What's THAT about???? I was following a nice helpful little thread with TIPS about touring the parks in anticipation of our upcoming trip.....

TRIVIA is NOT tips........

While I think Disney trivia is great, it's not what I was interested in right now.....

A TRIVIA THREAD SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN COMBINED AND/OR MERGED IN OUR TIPS THREAD.....

This was a "secrets" thread...not a trivia thread....

Wow...I really don't want to hurt your feelings, but that comment seems so inappropriate right now...

You do know about the monorail crash, right?

There is a whole internet campaign/petition asking Disney to rename one of the Mark IVs after Austin and his heroic efforts to save himself, the monorail, and his passengers.

I'm sorry, I hadn't heard about his efforts to save himself, the monorail or his passengers. Please, if you could, steer me toward that info. All I heard was about the accident and what a great guy he was.

You'd have to Google it. I subscribe (or follow) a lot of Disney people on twitter, and it was mentioned in several articles that they had proof he was trying desperately to put the train into reverse.

If I can find the link, I will post it here for you.

In it, you can read where the NTSB determined that the purple train operator (Austin) was trying to put the train into reverse when the crash occurred. Since his train was already headed out of the station, he couldn't get out since there wouldn't have been any landings on either side of him.

I can't even begin to imagine the terror this young man was experiencing in his final few moments of life.

Hello,

I found Disney Quest to be a lot of fun. I'm into the VR stuff and Quest is basically a whole floor of VR as well as other games and experiences. If you're into this stuff, you gotta go there.

Sorry I don't want to be rude, a simple comment about the accident with a link would be enough. And I think secrets/trivia fit into the same catagory as the OP wanted to know things the average vistor didn't know, which would fall under trivia.
