My fiance purchased a ring for me this Friday that contains Swarovski crystals. Someone had posted that after some wear their's lost it's sparkle. So I looked it up online, all three sites say not to wear jewlery to bed. Do you take off your engagement ring? I didn't think this was required but I don't want to ruin the ring either. The sites all have something similar to this:

"Never wear your jewelry in the bath, in bed, doing dishes or when exercising. This can cause unreasonable stress and wear and tear. Store your jewelry in the soft pouch or box provided by Swarovski to prevent scratching."

Any ideas? Also any tips on cleaning.

I don't have a Swarovski but I can tell you that you may want to reconsider wearing your engagment ring to bed because you may wake up with a very large hole in your sheets one morning. I guess I toss a lot when I sleep because I tore a huge hole in my sheets with my ring. I know this since I found thread stuck on my ring. Oops...:)

My fingers have always swollen, even when a kid, when I sleep. I never sleep in jewelry. I even remove my earrings.

I sometimes wear my engagement ring to bed but only when I forget to take it off. I take it off when I take showers, wash dishes, or do anything physical or with chemicals.

I was engaged before and wore my ring all of the time to bed. Until I woke up one morning with a big gash across my face from my ring.

I also don't get my ring cleaned too much as it loosens the setting and I don't want to risk losing any diamonds, insurance or not!

I am out of luck, I sleep with two rings on, my necklace and my charm bracelet, they never come off.

And if I had to take everything off while sleeping, bathing, cleaning, and exercising, I would never be able to wear it. :rotfl:

Hum. Thanks for the replies. I was given two nice boxes last week I guess I'll be taking it off.

my ring hardly ever comes off my finger. the only time it DOES come off is when i'm in the shower, or like they said, when i'm doing dishes. other than that, you couldn't cut it off my finger.....it stays put.

I always take all my jewelry off before I go to bed. I hadn't heard that cleaning it will loosen the diamonds, though. Guess it's a good thing that I hardly ever have time to clean my jewelry. :lmao:

Me too...no jewelry to bed for me.....Diamond wedding band and diamond engagement ring included...plus I put shea butter on my hands right before I go to sleep so they would get really dirty.

Earrings, engagement and wedding rings come off going to bed. I discovered long ago that I could not sleep with the engagement ring on - it gets caught on the sheets and I end up not getting a very good night's sleep. DH also takes his rings off going to bed. When BIL found out about this we both got a very stern lecture about how he would never ever take his rings off and they were going to be buried with him and it's an affront to the marriage to ever take them off etc etc. Yeah well good for him, if I had to wear my rings every night I'd be such a witch (with a capital B) from sleep deprivation that I doubt we'd last very long anyway.

:confused3 I have never taken my rings off to sleep. Sometimes i take the earrings off if the posts are digging into my head, but my engagement ring goes everywhere--bed, bath, pool, work. It never occured to me to have to take it off.

I only take off my ring when I take it in every few months to be cleaned and have the setting checked.

My watch only comes off if swimming.

My necklace and earring only come off every few months when I take them of to polish them.

DH and I don't even wear our rings anymore.:lmao: However I do take any jewelry off if I did wear some for the day.

I used to sleep in necklaces and rings, not anymore. Necklaces get broken and rings well I have eczema and that is why I don't wear rings anymore.

I would like to get new sets for our 20th anniversary, we are 16 yrs now.

I alwasy wear my ring, but never sleep in earrings or chains, etc. I have found the best way to clean my ring is using a denture tablet. It seems to work the best! I heard of people using toothpaste as well. not sure I'd would want to do that one. Post of pic of the ring, I bet it is beautiful... :goodvibes

I don't sleep, bathe, wash dishes either in my jewelry, wedding set included. I put on lotion before I get dressed in the morning so my jewelry gets put back on after that. In the afternoons when I get home from work, the first thing I do is change clothes and remove my jewelry before I get started on household stuff. DH on the other hand, never takes over his wedding band except to clean it.

I always take of my engagement ring and my wedding band. I don't want anything to happen to either of them.

I never wear my wedding rings or any jewelry to bed. As a previous poster said, as soon as I get home from work I take off all my jewelry. I don't want to cook and wash dishes with my rings on.

After I got my ring, I would take it off to shower. Then one time I lost it! I figure diamonds are tough - they'll be fine in the shower. I never take them off - just easier that way. Been 14 years or so, and no problems to report.
