Your first stay at a WDW resort was ....

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: My first stay was at the Boardwalk villas in a studio. It was the first time with my family. I had been before but had always stayed off-site. My boys were 7 and 4 so I wanted to stay on-site. My DH did not want to go to Disneyworld and I didn't want to take the boys by myself. I planned the trip myself. I decided on the Boardwalk because I couldn't get into the Beach Club. I knew my DH would love the Epcot area and that's why I chose an Epcot resort. My DH fell in love with Disney and we had booked our next Disney vacation before the end of our first vacation--had booked a two bedroom villa. We have since gone 13 times in 14 years. We have gone at different times of the year and have never been disappointed. My mom, girlfriend and I are going back to Disney--just came back from an eight day vacation in March--the 1st of December. This will be our first 'Christmas' trip. We are staying at the Swan this time. We stayed at the Dolphin in March because DH had a conference at the Dolphin. Beautiful hotel!!!!

My first time onsite was Fort Wilderness campground as a not quite 4 year old with her Grandparents. Don't remember much.

My first on site stay as an adult was CBR but it is the CR that holds the memories for me as it was where I stayed on my honeymoon and how my DH fell in love with Disney.

you people are probably to young to remember - but getting a WDW hotel room then was a BIG challenge.

Disney did not use outside travel agencies - so you had to have their phone number.

even then you could be on the waiting list for 2 years.

on our first stay we stayed at the Sheraton (since sold and resold now a Best Western) because she got told that there were no Disney resorts.

well she was pretty mad when we arrived at the MK and saw the Polyn and Cont.

she asked at the front desk how to make reservations - they suggested eastern airlines (does that make anyone remember?) or greyhound (yes Disney have a contract with greyhound in those long ago days)....

My first resort was the WL. It was my honeymoon and it was wonderful!!!

First stay on resort was September 2005 at Coronado Springs resort so we could get the free dining. I'd never stayed on property before OR been able to justify eating at all the wonderful restaurants - what a difference it makes! The entire trip was magic. It wasn't my first time going to WDW but it was my boyfriend's first time ANYWHERE. It totally blew his mind! We're going back in September next year for the triathlon AND for a nice vacation ON RESORT again!

My first trip to WDW was December of 1987. I was 29 at the time, also first trip for DH (now ex-DH), and DS4 and DD3 (at that time). I had been wanting to go for years. When I was in grade school, a neighbor and classmate wen to her grandmother's in Cocoa Beach every year. I was fascinated with that and remember watching all the specials about WDW being built.

Finally in 1984 I decided my children were going to get to vacation there and started reading and researching. I bought and read the Birmbaum guide every year beginning in 1984 and joined the Magic Kingdom Club through work. I booked the Grand Plan at the Comtemporary Resort for 4 nights. Construction was taking place on The Grand Floridian and the Swan and Dolphin. Since all our meals were included we did Chef Mickey's, character breakfast at the Polynesian, Melvin the Moose breakfast at Fort Wilderness, Hoop-De-Doo, Mickey's Luau, and the Top of the World Sunday Brunch. We did 2 days at MK, 2 days at Epcot and 1 day at the shopping village. I had read so much about the parks, when we walked in I was able to get us around as if I had been coming for years! I priced the same vacation up a few years later and the prices were astronomical! I think we went at a good time.

We had driven from upstate NY for this trip. We went to Kennedy Space Center and Daytona Beach before Disney and Sea World after. We took about 2 weeks total including travel. Even though the kids were small they were wonderful. When my last son was born, I kept saying he was so wild that we had to put off future trips until he knew how to behave. He had to wait until he was 5 for his first trip.

I had such a great time on that first trip I couldn't wait to return. Fortunately for me, I changed jobs to a new company in 1988 and was "required" to travel to Orlando on business 3 times between 1989 and 1993. In 1989, I stretched a 4 day business trip into a 9 day stay with a co-worker, again the first week of December. My youngest son was only 2 months old at the time but I was able to bury the guilt most of the time by thinking I wouldn't have this chance again. Then in 1990, 3 co-workers and I went to Orlando and managed to squeeze in a day at MK and a day at MGM. On another business trip in 1993, I had two co-workers attend the DVC presentation with me. When I made the decision to purchase in early 1994, they both signed my papers as witnesses since they were there with me!

My next family trip was in 11/94 at OKW as DVC members with my family in a 2 bedroom villa and two studios for my sister and her twin daughters and my younger sister. And the rest is history...

