Your all time worst dining experience at WDW

First off let me say that Disney Dining is one of my favorite things about WDW. The restaurants are so clever and attractions in themselves.

I just thought it would be fun to hear your "not so magical" experiences if you have them. (I know, I have a strange sense of "fun" :) )

Mine would include the violent food poisoning I got at Teppanyaki at the Japan pavillion or the time my husband got into a huge fight at Sci-Fi, but the worst of all would have to be the at Tony's at the MK. We had a "jokester" for a waiter who thought he was hilarious and we didn't think so. We never said anything rude to him, but we had a hard time laughing at his jokes and eventually started to ignore him.

And he got mad at us!!

He started saying things like "I guess you people just don't have a sense of humor" and " I won't even try to kid around with you anymore!"

We never complained about him. When you're in WDW, you're so happy you can forgive just about anything!!!!

Worst ever = Tony's in MK

Bad Service
Bad Hostess
Bad table location
Worse Food

Never again!

Runner up for us, an experience that was just fair: Chef Mickey

You know you are right about Tony's but we like to go there sometime at the end of the day at the MK as the park is clearing out. But to pay that much for a plate of spaghetti!!!!!!

Our Thanksgiving 2003 trip included so many wonderful dining experiences. The one experience we didn't care for was Cinderella's Royal Table for dinner. The service we poor, the food was overpriced and underwhelming and even the restaurant itself felt a little 'rundown', definitely in need of a rehab. The atmosphere was nice and being in the Castle during Wishes was very nice, but I think the idea of dining in the Castle was much better than the actual experience. Shame really, I don't think I'd bother again. Our upcoming trip is going to include all different dining choices than last time, the only repeats are going to be Crystal Palace brekkie and Sci-Fi Dine In lunch (loved it!).

I always thought it was a little strange that breakfast was so much fun and dinner there was not so special!

I think sometimes the experience we anticipate for months and months and most look forward to are the ones that end up being a let down. That was our case with Chef Mickey's. Everyone raved about it, my kids thought it would be this awesome experience and it was a let down. :confused3
I am afraid this might be the case with dining in the castle!

On the other hand, sometimes the places you go to with no expectations turn out to be your best experiences: for us those places include- Le Cellier for lunch, Spoodles for breakfast, Teppanyaki for dinner and more!

Couple of years ago at Rainforest in DTD. Waiter was annoyed because we were a party of ten. Never could figure out exactly why that ticked him off ... his tip was automatic. I was tempted to contest his tip, but I didn't. Guess he wasn't having a Disney Day.

:jumping2: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Our worse experience would have to be Tony's Town Square in MK.

While we are more than used to paying top dollar in Disney, and eat in sit down restaurants most of the time. the $18 dish of spaghetti and meatballs was terriblwe, and the service was not so hot. It's probably the only restaurant in all the WDW that my whole family agrees on - none of us want to go back!

Ours was definately at the Rainforest Cafe in Animal Kingdom! We went there on our first trip to WDW in 2002 and we were really excited to try the Rainforest for lunch on our AK day - I had a 11:30 PS and I had the safari card , we were seated immediately but after that is was all down hill - super SLOW service , cold food and extremely high priced - that was the most expensive lunch we had all week. It took us 2 hours to have lunch - I was so mad that it took us away from touring AK for 2 hours. Never again! For now on at AK we will eat at either Flame Tree or Tusker House- much better food, better price and doesn't take 2 hours for lunch! :flower:

Maybe I should have asked for good dining experiences in the MK!! ;) Anyone have one ever?

I wish there was a really good place there!

This wasn't recent but one of our first trips either 91 or 93 we ate at The Odyssey :crazy2: It was the WORST meal we have ever had. It had some kind of smokey or hickory seasoning and even the sodas tasted like it. YUCK!

Our worst dining experience was at Spoodles, back in November. We've been going to Disney since our honeymoon in 1994. For some reason, we had not tried Spoodles. We've eaten pretty much everywhere else. So, we gave it a shot. YUK! It was horrific. My husband's chicken was so dried up! I had to send my steak back 3 times. Ordered medium rare, got well done. Politely sent it back, came back medium well. Sent it back again, came back medium. I gave up. It was horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then, to top it off, my husband got sick afterwards.

Never again!

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet...maybe all the others above are sit down....but this one takes the medal for sure! Two years in a row (boy, I am I a glutton for punishment!) we had lunch there, just for the lack of any decent food in MGM.

What's the Odyssey? I've been trying to think all morning!

Hands down Sci-Fi Dine In. Slow, lackluster service, the clips get boring the third time through. Mediocre food, could have gotten a comparable burger at Cosmic Ray's for a lot less money. To top it off the shake made me nauseous. Only time I've ever really wanted to just leave a WDW restaurant.

Our worst experience was at The Living Seas Restaurant. We had PS, and still had to wait an hour to be seated (to make matters worse, it was with my DS who was 3 at the time).

When we finally got our seats, it was in the furthest table from the tank view that you could imagine. Then we were ignored for about 15 minutes before the waiter finally realized that we were in his section. He took our drink order and never returned. We waited for another 20 minutes and from there decided that it was time to grab a burger somewhere else.

It was terrible. This was back in 98' so maybe they've improved on the service by now. I don't know, we've never gone back!! :sad2:

Fulton's Crab House. Even though we had a PS we waited almost an hour to be seated and then another 20 minutes till our waiter appeared. I ordered lobster and when it arrived the drwan butter had been spilled all over the plate. When I asked for a clean plate and a replacement of the butter the waiter started to give me a hassel. When he finally gave in and returned the lobster was so over cooked it was like rubber, A big no no in the mind of New Englanders. Needless to say we won't be retuning there. The other place is Alfredos. I don't appreciate being sqeezed in and the fettuccini was like wallpaper paste. The waiter tried to rush us out by bringing the appetisers and entrees together. Give me BlueZoo and Palio's any day.

I am so disappointed about Tony's Town Square! Was kind of looking forward to some simple Italian with my 4 and 6 year old--thinking at lunch time or something. Thanks for the heads up!

You might try Mama Melrose's at MGM. It's not the best Italian I ever had in my life, but it is much cheaper and I even think a little cuter. I wish Tony's was a little more full of "theme".
