Your Least Favorite Airport (Spinoff Of Favorite Airport)

It's not a horrible airport per se, but San Jose International has some serious issues with entry and exit by car. I remember once I got a ride to the airport from a coworker, and we literally weren't moving. I thanked him for the ride and just walked out because I didn't want to miss my flight, and I'm sure my coworker was stuck about 10 minutes just trying to get out. It's just horrendously designed and there's not much they can do to modify the road layout. Before GPS and road navigation via smart phone, I'd been driving around in San Jose and took the wrong turn to the airport terminal. Bad mistake. It took me about 15 minutes to get out, and I was already late.

The other thing was that was at SJC it was the first time I'd ever been in a security line and a supervisor was talking about shutting it down. Not simply shutting down one of several stations, but shutting it down completely and reopening later. I couldn't figure out why, but there were less than 10 people waiting to get in and no apparent reason for it.

MCO

I hate the way it's laid out. DD#2 and SoIL#2 were staying at the hotel there overnight between their cruise and a flight out to see his family, and we had to drive GS#2 down to them (we watched GS while they cruised). Three trips around the airport before we found where we needed to go for parking for the hotel. Trying to leave, every single time, I've had to circle at least twice.

Miami and LaGuardia are both pits. Old, crowded, disgusting pits of airports. Also a nightmare is the Peoria (Illinois) airport - flew to Vegas from there once. Way too many people were crowded into way too small a space, and the design was just terrible. Blech.

When is the last time you flew out of Peoria? It's very nice now. New terminal. I agree it used to be bad, but Peoria is on par with Bloomington now. I just wish they would have done ONE large airport between Bloomington, Peoria and Springfield instead of 3 smaller ones.

As for worst airports, Heathrow is crazy! Worst layout of any airport I've ever flown through. But I'd gladly fly through again!

Kansas City was pretty annoying for a layover....many times you have to leave the secure area to get to your next gate, so having to go through security again.

MIA.Flying out is a joke.Coming back from our cruise on a Saturday where five cruise ships were disembarking. There were TWO security lines open, and they certainly weren't concerned about getting everyone through.Woman in front of us lived in Miami, and said it was like that ALL the time.Nightmare.

I flew into Beijing, China, maybe 15 years ago and this airport was terrible.. It was the ultimate Chinese fire drill. I believe they have a new airport now.

I'd say the worst is Boston Logan, but I almost never go there so I'll personally go with DFW or ATL since I am in them so often and they're pretty horrible.

I swear, at ATT, do they ever not move your gate three or four times? I'll be sitting at B4 a then the app will buzz and tell me my plane is now at B60 or something. Then it'll change back to B6. And it's a BIG airport. Maybe that's just a Delta thing, but man is it annoying!

I'll join the chorus of people who hate MIA. I think I may have walked three miles from my gate through baggage claim. It's old and yicky and just super unpleasant in general.

I also hate Dulles. Hate it. Hate it. Hate it. Will happily pay more money to go out of National or BWI. In fairness, what I hate is the commute to get to the airport. Invariably, there is an insane amount of traffic getting there. The only time I ever missed a flight due to my fault was out of Dulles. Did I mention that I hate that airport?

Not yet. Been there, and it's huge but was never really designed for that many passengers.

I'm with you on the hate for Dulles. The commute is bad but I also despise having the take the "moving lounge" every time I arrive (I've only use IAD when traveling internationally, I don't think that happens with domestic flights).

ATL - can't remember a connecting flight I've had there that wasn't delayed. And I don't know who ever decided that laying out their terminals end-to-end was a good idea.

Philadelphia. Any time I have connected there it was problems. Newark - always delays.

Not sure if we're sticking to US/Canada, but I cannot think of a US/Canada airport that is worse than either Conakry (Conakry, Guinea) or Kotoka (Accra, Ghana). Luckily, Conakry is not a common destination, but Accra is a couple of times per year (I actually really enjoy Accra - just not the airport).

Laguardia. Too outdated and not enough bathrooms. I remember one time I flew from there and I waited longer on the bathroom line than security. Being pregnant at the time didn't help.

I personally dislike Albany International. It's the airport I fly out of and it's just small with not many choices for food and the good places are only open limited hours.

Close tie between LGA, EWR and ATL. Somehow at LGA we always end up at that one gate all the way at the end and downstairs. I'm looking forward to the renovations there and at Newark, though...

O'Hare hands down!

Yep me too. When I first started flying overseas in the 70s, from Atlanta you had to go to O'Hare first, then to London to elsewhere. Atlanta is my home airport so for me, it's a piece of cake but O'Hare is just a pain. Second would be San Francisco. We flew out of there to Hawaii and had to connect to a different airlines. You have to go outside, partially on an uncovered walkway, lugging your carry on and then go through security again. We were on a dive trip so even our carryon was heavy and it was raining.
