Your Experiences remodeling a bathroom

Get a good plumber who can buy quality fixtures at a plumbing supply store. We did two bathrooms and hired a plumber, flooring installer and counter top installer and did the rest ourselves. Saved more than 50%.

It is not nearly as complicated as a bath remodel company will tell you it is.

Flooring company comes and rips up floor. Plumbers come in and do their work. Cabinets and counters are next and then flooring. Plumber comes back and installs sinks and toilets (we arranged to have one working bath). We trimmed the shower and painted walls and woodwork. If you have two bathrooms it should not be a problem to coordinate this. Big $$$ savings!

Don't crack the toilet in half reinstalling it after doing the floor in your only bathroom with your 8 month pregnant wife asking when you're going to be done at 8:45 at night when Lowes closes at 9 and you're 30 miles away.

Letting you know from experience. I did make it in time to buy a new one and did get home in time to get it in before there was another, um, mess to clean up.