Our first trip was July of 96 at DxL now POR, We drove down it was a surprise trip for children we kept it a secret for over six month's Dd was 12 & DS was 7. Dd was so excited she cried DS was very unhappy he thought we were going to the beach and did not want to go to WDW. It was a magical trip and it began DH & I 's obession with all things Disney. We did drive to Daytona beach to make Ds feel better about the trip. I have such wonderful memories of just not that trip but all of them. I am planning something special for myself next year at WDW it will be 10 years since that first trip and DH & I would have been married 20 years next Dec and I made him a promise before he passed away that I would continue Our love and memories for our family and Disney

My first onsite stay was in 1988 at the Contemporary. I had visited Disney growing up but had never stayed on site. When DH and I married my FIL planned our first family trip. He asked where I wanted to go and I said (surprise) WDW. He booked our family into the Contemporary and I loved it. I've only stayed off site once since that visit and if possible never again. The one time was using our time share which we no longer own, now we're DVC members, but we still go sometimes and stay at different hotels on site.

Our first trip was just this month. We stayed in the all stars Movie the Fantasia building. It was great near the pool but far enough away no noise. Close to bus pickup and near cafateria. For a 50 year old first timer it was great :cool1:

My first stay was in 1984 (?) when I was 8, almost 9 years old. We drove from NJ to Disney in a motor home that my uncle bought. It was Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle, 2 cousins, and me. My uncke had alo rented a trailer for additional sleeping since there were so many of us. When we got to Fort Wilderness we found out that the trailer was disgusting. :scared: I don't think he checked it out before we left. Mom, Dad and I were supposed to sleep in it. My parents didn't know whet to do. The only reason we could afford to go was because we were staying in the trailer. Well, Grandma came to the rescue as grandmas often do. :cool1: My grandparents paid for us to stay in one of Disney's trailers at Fort Wilderness. Since then I've only stayed off site once (it was my senior class trip and I had no choice)

Sept 05 in the CR on the 14th floor. It was great to watch the fireworks. TDDs loved the monorail and being close to Chef Mickey.

Camp Wilderness in April 1972. It truly was a "Small World" then with only the MK and the CR and Poly.
when I went back the next time it was 1995 and we stayed in a bungalow at the Disney Village.

Our first stay was at Ft Wilderness in the Trailers in 1987. Had a great Time. :Pinkbounc

Oh My Gosh Ann,

The Melvin the Moose Breakfast!!!! That was the first trip we took with our oldest 2 kids. It was our first character breakfast and it was actually the last performance of that show. It was kinda sad, they gals all got roses and everyone was teary eyed.

I had two offsite trips prior to my first onsite. My first trip was with my parents and DSis when we were young. My second trip was with my ex and we stayed at a Holiday Inn near WDW. When we divorced I was so torn up and made it a goal to go to WDW for my 25th birthday.
Well two years later I was selling cars and decided I need some incentive to sell more.. ..and I remembered my old goal...so for my 25th birthday and my parents belated 25th anniversary we went to WDW and stayed at All Star Music. No it wasn't fancy, but I worked my butt off and payed for the whole trip with no assistance from my parents. I also paid rack rate and went on a package! Nothing was sweeter then seeing that pool with the three amigos and taking a resort bus to the parks...I cried when we were in line for Epcot. I'll never forget that trip, the buses droped us off at the "front door" at the MK, I was never so excited as I was that first time at the MK!! We went to MNSSHP on my birthday(halloween) and I fell in love with the F&W fest. My obsession with staying "onsite", MNSSHP, and the F&W fest began. I have to say no trip(other then my last October trip :teeth: ) compares!
My parents still talk about it and were so excited to come back five years later for my WDW wedding. They stayed at the POP but said that the All Star Music will always hold a special place in their hearts and I have to agree!

I made my first trip in the womb...my mom was 7 months pregnant with me. The first trip where I was visible was when I was 4 at the polynesian. y first trip with my family now as an adult was my honeymoon to the Carribean Beach Resort!!

I was born in South Florida and have lived here my whole life (except going away to college). I don't remember my first trip because I was a baby, and I'm not sure where we stayed. I know I went some other times after that that I don't remember (I remember being scared on Snow White). The first trip that I remember, we stayed at the Contemporary. My mom liked that the monorail came right through the hotel. We always stayed here when we came. One of my favorite things was the character breakfast at CR. One of the characters sat down with us for a little bit to eat and I thought that was the greatest thing; I still remember.

Our first WDW trip we stayed in the Polynesian. It was for our honeymoon and we had originally booked the CBR and it was being renovated. For some odd reason, for the same price we paid for a week at CBR, we were upgraded to Garden View Concierge at the Polynesian.

Between the wedding and all the excitement of our first WDW trip, that was probably the best week of my life!! :flower:

My first trip was in 1984, when I was 8 - we stayed offsite. Don't remember where. My next trip, I was 12 or 13 and my whole family (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.) stayed at the Polynesian. The rest of my stays:

1984 - offsite
1989 - Poly
1992/93 - Dolphin
1997 - offsite
2004 - GF (disney wedding)
2005 - POFQ/GF (1st anniversary)
And we will be back Feb. 2006...
GF (2nd anniversary)
