have looked at numerous photos of it. It really does look awful. There are large cut outs of images as well as words like "platforn shoes" and "wheres the beef"

I can't believe they are building this monstrosity.

I saw it from a distance.. It is hideous. It looks cheap and and you wonder what happened to the imagineers with this one!

I think the ASMo will still be the most popular, the Pop Century looks too ordinary.

Piglet203 and I have always said that we'd like to stay at every Disney Resort, but I have changed my mind since seeing what the Pop Century will look like. It's not even worth talking about, so I'll stop now.

The thing is, if you guys think the pictures are ugly in person the view is pathetic! You can see several buildings from the road as you drive around Disney property.

I just can't imagine staying there vs what you can get for the same price off-site!!!!
All Stars is okay. We enjoyed it in Oct for $49/night.....
I am not that thrilled with AS Sports, but I think they did good with the Movies. The large Disney characters etc. Cute especially for the little kids!!!!

BUT this is hideous!!! Those cut-out phases!! The Big Wheel and Bowling Pins might be okay....but.....geeeezzzzze the rest of it....

That is hideous, isn't it? How can people that came up with the understated elegance of the GF, Poly, POR & POFQ develop such a white elephant? LSD in the water?

So I take it this meansd it wins hands down the Ugliest WDW Resort award. I think TLC should do a special on it! And superstructures, including Epcot is just about on!
DH and I will have to make sure to check out this eyesore resort next month. See if we would be able to sleep there at night! Maybe the theming would be too loud!

Yeah, that's more like it...

One thing for sure, I do not anticipate this one filling too quickly so it may become the "overflow cheap resort" during busy times. Either that or people will bite the bullet and stay at a moderate instead.

About the same as my opinion of the All Stars. Only worse. With the amount of people they are going to be incredibly crowded, noisy, and understaffed.

ASMo was surprisingly quiet when we were there in January. The only noisy place was the food court in the morning.
The room was very quiet. But I purposely requested a third floor corner room. We also got the backside of the resort. I'm sure the court side would have been much noiser.
I really thought ASMo was a much quieter and nicer resort than I expected. I enjoyed my stay there. Especially for $55 a night.
The staff was much nicer at ASMo last January than the CSR staff at out January '01 visit. No contest there.
CSR was VERY quiet. That is one of the first things I noticed about that resort.

I just can't imagine that they will be able to fill up this resort
I am thinking this is going to end up the "budget" capital or WDW.
Every school group or sports group will be given "to good to pass up deals" in order to even have anyone there.
Sooooo.....after a couple of years of nothing but cheerleaders, soccer teams and school bands.......what will it look like then

Don't flame me for knocking school groups....
I know alot of them are VERY RESPONSIBLE. But it is just part of life that teenagers are the way they are.

Actually it is a shame that none of these teenagers will even know what most of the "icons" mean.

I think it looks kinda neat! I'll probably try it when it opens. I'm sure when they finish with the landscaping it'll look much better. I was a little concerned that you could see it from the highway, so I hope they do something to block the view of it.
