So who thinks JB & SW airfare may come down in price if Spirit pilots settle?

sorry, brain cramp, I can't remember how to post a poll.:sad2:

I'm not booked with Southwest until Christmas/New Years.

I have been monitoring the flights to ALL cities in Florida out of Atlantic City, Philadelphia and Newark for this time period. The prices have been extremely high right off the bat, the highest I've ever seen for holiday travel - JetBlue, AirTrain, all the major carriers. Yesterday, I found myself lucky enough to purchase $300 round-trip air from Philly to Fort Myers (my destination in Florida - not going to Disney). The prices of the other carriers, before the Spirit Air strike, were $400 and more, including Spirit.

When Southwest posted the tickets yesterday, I jumped at the offer of $300 for a non-stop, round-trip. I don't think if Spirit goes back to work that the Southwest fares will go down.

JetBlue is reporting virtually no increase in business as a result of the strike. Spirit passengers are either cancelling their trip or driving.

Other airlines are unlikely to lower their prices enough to go after the average Spirit passenger who's chasing very cheap fares. SW lets you check 2 bags for free, JetBlue 1. Spirit is planning to charge for bin bags. I don't see other major airlines doing the extensive "nickle and diming" that Spirit does and that's the only way to try and make money with the kinds of fares Spirit charges.

For the most part other airlines ignore Spirit.

It was a joke when Spirit announced charging for bin baggage and then saying that they reduced their fares to 'compensate" the extra charge. I've been monitoring airfare for my flights to Florida in August and again in December and Spirit did NOT drop fares at ALL after the announcement.
