Ok, time for us Disneyholics to fess up. Thought it might be fun!

How much and what item has been your most expensive or extravagant or outlandish purchase while at Walt Disney World? :earseek: (Excluding DVC, hotel room, park tickets, airline tickets, etc.) I mean a souvenir or other purchase you made while under that hypnotic Disney spell. :wizard:

And on the same subject - about how much total do you spend on souvenirs while on a WDW trip?

My DH thinks an expensive souvenir is the refillable mugs! I'm pretty cheap too though. I usually buy things like key chains, christmas ornaments, etc. I'm usually on a pretty tight budget so I don't even look at the expensive items (but some of those gorgeous snow globes sure seem sweet).

Anxious to hear your answers.

A Goebel Disney figure for $249.00.

I spend between $500-700 a trip. Love the shops in the world showcase, also love the Christmas Shops.

400 points at DVC! Bought in the first time we went.

At this last trip - in Oct for the Food & Wine festival - hubby surprised me with a 200 pt add on.

I won't even say how much these souvenirs cost!

I bought a cell painting of Ariel from World of Disney. I wanted the painting of
Belle but it was rather long and wasnt sure if i could hang it myself. Ariel i think was 300.00.

As a family we did a Disney Cruise in 2003. Our grandson was born 9 months later...I guess my daughter and her husband would say that he was their most expensive souvenir! :) For me, my most expensive souvenir would be a clock for my desk.

My LE Castles Watch.

The souvie I REALLY want is a Trevor Carlton Mickey Mouse painting I have been drooling over (well, actually a set of 4). I have been trying to get DH into Art of Disney to see them cuz I know he'll love them too. So far, he has refused. A girl can dream tho, can't she?

I'd guess I only spend around $300 a trip on souvies now. Usually a couple bigger things and very little small stuff.

Although I love going to WDW, I'm not that into "Disney" to collect their stuff to show around the house. So far the souvenirs I've bought have been for my kids ... tee shirts, keychains, a pearl from Japan, etc. Well they're teenagers now, and on our upcoming trip my daughter wants a kimono from Japan, and my son wants a stein from Germany (only for decoration!).

I always want to buy some of the paintings from The Art of Disney, but I am not sure I could hang them myself either :rotfl: so I cant get myself to spend the $$$$ for something I might end up having sit in a closet :rotfl:

Most Expensive - $550 in scrapbooking supplies
Least Expensive - $6 snow globe

Most Expensive: DVC Membership
Most Priceless: DD 13
Most Unnecessary (but a lot of fun): Breakfast With Figment including a Jumbo Pin and Statue

I guess I'm one of the frugal ones! So far my big splurge at WDW has been a pin-trading Tinkerbell lanyard starter set which I think was about $30.

This December's trip I think I'm gonna get a watch, but I doubt I'd be able to bring myself to spend more than $50.

But, um, does ebay count? I've bought more lanyard pins on ebay lately than I can really justify! I tell myself I'm doing this because they're cheaper than in the parks, and I feel good about bringing lanyard pins to trade since that's bringing more good trading pins back into the system, but truthfully it's also because I just like getting that little dose of Disney in my mail box!

DH bought a set of the Princess' crystal dagers, he got these in the gift shop under the castle. I think they were about $150 total, but not sure right now since that was 3 years ago. This past summer he bought me an Arribas Minnie Mouse nurse for my Birthday. The tag on it was about $200. Wouldn't know that except I am the one that pays the bills, and there it was on the Credit card bill. :rotfl2:

I have a philharmagic framed art with the pin framed in it! I dont know the value but it was a gift from disney. Stilll havent hung it anywhere..............alhough I love disney (no flames here) it doesnt quite go with any of my decor................we just redid the basement into a family room so I might end up hanging it down there.
This trip I might have to buy myself a mickey bracelet for my birthday present to myself, although my husband thinks the trip is celebration enough.stupid man, just wait til he sees the diamond cocktail ring that Mickey bought me for my birthday! Wont he be jealous! ha ha

DH and the kids surprised me with a Swarvoski Crystal Mickey Mouse (I think about $275) I love him!! I collect crystal and usually buy one small piece per trip to remember the trip . When we stayed at the swan I bought a swan, when we were in Vero Beach we saw many many crabs so I bought a crab etc. Last trip they surprised me.............

I buy it all for my girls.

Last year...
Cinderella's Castle Toy $60
2 MR. Potato head boxex $36
2 Disney girl dolls $100
All 7 outfits $88 (they were having a special they were 1/2 off)
can't remember the rest.

I'm interested in what I will spend on this next trip :earseek:

In the lobby of the Grand Floridian there is a man by the name of Alex that draw portraits and we got one made for us on our honeymoon. It was $175 but it was well worth it.

At Downtown Disney about 2 years ago we bought a Mickey as a Fireman picture from the Art of Disney.

It cost more than I care to remember. Probably about $2000. I was going to post a picture of it but our hosting site is currently down for maintenence, but they are sorry for the inconvienience!

I've bought untold inexpensive souvenirs for the kids for a few dollars. I dont think they have anything for much less.

I always buy Laila perfume in Norway ($80 plus any lotions, etc in the scent that I add on).

I also used to buy a nutcracker in Germany each trip. My sister collects them, and so mom would send $300 for me to get one for her. They're pretty much that much anywhere, so it wasn't a biggie. They don't sell them there anymore, or I haven't seen them on the past couple of trips.

As far as Disney souvenirs, I guess a Snow White dress for DD.

OMG - I fall under that spell as soon as I walk through the entrance of the park (or DTD) - I can' even blame in on DD - we are at one park or another a couple times a month, and even when I say - we are NOT going to buy things - we always do.

My most extravagant are several pieces of the crystal from Arribas Bros, a MM watch with changable bands and bezels (that I CAN"T see the numbers without my glasses - what was I thinking?) and my DD red Belle dress for her Halloween costume just recently that was bought on impulse, and that she wound up not wearing for Halloween anyway (she wore it for the NSSHP - but not to Trick or Treat at home)! Can you say EBAY??
