Some of you may remember about a year and a half back, I ran a website that was devoted to finding the best hotel deals via Priceline/Hotwire/etc. for the Disney Orlando area.

What set the site apart from biddingfortravel / BetterBidding was a more personalized site, a larger scope, and better advice specific to the Orlando area. For instance, when we noticed a trend of a certain hotel coming up at a excellent price, and article was posted to make it easy for visitors to know of the good deal. Sometimes we found entertainment book was the way to go, and an article would be posted about that.

As an added bonus, we also planned/will be offering, customized vacation planning that NO other site of this type offers. For example, you are coming on your first trip to Orlando, want to be near Universal, have a rough budget of $40/nt for a hotel and don't know where to begin. You email us this basic info, and WITHIN 24 hours we come back with a custom plan for you to try, expected hotel(s) you may get, even airfare/park ticket/ dining discounts and suggestions if you like. I make over 12 overnight trips to Orlando (Disney/Universal/Concerts/etc.) with my girlfriend each year, and have stayed at nearly every Priceline hotel and visited nearly every Orlando attraction, so I do feel my advice can be very useful.

My question is, would a site like this be of use to any of you again??

Jim

no because I stay at timeshare -

www.skyauction.com
www.condodirect.com

some people now really like the rental houses in the kissimmee/orlando area.

however I would think your guide would be great for first time visitors.

most people who have found the dis - have been to WDW at least once.

Thanks for the input!

What you said is definatly something to consider. There is really no reason for anyone to pay rack rate for a standard hotel room in Orlando. With how many rooms there is, there is almost ALWAYS occupancy.

May be worth it to include the whole timeshare thing in as I see skyauction, especially, is getting popular. Perhaps a "Top 3" list of current timeshare options or something along those lines.

yes - they really can be a big help for larger families.

WDW is designed for 4. - Okay really 3....

for larger families staying offsite is a much better choice.

the timeshare industry in Orlando is HUGE.

DVC is the only on-site timeshare at WDW. and it is not cheap at all....

Jim,

I think I would be interested in this. My sister and I usually go to WDW in February for a girls only trip. This year we are taking two friends as well. We try to do it on a tight budget to see just how inexpensive a trip we can make it. It's almost like a challenge! So, what you are proposing sounds good to me.

I would like a service like this. I am planning a trip in August 2005 staying partly offsite and a couple of days on-site. Looking for a good, decent value. I want to do priceline (only I have used their system one time for a trip to Philadelphia - which worked out well). However, I am nervous in using them for Orlando because 1. I will be staying longer and 2. I will have children with me

OK. I've got some time over the weekend, so I'll try to get some of this set up.

We'll see how it goes from there. Check my "WWW" button below this post, and I'll update you when the site goes live!

The website is now available in a VERY basic form. Check it out and know that there is much more to come. Click the "WWW" below my post!
