young teens and scary movies

Do your 12-14 year olds love watching thrillers? My DD13, and most of her friends, like to rent scary movies and cringe on the couch while watching them. When "The Ring" came out, they were obsessed with it. I can't count the number of times they watched it.

I'm usually okay with these movies, except for the real slasher type, like Freddie Vs. Jason. How many of you have young teens who love watching scary movies?

Nope. I live in a house of horror haters. I have to watch the stuff by myself, in the dark.

We all like scary movies (well the 2 youngest are not allowed to watch them, they are 4 and 2). We actually have a hard time finding scary movies that are scary. My 2 oldest saw Freddy Vs Jason. They said it was funny.

I don't have a teen, but when I was a teen I loved them (still do). I remember when I turned 13 my mom let me have a sleepover party. I rented Happy Birthday to Me and I ended up watching it by myself (everyone else was scared). I loved it, sitting in the dark alone watching those movies.

No, she is not interested. Neither am I. My sister, on the otherhand, can't get enough of them. She's 54.

I let my little kids watch them. They don't get scared very easy and I think it has made them less frightened in general. DH and I are huge horror fans and both my kids too, guess it is in the genes!

I guess it depends on the kid though. Like neice obsesses over things she sees, she is 12. There is no way I would let her watch anything like that.

It depends on the movie. We did watch Freddy V/S Jason and J.C who is 12 laughed all the way through it. He said it was corny of all words.

He would rather watch The Lizzie McGuire movie a zillion times.

I loved horror flicks as a teen. I still enjoy them, although the past few I've seen have been stinkers. My kids don't watch horror movies yet but they do watch my Buffy and Angel DVDs with me.
