Whew!! Just spent the last 20 minutes reading this entire thread from page one!! (who says I'm lying?!? :p :p )

My best friend has quite a booming business going on EBay now. It never ceases to amaze me how much there is to be made there.

Betty Ann & CPL100 - Posting a photo instructions:

I signed up with Sony Imagestation. www.imagestation.com - its a free service and you can also order prints etc. Once you have downloaded the photo from your camera to your PC, size it down small enough so that it is easy to upload without taking an hour to do it. You can create albums etc there too. However, to get the picture onto here then......

RIGHT click on the photo in imagestation. Select Properties. In the grey window that pops up, highlight the Address/URL of the photo. RIGHT click and copy. Then to to the IMG selection above where you are typing your post here (in the vB Code section directly above the Your Reply section). Click IMG. In the Script Prompt window that pops up, RIGHT click and paste the address in the white box and click ok. You should now see a picture of a high flip at UW Madison Bowl Game.

This should allow us to all view the picture of your item that you are trying to price out.

It can be very addicting and really fun once you get going with it.

You can look at peoples kids (aren't you excited):

You can look at peoples cars (isn't ours pretty!)

and just plain old cute items you have saved.....

fa31acba.jpg.thumb.jpg

The first time or two or three it may be a little time consuming but once you have the hang of it, you will be addicted!!!!

I see on the first go-around I have a couple of unavailable images. That doesn't happen very often. Sometimes it is their server, other times it is easy to not copy quite all of the URL in the properties box. Just keep practicing.

And if your photos show up really small here, then go in & remove the thumb.jpg from the line - it should just say .jpg at the end. The thumb.jpg indicates a thumbnail image.

DMRick - I'm totally jealous. I have tried diligently to find sources but it seems like all I come up with are the links where they want to 'sell' you information. Very frustrating. I have a feeling I will not be successful at any wholesale purchasing it appears.

As an added note to the pictures - I am not sure why a couple are appearing so small - when I posted those the first time, they were normal size, like the Studebaker photo. But the directions should help you guys through at least getting a photo on here!

Instead of finding a source you can sell, do it the other way..find something you love and want to sell..then start finding out the cheapest way to buy it!

I want to test out the posting a picture thing...

Hmmm... does it have to be on that imagestation or can it be any picture that's on a server that can be linked?

Well, gee, one site worked and the other didn't. But I know that msn allows picture linking.

Do you guys recommend buying a scale to figure your postage or is there an easier/cheaper way to do that. I know they have these in the office stores, and i was just wondering if it was worth the purchase. I'm just about ready to get started!

I was trying to be cheap and not buy a scale, but after I had mid-calculated the postage several times and it cost me money, I figured I needed a scale. I bought an inexpensive one at Staples (under $20 I believe) and it suits my needs just fine..........P

Thanks, that's what i was thinking of doing. Is there anything else there that would be useful or can things be bought cheaper, such as envelopes, bubblewrap, etc., elsewhere.

lots of scales for sale on eBay..as well as envy's, bubblewrap, etc. I get all my peanuts and bubble wrap for free, from a gift store near my house. Enough for me and to share with two other people.

Wow! I relisted a few items (not enough energy to do any real listings) and by this morning an item had sold already with BIN !! :)

I have a question though.. The last time I ordered supplies I ordered what I thought was the large bubble envelopes.. Turned out they were the ones that are fiber-filled and I wasn't real happy with them.. I used them - but didn't feel real confident about it..

Anyhow - I need to order the BIG bubble envelopes again and can't remember where I got them the first time for what I thought was a very reasonable cost.. I've been looking for the invoice but can't seem to locate it right now..

Any ideas? Obviously I would like to get them as cheaply as possible, but they have to have the plastic BUBBLES - not fiber-fill..

Thanks!

In regards to the scale, I did what others recommended and signed up for the stamps.com free trial of the premium service where the scale and some postage was for free. As I have a finicky printer (and it's a hassle to get your misprinted postage back) I did have to cancel the account. But the scale is very adequate and I did like printing the postage at home (when it did print!).

