Your Autograph Book TIPS

 Ok. I am very excited and wanted to share these with others that would be as excited (showed to my mom but she didn't ooh and ahh, lol). My DD5 and I are going to WDW at the end of this month. I was inspired by the posts by UP Disney and legalslave in this thread and have my first set of cards done. I'll start another tonight and when I get enough done, I'll update. My dad made my daughter a leather photo album that says Disney Memories and has some disney art on it too. He's going to give it to her birthday in August so I figure that's just enough to have these signatures laminated and the pictures of her with the characters printed.

If anyone else has done these, I'd LOVE to see them. I'd really like to find a way to combine all of ours for greater selection. I know time consuming they are so sharing sounds good. :)

Great job! Time consuming, yes, but I loved every minute. Your daughter will get a lot of extra attention from the characters.

Last year we had the click sharpies and the characters loved these. They just clicked them to sign and then clicked them off so no stains.... :sunny:

Oh, that's a great idea....I love the clicky sharpies myself!! :sunny:

They are large enough for the characters?

My Dh really likes the autograph books with slots for the pictures also. Any suggestions on these?

Here is a link to my daughter's autograph book that I made for our April/May 2006 trip that we had to cancel. We are booked for next May so the book will be put to use then. I used Creative Memories and EK Success supplies. The area that I have for the characters to sign are 4x5 inches, with Chip and Dales being slighty bigger as I hope that both will sign. I plan to take 4x5 card stock for characters that are not in the book to sign, as I plan to do a 12x12 book one we get home. I have also done a simliar book for my son, minus the princesses.

Thats really nice! Where did you get the book at ? Thanks

For the kids' first time we didn't know any better and bought both the autograph books & fat pens in our resort.

This time I think I'd like to get the characters to sign index cards so I can add them to our scrapbook too. But if both kids have autograph books, how do I get the cards signed? Can adults get signatures too? I know it wouldn't be a problem at a character meal, but I don't know if it will be a problem at the parks. :confused3

It is a good idea to put your address in your child's autograph book. I found one today at Epcot and took it to Lost and Found. They told me that most of the lost autograph books are never retrieved. If they have an address in them, Disney will send them to your home. If not, your child has just lost a book of memories.

First, yes, adults can get signatures too.
Are you committed to having an autograph book and cards for the scrapbook? If it seems like too much, you could scan the autographs from the kids' books. Or get the perforated , spiral bound index cards, decorate the front, let the kids use that as their autograph book and then take it apart when you get home.

I am in a similar bind. I plan to make an autograph album before we go. I'll bring extra cards for characters that aren't in the album. I plan to still get the blue autograph book -- but only use it when we meet characters for the 2nd time -- we booked a bunch of meals and should meet Mickey several times. The extra book is worth it to me to keep DD6 happy. I don't know what to do about DS4 -- so far he is completely uninterested in the characters. I'd hate to put the hours into making him a book only to have him refuse to meet the characters!! So maybe a blue book for him and I can make a special book afterwards by scanning his autographs. Or I guess I could make his book and if he doesn't use it I could sell it on ebay!

I don't have a scanner so that's not an option for me. Also I only have a cheapy ink jet printer, so even with a scanner it wouldn't be helpful. I won't be embarassed at all getting my own autographs, I just didn't know if it was frowned upon! If there's a really long line then I wouldn't do it.

I don't need everyone's autograph, but some would be nice to put some into the scrapbook. I wasn't into scrapbooking on our last trip and wound up buying the disney scrapbook on ebay about a year after we came back! It took a long time to make but the kids just love it & I do too ;) Now I know enough to get some extra maps :thumbsup2

i don't know if this has been said yet (there's too many pages to go through it), but please have the books (if you have one to sign) open before giving it to a character, most of them only have 4 fingers or even if they have 5, they are wearing really thick gloves and writing is hard enough, but try turning thin paper wearing them. i've seen a lot of families buy disney hats and have the characters sign them (also the same idea with tee shirts)- i know that kermit the frog, king louie, and goliath do not sign, the increadiblies, frozone and buzz have stamps.

I don't know if this has been asked before SO.....I was wondering if each child has their own autograph book or do you do one per family. I have five kids and we have five character meals planned. Will the characters actually take the time to sign 5 books, pose for A LOT of pictures and visit with us as well? Or should we just limit the books to one? I'm not sure if I want to lug around 5 books as well. I don't know what to do.........help :confused3

you can have as many autograph books as you wish per family and characters love to sign them
on autograph books, it's really hard to sign a park map, a loose sheet of paper or a single notecard- there is nothing hard as a backing so the character has to hold the pen and the paper at the same time- with tee shirts and stuff the attendent and child help stretch it while the character signs

For my sons 1st trip I got him the blue WDW autograph book and the pen they sell there too (got it in the park). What I did was to get a picture of my son and the character signing the book. When I got home, I scanned the autographs, shrunk them down and then using my photo software I made a 4 x 6 page-half autograph and half photo of my son with that character. I then printed them out and put them in the small, hard (wooden ?) red photo album book I got at Mouse Gears (says something like 4 parks and has room for a photo on the cover-I used one with my son in front of the castle). Now each time we go back (I will start one for my daughter this trip) we get more autographs (I only need one autograph for each character, but take two photos-one of son, and one of daughter) and I add it to their books. Its fun to look back on the old ones to see how much theyve grown. The only dupes I get are with Mickey to really compare how much theyve grown!
The other thing, I found (somewhere) a pocket size printout of all the characters. I can then check off the ones we already have so we dont have to wait in line for repeats!

I cut 6x6 pages and take them with me along with a decorated clipboard(got at a scrapbook store) Have the characters sign it with the pen from disney thinking I may do Sharpie this year, and when I get home I'll print the picture and stick it on the page next to the autograph,

Could you get them to sign one book and make copies when you get home ? Maybe let the kids take turns getting the autographs for the book so no one feels left out? I don't know if that would work for your family or not. At the meals the characters might have more time to sign all the books but in a character line it might be overly time consuming.

This is kinda hard as we don't have kids yet and this will be our first time getting autographs ourselves.

I got my children to leave the page next to the autograph blank so I could stick a photo of the character signing their books next to the signature :cool1:

I only have 2 kids, so they each had their own autograph book. I won't have a stroller to keep them in this year, so although a lot of these ideas sound great, I really don't want to lug any thing extra around the parks! Since I'm now bringing index cards, I'll have to find a way to keep them together to make it easier for them to sign. I didn't think of that, so thanks to all who mentioned it :)

Although you may find waiting for all of the kids autograph books to be signed time consuming, as the person standing in line behind you, I would not begrudge your children their time with the characters. Just because they are fortunate enough to have 4 siblings, doesn't mean they should be unfortunate in their experience at disney world. If I was in line behind you, I would see the 5 children and know what to expect. It is no different than standing behind 5 unrelated children. The only time I get annoyed is when a group starts taking every possible combination of photos -- kid A with kid B, kid A with kid B & C, kid A with dad, just the blond haired people, with hats on, with hats off etc...

I have 3 children. 2 of them will have autograph books (1 yr old won't) DD6 loves getting autographs -- it is her favorite thing to do at the parks. She gets multiple signatures per character per trip. DS4 sometimes wants the autographs, sometimes he doesn't.
