We went to the California grill this past Novemeber and November 2006, both times I saw plenty of people in their park clothes, shorts, flip flops. I know they have a dress code but I did not see many people dressed up the 2 nights we dined there.
Thanks but I would rather not be among that group of patrons.

We are two adults, no kids, don't do the dining plan, and have also been to all of these except for Wave and Sanaa. Our idea of a good meal must include not only good food and service, but also a quiet enough environment that we can enjoy our conversation with one another and a decent wine selection as we will split a bottle with our meal.

So I picked the ones where we have enjoyed a more adult experience for most of our visits to that particular place. Since it's WDW, one cannot go in guaranteed that it will be an adult experience but we've had the best luck at Citricos, Jiko and Brown Derby. We take the latest dinner times available.

My favorites were not on your list but I did manage to color within the lines.

I'm going to follow this thread with interest (hope that's ok Bicker) as we are doing our first adult only - no kids trip in over 20 years. Also staying at AKL and doing the deluxe dining plan. We are thinking Boma, Narcoose, YM Steakhouse, Flying Fish but I have until June to figure out exactly. We are not huge fans of Cali Grill but maybe would try the Wave. We are staying one night at BLT so perhaps that night.

Staying at AKL really is a special case, tink, for a couple without kids in tow, in this day-and-age of relying on Disney bus transportation (because of how great of a service Magical Express is), and so I think it does present a special challenge for us in that situation.

We're also not park-hopping this year, so that means we're only going to be doing at most two Epcot dinners. Another complication that we've not had to deal with much, in past years.

I see The Wave almost as an inevitability, unless some folks strongly convince us otherwise, just because of the dress code limitations associated with California Grill, and the impracticality of going back to the resort to change for dinner. Either that or just not plan on an evening at MK, and have yet-another meal at AKL.

We are also not park hopping and it does present a problem - I think we may have to do Epcot 2 days as well. We are going to try the Sunrise Safari one day so that will take care of breakfast. I'm not a big breakfast eater and could wait until 10 or 10:30 to eat, but dh has to eat right away. We were also planning to do the KTTK tour one morning. This will be our first stay at AKL and we are looking forward to it.

We're not staying concierge, so Sunrise Safari is out for us. :( Breakfast I'm not really concerned about much anyway. We're happy enough with a bagel, or even cereal and fruit will be a great treat.

I voted for Mama Melrose because it was REALLY good when we ate there in 2007. It doesn't usually get a lot of buzz, but we had a great time there and enjoyed our meal from start to finish.

I also voted for Coral Reef mostly because of the atmosphere and service. The food is good, it's just that the prices are kind of steep unless you are on the DDP.

Chefs de France had good food and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is very charming.

Boma and Jiko are great options and are worth making a trip to AKL. Not only is the atmosphere really great at both restaurants (although very different), but the food and service are great. Depending on what you are in the mood for, you can find it at Boma or Jiko.
