Your first stay at a WDW resort was ....

My first stay at a Disney resort was Saratoga, it was also our first trip "home". We were so completely happy with our stay and the view of the fireworks from DTD outside our window. It was awesome. The girls loved the jacuuzi. We loved everything about it.

Dixie Landings as a kid in the early 90's. That place was so fun back then and it still is now.

My first stay at WDW was in January 1972, Contemporary Tower. I think my grandparents paid about $40 a night!

Been to CA 1X... and children 1X
Been to WDW about 18X... and children 15X

Stayed at.. CBR..CSR..POFQ..ASMo..ASsp..POP..WL..and Polynesian.

My first stay was in 1977 in the Golf Resort - now Shades of Green. It was me, my husband (now deceased) and our daughter (then 14) and son (then 10). I really wanted to to stay at the Polynesian, but even 8 months in advance there were no rooms available. Since there was no DIS then to teach me the ropes, I just accepted it and did not know to call back at different times to try to get cancellations. I've come a long way since then, but it will still be the most magical trip ever, because it was the first and only one with all of us together.

My first trip to disney in 1984 we stayed on-site at the Contemporary. I was 4 so i dont remember it, but the pictures look like i had fun. :earboy2:

I believe my first stay on site was a little more than 10 years ago, at the Dolphin, or the Swan, I really can't remember. My dad had a convention there, so we were able to stay for relatively cheap. We had an amazing time. While all the other employees were stuck in meetings all day, my dad bailed and spent the day in the parks with us. It's one of my favorite Disney memories :goodvibes

My favorite resort is POFQ. It was my first grown up trip to Disney almost 3 years ago.

First stay was at PORQ in Sept of 2000

My first stay at WDW was n August 2003 at the Beach Club Villas. I had always wanted to go to WDW as a child and loved the place even more when I finally got there.

I found soap scum stuck to the shower stall with razor stubble stuck to the wall! It was just beneath the towel rack that hangs in the shower itself- so I wonder if that had been changed recently. I was disgusted- but we had ADRs in less than 3 hours at Chef Mickey and there was no way to shower, change rooms and get to the restaurant at a diff resort. We were only staying the one nite so I just dealt with it. But I didn't tip!

Good for you with the no tipping... hopefully you notified the front desk as well? I've read, over the last months as I'm planning my next trip, this or something similar regarding less than stellar mousekeeping stories... It happens Deluxe, Moderate and Value. Go figure!! :rolleyes1

Tent camping at Fort Wildreness when I was a kid (mid-70s).

My first WDW stay was Halloween week of 1978, when my son was 3 1/2. We had visited for the first time on 4th July of that year (we stayed at the Howard Johnson's on Orange Blossom Drive that trip). We brought our 8 x 10' tent and stayed at Fort Wilderness, which was very convenient. We took the boat back and forth each day to the Magic Kingdom, which was the only park at that time. It was $21.00 for the night. We stayed at Fort Wilderness many times in the next seven years, moving up through pop-up trailers to our own 17' foot travel trailer (finally, our own bathroom!). On our last stay there (Sept., 1985) it cost us $29.00/night. Then real life intervened, health problems, a teen-aged son who didn't think it was too cool to be with his parents all the time, the end of my teaching career and changing to all-year round employment, and we didn't return to WDW again until May, 2001. Our first stay in an INDOOR WDW resort was at PO Riverside on that trip. And, when DS was 28, he decided that it was alright to vacation with his parents again...only this time he brought his wife and daughter!

I went 5 times before age 21, all offsite visits because my family didn't think it worth the extra money, and so I always had it in my head that only the super-rich must be able to vacation at Disney this way.

First "Disney" resort was actually HHI, on my sister's points. We had so much fun on that trip, and loved the resort so much we decided to buy DVC.

Sooo, our first "WDW" resort was AKL when dh and I went last year for the weekend to square away all the paperwork for DVC. Yeah, we could've done it via mail, but that's no fun!! I loved AKL, dh thought it very nice but too dark. The pool was absolutely wonderful. And we soooo loved being on property, not needing a car, getting the little perks like EMH, and so forth.

I think it's interesting that so many people on this thread stayed Poly or CR for their first WDW resort! I guess those resorts did their job of creating lifelong Disney lovers!

My first stay was at the Contemporary in 1972. My dad still complains how it cost $75 per night (dont know for sure that is correct) to get a room facing the MK.

My first stay as an adult was at POFQ and it is still one of my favorites!

My first stay was a loooong time ago when I was very young. We stayed in the FW cabins, although they were mobile homes back then.

Our first trip was the Dolphin this past April. DW had a convention but she also bailed one day to put in a full day at MK. I think the best part was being able to experience Disney through my kids eyes. DS5 and DD3 keep asking when we get to go back. I tell you the McD's commercials and Happy Meals really put it back into full force.

I don't think it really matters where you stay, as long as you enjoy the magic. I am in the beginning stages of planning our next trip, again April, I think. :cool1:

Just need a little :wizard: to make sure all the pieces fall into place

My first stay was in 1978 at the Contemp. The were only 2 hotels and MK at that time, but it was great!

19yo with DH and his family, split say Ploynesian/Contmporary.

DH's family had been every year since they opened. He got very sick our senior year of HS. He wasn't expected to live so they took him one last time and promised to take me the next summer. Well, his surgery was a success, and we found ourselves having a ball the next summer at WDW. I was really amazed that they took me since they weren't very fond of me at the time, but they kept their word, and now I can blame them for passing along their disney addiction!! (My special needs son is a bit to blame too :rolleyes1 ) :wizard:

in 1972 at the Polyn - there were only Polyn and Cont

sorry FW was around - so was Disney's Village Resort (in DD)
