When I picked up our mail today I didn't realize how dumbfounded I was going to end up looking. I'm sure my neighbors thought I was nuts or something..........please let me explain.
Back in November, some of you may rememer that my DBF and I went on the Disney Villains cruise
. Way back in November 2004, just to get the timeline in place. Now let's set the way-back machine to November 16th, the day we docked at Castaway Cay. Everybody with me so far? Good.
We were in the middle of an extended vacation and DBF's mom was 'baby-sitting' our four legged furrie children, Rocker and Hazmat (another loooong story goes with his name, but he earned it, believe me
). Anyway, getting back to my story, DBF and I decided to mail Mom a postcard from Castaway Cay, so we bought the postcard, went to the post office ON the island and slapped 55¢ postage on that puppy. We then handed the postcard with message and postage to the nice gentleman standing behind the counter. We figured it would beat us home since we weren't returning to CA until Nov. 29th, so we promptly forgot all about it.
Well, when we got home Mom had already left to go back to her house, so we thought nothing of her not thanking us for the lovely postcard she got from the Bahamas. Then another WDW trip, Christmas, New Years, a case of bronchitis for DBF and a case of pneumonia for me hit, 1-2-3-4 between Dec. 8 and Dec. 31. By now the postcard was little more than a fond memory.................distant memory that is.
So imagine my surprise when I opened our mailbox this afternoon and found the following item mixed in with the rest of the mail:
DBF, DBF's mom and I all got a good laugh out of the speed with which the snail mail from the Bahamas moves.
Now I have a favor to ask. Will someone who's going on a cruise this summer PLEASE get us a Castaway Cay postcard, so we can send it back to CC with someone else on a September cruise? That way it MIGHT just arrive in CA in time to beat us home this coming November.........ahh never mind. I just remembered that 'Mom' is moving to Iowa this summer. We'll just blame it on the Iowa Post Office
