Your best tips for first timers

I don't know. I do know that as a kid I didn't get sea sick, but that it's something that happens to me now that I'm older. On a cruise, I take Bonine on all sea days just to be safe because it takes a while to kick in. I will say that I did a snorkeling trip in Hawai'i (to Molokini Crater) where 80% of the people on board got sea sick because the water was super choppy and we were on a small boat. So under the right (or should I say wrong) conditions, it's common. I think it's worth bringing along something for sea sickness just to be safe. If you don't need it, not much risked. But needing it and not having it can ruin the day.

RE: Seasickness

in my 130+ nights aboard cruise ships, i've gotten sea sick twice. Once wiped me out for an entire day, the other only for a few hours.

We do snorkel frequently while cruising in the Caribbean - and I take max dosage of Dramamine (and maybe that helps with sea sickness the other days :confused3

and another thing about motion sickness - I take Dramamine EVERY DAY while visiting WDW or DL - so that's how susceptible i am to motion sickness.
