I am stumped about the mystery picture -- Dinoland?

And I like your idea about 1 year on/1 year off regarding staying on vs. off property. The problem is we own a timeshare condo - it almost seems wasteful to stay on-property when we have an almost fully paid week off property sitting there... kwim? But I have been bitten by the Disney on-property bug... I guess we'll just have to sell it and buy DVC like someone I know.

Is it hard to get out of your current timeshare contract? I think I remember you talking about this 1 time before. I'm sure you can stay off for less and have the smae space as DVC...but after 6 trips on...I don't think we'd ever consider staying off, even for savings.

We checked in at Tusker House, had the mandatory group picture taken (which we didn’t buy) and were seated quickly. We hit the buffet, hoping to get back to our table before the characters started making their way around. The food was really good!! However, the interaction with the characters was just so-so… they seemed pretty rushed.

bummer even at 8 am in the morning? so am I thinking correctly you would recommend going or eating here again? it's on my pre-pre list for 010

I thought of mousescrapper & MRYPPNS and the autograph book page holder open thingys they made. Next time…

it worked really well for us, except the character explosion in DHS...and the Evil Queen was a bit unpatient w/ us slipping it off and flipping the page.

I was thinking pre-park Tusker House, but I'm leaning toward Crystal Palace...

I skipped the KP stuff because I want it to be a surprise. So I'm not sure what these Fandex things are...but if they are full of facts about Presidents and Star Wars my boys are going to be ALL OVER those!

Amy, Alex reminds me so much of my DS7. Like I mentioned before, we don't have anything diagnosed, and I'm not sure he would even fall on the spectrum, but like Alex he is really good at math and spelling (things he can memorize) and not so good at things like reading comprehension. He LOVES facts and LOVES the Presidents. He's a bit obsessive about the things he really likes. And he does have occassional break downs when something unexpected happens or he doesn't get his way. It's interesting to me to see Alex's view of everything.

We have an ADR for Tusker House this time too. We always did the breakfast at Retaurantasaurus and it's always been one of our favorites. Our ADR is 9:25 and the park opens at 9:00, but the CM gave me the "before the park opens spiel", so I'm hoping we can get in a few minutes before the park opens. We are supposed to be at least 15 minutes early, after all.

Can't wait to find out what the mystery picture is!

Nope... not a Chevy dealer. Not a gift shop either.

I wish there were a contract to get out of... we own the timeshare outright and it's the kind you own forever. We could sell it, but it actually isn't worth very much becaue there are so many available and ours is off-peak time. We pay about $350/year for maintenance fees & taxes and about $150 to make a trade so it can be REALLY inexpensive for us to stay in a 2BR condo in Orlando. We've had a lot of luck trading it for weeks in Orlando but haven't had much luck trading it for anything else. We are part of Interval International (which includes DVC resorts, but our home resort is ranked too low to qualify for a DVC trade). My hope is that our resort will continue to move up the ladder in the rankings and some day we'll be able to trade for DVC.

I'm not home right now (sitting in the waiting room at Zachary's social skills group) but later I'll post a picture of Alex's fandex. I think they are great for anyone who has a "strong" interest in a specific topic.

Show up early for your ADR... I bet they let you in early because if you wait to enter the park at 9:00 you'll be fighting the masses & dealing with the opening parade thing. The worst they can say is "no", right?

Hey Amy,

I caught your mention of Zachary's Social Skills Group and you waiting-I signed David up for three weeks of Social Skills Camp-it seemed like a good idea at the time-in the spring-when I wasn't thinking about the 50 minute ride back and forth for three hours in the morning...(1/2 day camp-9-12)...

He's already done 2-well 1 1/2 weeks-he got a stomach bug-then he had a break and he has a week to go back to next week...

It doesn't make sense for me to drive home -too long-so I was thinking I wish I had a couple of fandax with my special interest-(Disney anyone ?)-actually there's a grocery store near there and a Starbucks so I have a legitimate excuse to take my laptop in there and come on Disboards...

(Actually DS is all about Star Wars right now...-we've not only watched the whole series-because of his fandex he can tell you everything you want to know about all-and I do mean ALL of the main characters-we will be riding Star Tours and checking out the Jedi Academy and making a light saber at DTD...-we will be picking up the Presidents...it will make a nice addiction to his collection of interests-fortunately he has about 3-4 going at a time-so we can toggle back and forth...)

I am going to have a pre-park opening Crystal Palace breakfast on my list for next time. I’d love to be walking up Main Street in a quiet park.

My boys would have been bummed about a rushed goofy, although they are not "into" the characters as much anymore, he is their fav.

Hi All!! Sorry I haven't been around much this week... we're getting ready for Jeff & hopefully the whole gang to arrive next week and getting ready to head out to the Berkshires in Western Mass. They are leaving Florida at midnight Tuesday night/Wednesday morning at I think they are planning to drive straight through?? Which would have them arriving around midnight Wednesday night/Thursday morning?? Hopefully they'll be arriving at a better time than that, but we'll take them when they get here. Then we'll all be heading to the lake house Tuesday, August 11th. It's really hard to clean/plan for guests plus be planning/packing for a trip.

We've been doing some more work in our basement as part of that. Plus work, play dates, etc. have made things a bit crazy.

I hope to get at least one more chunk of DISing done, get another update posted and catch up on some of my subscriptions sometime over the next week then I'll disappear again for about 10 days.

Hope everyone's having a great summer - it's been sooo hot here this week!

Great Epcot and AK updates. I'm glad you enjoyed your KP adventure! Soory about the meltdown, but they happen and you handled it well!

Teppan Edo looks great! I'll have to put that on the list for our next trip....whenever that might be!

Spectro is an awesome parade...so glad you finally got to see it! I think we sat in a very similar spot and not being able to see the parade coming down the street was my only comment as well!

Cool pics of Wishes from BTMRR! We saw it from Splash, but I didn't get pics. Such a cool way to see it, isn't it?

Thanks for the Tusker House review. We did it when it was Donald's Breakfastosaurus and it was by far our favorite character meal. Too bad the characters were rushed for you. That kinda stinks.

We always go back and forth about CP. I'd love to eat there because it's beautiful and the food gets great reviews. But...my boys are really outgrowing Pooh and friends. Hmmm....it's a tough one. Maybe if I can get Jeff to take me on a trip with just the two of us, that would be the time to do it!

Can't wait to hear how you spend this day. The mystery picture remains a mystery to me!