Maybe at QuillCorp's bargain area, or Viking Paper?

Welcome back to the world of the living!

I'm not "living" - more like semi-comatose, but thanks anyhow!

I have 2 catalogs here - Viking and Quill - but for some reason I think the great bargain I got way back when was from a place I tracked down on the internet.. (Dummy me for not "saving" it!!) I'm too tired to try to research it now so I just thought I'd ask if anyone had gotten a really good deal lately..

Please keep yur fingers crossed that I can get up enough energy to start creating new listings soon.. I have a gut feeling the doctor is NOT going to let me go back to work next week and that will be 3 weeks I've been out of work.. This new guy in upper management is quick with the "axe" and I can just see it hovering over my head.... :(

This is a source for bubble envelopes that has been highly recommended by several sellers on the Amazon discussion board. I haven't used them yet, but I plan to order my next case of bubble envelopes from them. They are the cheapest I've seen for a case of 100 #4 bubble envelopes (the size I always order).Shipping is FREE if you buy a case of 100. That means the envelopes are 6 cents cheaper each than the least expensive source I've ever used!

Thanks for that link - I'll be sure to check it out.. And I always LOVE that free shipping with a case!!:teeth:

Shipping is also free with the two sources I gave (you may have to spend $25..but I always do), and when they have a sale, it's often (more on viking..and the clearance area of Quill) it's buy one case, get one free. Although I used to buy from bubblemailers, these work out cheaper most all the time (all the time for me, since I buy when on sale).
I often get free stuff (front of catalog at Viking), which I can then sell on eBay.
It's worth checking them out. I prefer getting the catalogs from Viking, for the free item and to see the sale stuff.

DMRick, we've probably had this conversation before (cost of mailing supplies is a very popular topic among people who sell on the internet!), but I never see good prices on Viking. For instance, their "case" of #4 bubble envelopes is slightly cheaper than bubblemailers, but Vikings case only has 25 envelopes and bubblemailer's has 100! They must have great sales, but I wish I could find their sales on their internet site.

How did you pay? Your PayPal debit card? You might be able to look back in your history to see who you bought from. Or a cancelled check?

Viking has three brands..check out the case prices and the non brand. If you compare them to the most expensive name brand, it won't be cheaper. However, I didn't think bubblemailers were the name brands either...but I have to admit, I didn't look at the brands..just the prices, I just got a Viking catalog today, and I compared..and Viking was less on that size. However I also buy when they have buy one get one case.

My best buy, and I posted it here the first time I found them, and many took advantage, was in the clearance area of Quill. I did just look, since I got some there last month (4 X 6 1/2 side load for .06 each), but they don't have them right now..they come and go. I also posted when Viking had their buy on e get one sale.

Right now (expires feb 21) a case (500) of 4 X 8 (which is the 4 X 6 1/2 inside) bubble mailers at Viking is $69.86, which is .129 at Viking..at Bubblemailers, if I'm reading it right, it's .13.6. The biggest difference, is I usually buy when it's by one case get one free (regular prices, of course)..then it's 1000 for .106...or sometimes lower, since the actually have them lower than what they call "list".

I have also gotten the free luggage, the free brief case, etc, which they often offer on the front of their catalog, which I then sell on eBay and hey, I've cleared $10 on each item LOL. I also get "special" deals, as a previous client..they send me special prices for the items I buy, if I haven't bought in a while..so sometimes I get the envies for even less.

The bigger sizes, are a penny and a half more at Viking..for the price they are now..but again, I reiterate, I buy them when they are buy one get one..for a far greater savings.

Of course If Cann needs them right now..she just has to compare and see which is the best for her..as anyone has too. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with this company...I used to buy frm them all the time. I think their service is great. I just happen to make out better elsewhere now. But I also buy and store in advance. Heck, I dont' even need insulation in my attic, with all the bubblewrap, popcorn, and bubble envy's I have up there!
