The thread on What is the use of Valentine's Day's cards in school got me to reminiscing. My senior year they started a new tradition of buying carnations to be handed out - white for friendship, red for love and pink for like. My three best friends were very popular and I was just kind of in their shadow. I hung out with those voted "Most Popular", "Most Congenial" and "Best Dressed", I used to joke that I was "Most Invisible". I was sure they would get flowers and I wouldn't. Homeroom comes and in they come with the flowers and they didn't get any but I got a pink one with a card that said "You're Cute". I was flabbergasted. Turns out it was the boy who was the Class Valedictorian, about a foot shorter than me and I probably outweighed him by 50 lbs.! I didn't find out until much later who sent it. I don't remember if I ever said anything to him, I wasn't mean, just wasn't interested. We were on friendly terms. I have a 25th Class Reunion coming up. I have to make sure to tell him how special that flower made me feel.

A wonderful story! I don't remember anything special about our valentines like that. I don't think as kids we exchanged them much with each other after 6th grade except with a boy friend. I, of course always gave my parents and grandparents valentines as well.

princess:

Sounds like you had some interesting times in HS!

We only celebrated VD up until Elementary School (grade 5)

About the HS 25th Reunion, DO IT!
I never went to any reunion(s) and did go to my 25th last Fall, and I actually had a fantastic time. Everyone is now on the same level* we all have kids/married/divorced/college/not college/we are all grown up now and it's nice to see alot of them have as well!
It was a fantastic night and I now keep in touch with a couple people I hadn't seen in many years!

PSPS I did tell a guy who bugged me in the 7th grade, and he said, Sorry I don't remember, honestly!
Believe it or not, I waited so MANY years to tell him off and when he said Sorry, I don't remember, and proceeded to tell me about all the things he's gone through over the years, I finally could just let it go, irony, I felt sorry for him! I was able to tell him and that was enough for me!

Have alot of fun at the reunion you'll be glad you went
Enjoy!!

:bounce:

Mine is very easy to remember.:teeth:

Ten years ago on Valentine's Day DS9 was conceived. It was our first attempt at in-vitro fertilization. Truly a gift of love!!

This upcoming Valentine's day will probably be very memorable. Not only will i be doing second round for sorority recruitment but it is the first time that i have had a boyfriend for valentine's day. I am excited about this one :) We celebrate 1 month on wednesday.

My most memorable val's day turned out to be a not-so-great memory after it wound up being the last time that BF (of 1.5 yrs)and I were together. Nice how a person can ask you to marry him one day and then completely disappear within the month (long distance relationship). Ugh. :( Not a big fan of the day.

My most memorable Valentine's Day was my first with DH when we were dating. He would not tell me where he was taking me and it was quite a long drive. It was -17 degrees and very terrible weather. We ended up going about 50 miles out of Cleveland to "The Inn at Fowlers' Mill" for dinner. It is one of those places where dinner is a very intimate and slow event. We had turtle soup and chateaubriand (sp?) I was so impressed. It was a wonderful evening and we were able to watch the skiiers on the hills for night skiing.

We were so cold when we left our teeth were chattering and we laughed at each other. I was madly in love, still am.

I was pregnant with my 1st and DH sent a singing quartet to my work to serenade me!

When we were in high school..BF (now DH) brought me breakfast in bed, drove me to school, send me a dozen red roses, wrote me a love letter, and took me to chuck e cheese where we had the best time and I kicked his bootie on the Air hockey table!LOL!

Almost 6 years ago, when I held my 10lb 3oz valentine in my arms. Better than any chocolate and it's been a love affair that's guaranteed to last a life time and beyond.:lovestruc

Valentine's day 1990. My DH and I had been dating about 6 months and talked about marriage but weren't engaged yet. I invited him over to for dinner that night and the city got hit with a terrible snow storm. Even though he worked 3 blocks from home at the time he had someone drive him up to my office (normally a 45 minute drive) so that he could drive me home. It took us over 3 hours. Needless to say by the time we got there I wasn't about to send him out it in again so he spent the night.

We got engaged 2 weeks later and have been married for 13 years. He still goes out of his way to help when. I'm blessed to have found such a wonderful man.

Valentine's Day 1999 - I finally got engaged after 6 years together. I was very patient, lol.

I have a feeling my most memorable Valentine's Day will be this year - we'll be spending it in WDW!

I am so jealous. Last year DH told me..."I did'nt know you wanted to do anything" ....men :(

I have to say though this is one of the only areas he needs improvement.

Kallison, I'd have to say my most memorable Valentine's Day was last year! I won a day trip to WDW from a local TV station and the day they sent us just happened to be Valentine's Day! We had our picture taken in front of the castle and had lunch at Tony's:earsgirl: :earsboy:

DH proposed on Valentines Day 1998, we honeymooned in WDW 8 months later.

I wish I had some memorable ones. I love DH dearly, but romance is not his thing! Even if I say, please don't, I will get a dozen roses this year (as I have for every year). I love the gesture, but the flowers kick my allergies into overdrive!!! You would think after 11 years together, he would figure that out. LOL Did I mention that I love him dearly???
