In your opinions, what restaurants have you heard so much about at Disney but when you got there and tried them you were very disappointed? I haven't got to Disney yet, but I was reading somewhere that a lot of people where disappointed in Boma.

Boma. Not up to the hype.

Beaches and Cream. Wasn't as disappointed because I didn't expect it to live up to the hype - but its really overhyped.

I was also disappointed in Boma. Too many sweet sauces on the meat, chicken, fish, etc. DH and I were disappointed in Artist Point. Our server rushed us through dinner and there were very few diners there. Also, my DH asked several times that his salmon not be undercooked (as many restaurants insist on doing), and he had to sent it back twice b/c it was basically raw in the middle. We haven't been back since.

For us, it was Ohana. Nothing was bad; it just wasn't wonderful. The steak was rather tough and a little over cooked. The shrimp was good but so messy and hard to peel I gave up before I got as many as I wanted. This was before the menu changes. It may have just been an off night. We might try it again, I'm not sure.

Chef Mickey's, the food was just mediocre and luke warm at best. I also felt the characters were very rushed.

Liberty Tree Tavern....Character interaction was great but overall the food did not impress me.

I totally agree with your DH! I know this is the trendy way to eat salmon and tuna but I just can't do it! :crazy2:

CRT dinner before the "change." Overall, I'm glad I did it and can say I've been inside and eaten there, but unless there are serious changes, I wouldn't go again. It felt like a cattle call. Food was mediocre -- which is okay, but don't charge me an arm and leg! Prime rib or pork tenderloin with multiple pestos, alongside such a strong cheese as gueyere or asiago baked pasta with sun dried tomatoes needs a glass of wine to compliment it, not a Coke or smoothie milkshake.

Please don't slam me, either! My mom and I went for dinner, not breakfast or lunch. We didn't need to interact with princesses. We went for the ambience and the fact that for 30+ years, we always eat burgers, pizza and chicken strips in MK. I know it's a place for kids, but there were plenty of parents and solos/adult travelers eating there, too...the parents looked so stressed and like they needed a glass of wine the most.

I'd have to say Chef Mickey's and also Nine Dragons in EPCOT's China. The interior of the restaurant was beautiful BUT the food was the same quality as our Take-Out in our own town...AND MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right there with you! I always tell them I want my tuna medium well when I order it. I usually get strange looks, but never a problem having it cooked the way I like it. Salmon I actually order a LOT when going out and haven't come across it being too undercooked, but tuna is supposed to be served this way...which I can't handle

Boma. Big let down.

It was worth the trip to see the AKL, which is pretty cool even if it isn't my style, but the food was not at all what I was expecting. Even my husband wasn't pleased and he likes anything edible. The only thing I liked was the Coca-cola pork. That was pretty good. And the desserts. There was plenty of your average buffet fare available, but you can get that anywhere.

:confused3 Oh, well. At least we tried it.

Chef Mickeys was definitely a disappointment. We have eaten at the west coast version of this restaurant "Goofy's Kitchen". We were expecting it to be similar and it didn't come close. Food was a disappointment and service was so so.

I was truly disappointed in the Sci-Fi at MGM. Food was average, not great, sitting in the cars were cool but it was very dark, kinda hard to see what your eating!!

Beaches & Cream- everybody goes nuts over it, and I just don't understand. It's a burger, fries, and ice cream. Plus you can hardly ever actually get into the place, because it's so small. Definitely my choice for most over-hyped restaurant.

Number one disappointment has to be Ohanas. These boards mention this restaurant in reverence, and you'll be flamed to death to say anything bad about it, but we've been there several times, and it has been awful. The meat is overcooked and has the consistency of fine leather.

It is so popular, they don't even try to seat you anywhere near your reservation time(we were seated at 8:10 for a 7:00 reservation last trip in April) , and when you do finally get seated, the service is rushed--they just throw the food at you as fast as they can to turn the table over.

It's like the Emporers New Clothes, I guess--the legend of this place supports itself.

I dont know if it was so much a disappointment, as we werent expecting much...but Cap'n Jacks in Downtown Disney was disgusting. The whole reason we ate there was because every other restaurant was packed with people. We were seated at a table by the little galley kitchen, so we could see them prepare everyones food. They didnt use gloves when touching the food or anything. Neither my husband or I ate more than 2-3 bites of food, and frankly we wouldnt have eaten that much but we were starving.

It was terrible. GAG! I'm surprised this place is still in operation. :sad2:
