Your Autograph Book TIPS

Where did you get a big fat pen?
I went to Office Max and bought fat pens - a 2 pack for $1 - they were on clearance. Worked fine for us.
What kind of autograph book did you use? Spiral, traditional or homemade ?
Again at OfficeMax I bought 4X6 spiral index cards - they were by Oxford and had a plastic cover and dividers. I got two different colors. About $2 each. At home I turned them over and "made" a cover saying "Bryce's Autograph's 2006" and "Kayleigh's Autograph's 2006" and stuck it on the back cover. I then took some curling ribbon and tied it to the pen - a click type - and then tied it to the spiral. I kept each book in its own quart ziplock bag.
How big was the book you used? 4X6 - would fit perfect in the 7X7 scrapbooks I will make.

During our first night - we had an "accident" Tigger signed on a ruled side of the cards - so my DH took the dividers that came with the books and always had them arranged to the only surface the character could write on is on the blank side. After a character signed - he would flip the page and move the divider - worked great!

I like the index cards as they were a little thicker and since I intend on "cutting" them out to add to their scrapbooks I wanted thicker paper.

The kids all picked outnotebooks at a.c.moore's cost 89c. I plan on adding disney stickers to the pages when we get back. I'm getting a 12 x 12 Diisney scrapbook next time a.c.moore,s has half off. Also picked up at local dollar store a Mickey diary complete with lock for the girls to journal each day, starting on the plane .They like this idea.

Last year we had the click sharpies and the characters loved these. They just clicked them to sign and then clicked them off so no stains.... :sunny:

I thought that might be the best way to do markers with the characters.

Also I liked the photo frame idea.

Do Sharpies not bleed through to the next sheet? That has always been my dilemma. I got big, fat crayons instead and loved the look.

I found a multi colur pen (big fat one) at our disney store (In canada) it has mickey on it and was 6.99 CDN $ It has 6 colours - I am thinking of selling a bunch on ebay becuase they are said to be now discoutinued - it also has a neck rope around it, which makes it easier not to misplace

I have about 20 of them . . . because I found :cool1: them in the sale bin :)

thought my son could do it for a few extra bucks, while doing something fun - he loves licking envelpoes lol - NO IDEA WHY! :rotfl:

I did the photo mat and absolutely love it! Mine was only 7 x 9 inches, so it fit in our backpack with no problem. (I also put it in a large ziploc bag, so if the backpack got rained on, too near splash mountain, etc., it was double-protected.) We took 2 different color sharpies, and let DS choose what color was "right" for each character.

ok I leave in about 7 hours now and I still have to make my dd's book- I have it ready to go I just have to put it all together- I bought a blank scrapbook I am putting a Mickey and goofy swimming on the front with some 3-d stickers and then I am making waves and putting her name on it in Mickey ears with bubble ears on top of it- looks like a 3-d sticker. Soooo I guess I should go make it eh? I had the idea after someone on here posted great photos of her books and I thought- dang I can do that.... well I can just not in time......

Whatever you do, make sure that you put your address somewhere in the book! My daughter had an authograph book that was filled with authographs from 3 trips! Yes, you guessed it, she dropped it during Wishes and we did not know it was missing until we came back to the resort. She was devastated!
Imagine our surprise when we found it waiting for us home when we got back! It was a very happy moment!!!   pixiedust: pixiedust:

MAKE SURE YOU WRITE YOUR ADDRESS IN YOUR BOOKS!!! :smickey:

Here are a few pages from the book I made for a friend's trip (some of them did not print correctly in this format, but you can get the idea). I printed them out on 8-1/2 x 11 card stock (2 to a page), leaving a 1/2 inch margin on the left side, where holes are punched, and then the pages are inserted in a 5 x 7 scrapbook. I made them the same way for my daughter and a friend in December, and they were a big hit!

This is a great thread... My daughter is debating over whether she wants to make a book to take or buy one at WDW. Size is going to make a huge difference for us, since I am only carrying a small bag! Can anyone tell me how big the official small blue autograph books are? Many thanks :)

They are slightly larger than an index card, and very easy to tote around.

Thanks for the pictures. them. Anyone else want to post pics of the books they made? Or anything that you had signed? That would awesome.

Thank you everyone for the awesome ideas. Giving me lots of good tips!!!! :goodvibes

here are my tips from the other side of the spectrum.

the bigger the better, some places have poor lighting and characters basicaly sign by gues work. Make sure you have them a blank page when handing it over because like i said limited visibility can cause a character to sign over another sig. Do not had plain index cards it's near impossible to sign on . have a nice good backing for them to bare down on.

if you get a t-shirt signed make sure it's appropriate and stretch it out nice and tight for the character to sign, It can not be on yoru person same with hats.

We make our own signature book for every trip!! It's awesome and we get compliments on them all the time from CM's, characters and other guests.
We take blank, unlined 5x7 index cards and print pictures of characters on them. There are so many clip art sites that you could easily make a card for every character out there!!!
Then we 3 hole punch the cards and place them in a 5x7 binder.
We decorate the front and back covers by inserting a piece of card stock that we decorate with the title of our trip and stickers and scrapbook materials.
We use Sharpie markers in various colors.
The characters love signing on "their" page!!!! :cool1:

GREAT INFO :thumbsup2 have a great summer :goodvibes
thank you
mary ;)

Sharpie ckick pens are the way to go for autographs. We have only used the Disney books and they work great. They also are handy for characters to autograph the unusuall item that might come into play while touring

I've made the autograph books already and have printed out small separate character clip art on sticker paper. Now I'm debating on whether to put the stickers on the pages BEFORE our trip.... or wait until after?

I JUST HAD A BRIGHT IDEA!!!!!!!!

Here WAS my dilemna:

I know it would be easier & faster to hand the characters the autograph book with the next blank page - then the stickers could be attached LATER. But what if the character signed too big and the stickers won't fit later? How could I "save" a spot on each page for the character sticker? I heard that the characters will sometimes sign as big as the space you give them.

If you attach the sticker BEFORE the trip, do you do it alphabetically by character name? What about my 5 yr. old who can't spell? I think we might waste too much time waiting for the kids to find the right character picture?

Now my bright idea!!!!!!

I think I will buy some of those "SIGN HERE" stickys and just put them on each page where I want them to sign - saving space for the stickers to be applied later!! Plus, if I get a character that I didn't have a sticker for I could find it after our trip.

HAS ANYONE DONE THIS ALREADY AND DOES IT WORK?????
