Jenifer, she is just beautiful! How wonderful for you... congratulations.

Regarding how our auctions are doing.... I'm having an excellent week! New buy-it-now's every day, many on things relisted for the second time! I have bids on 3 of 5 items ending tonight (hallelujah - they didn't wait until the last 5 minutes! ;) ), and watchers on several ending Sunday. And I would have had more ending tonight, but several already got the BINs mentioned earlier! :teeth:

I'm planing to list several items to end 12/26... the Sparedollar forum made mention of that as a good day for eBay shoppers... I was thinking to possibly end a few high-ticket items on Thursday evening (Christmas day), on the late side, for folks with money to spend after all the guests have gone home. Any thoughts on that strategy?

BTW, there is usually a free listing day around Christmas... I think someone mentioned it recently but it bears mentioning again. Don't know the details or how much notice is given, but it would certainly be worthwhile to have some listings ready to go!

I'm having a good week so far too. I've got bids on 7 out of 11 things ending tonight. But, it sounds as if I better get some of my things ready to start tomorrow night for that 12/26 ending date. I better get busy on that. I think I'll save stuff for relisting or whatever for the free day.

I'VE GOT AN EBAY SELLER QUESTION.... for my ebaying friends out there. How long do you wait before you file NPB? Quick story.... I sold some books on Dec. 7. My auction clearly stated the following...."I accept Paypal, m.o., cashiers check, personal check. I expect payment within 5 days after end of auction". (of course, I am VERY flexible with that 5 days). When the auction ended the winner emailed me and said...."I received the winning bid on the**********. How do I pay you?"

I immediately emailed back with the information regarding payment options, including my address.

The next day I get another email "What is Paypal?"

I again immediately email back explaining what Paypal is, but stating that if he didn't have an account, it would probably be faster/easier for him to just send a check or m.o. I also explained where he could get m.o.

It is now 10 days later. I have heard nothing more. I have received no payment. How much longer should I wait? I did send that "reminder invoice" about two days ago. Still no response. I sent another personal reminder today. AM I BEING WAYYYYY TOO IMPATIENT? Thanks for any feedback.......P:D

I send eBay's reminder after three days...as soon as it comes available, then file NPB after 7...always. I don't care where they live, unless it's just gotten lost or something, there's no reason I shouldn't have it in 7 days. I make a note on a sticky to file FVF ten days later if I haven't been paid.

I used to be an apartment manager and have heard every story there ever was for not paying and used to fall for every one of them until I wised up. I guess I'm having a carry over from those days, because I go strickly by the book on NPB's. I just don't want, or feel we have to, fool around forever trying to get our money. I've even relisted after 7 days.....

I've only had two actual NPB's though. And one tried to pay after 20 days but I'd already relisted and sold the item.

How can you tell you have 'watchers'?

I received an invitation to join the Power Sellers and don't know if I should do it or not. Although the crow did considerably help my sales this month, I had a good month in November too in which I would've qualified for the program. But, I'm wondering if it would be too much of a downer to lose it after I've had it. Also, I can't see me taking advantage of any of the "benifits" as there aren't really any good benifits as far as I can see. If I knew I could keep it up, I would take advantage of thier health insurance program, but I'd hate to get it and lose that too. Would anyone have any thoughts on this? I know some of you are Power Sellers. Does being a Power Seller actually help your sales any? Are there benifits that I'm not considering?

HELP...what should I do? I sold an item 11-24 to a guy in the service stationed in Germany. It's an APO address so I agreed to send it. Waited on money order until 12-9 filed an alert, no response after emailing him 2 times prior. Relisted item and sold as buy it now. Today 12-18, I received $40.00 CASH in the mail, wrapped in foil!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I send back a money order, I will have to pay for an international, what should I do?

I feel bad for both you and him. I would not have expected any mail to reach me from an APO for at least three weeks. Good luck figuring it out.

Unless you have another item to send him, you'll have to send him either the cash or money order back. I'd deduct the cost of the money order from the $40. The ideal situation would be if you could get another of the item to send him, but I know that's not always possible.

Well, we are still awaiting the 2 payments that I sent reminders on yesterday. The 2 separate packages I purchased with BIN for AGirl items have not arrived. AGH>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

However, my mom found an only slightly used American Girl Data Girl for $2.99 at Goodwill. Off to call AG & see if there is anyway they can email me or fax me a direction book for this thing. Mom figured out how to delete most of the stuff that was there but we want to have directions for DD.

At least something is going right.......And I received positive feedback from an auction 8 weeks ago!

How can you tell you have 'watchers'?

There are at least 2, likely more, services you can use that create code you copy into your auctions, then your account shows watcher activity and more.

There is Baconbuttie, who I used for quite some time, and is free. BB got into some trouble with eBay and was banned for awhile, but I understand the BB account is restored and all is well (at least according to BB;) ). I haven't been using that for a while.

Sellathon is a tool that was discussed quite a bit on the Sparedollar forums, and is free to try for 30 days. After that there is a fee starting at $49 per year, but that averages out to less than $5 per month. For that price you can monitor up to 25 simultaneous auctions for a year. Higher prices allow you to monitor more simultaneous listings.
The info tracked includes every hit on your listing, and tells you the IP address of the viewer and their location, city, state & country. It tells you if the person is watching it, if they are the high bidder, and most importantly, how they arrived at the site (your listing). It indicates if they were browsing a specific category, or if they did a search and if so, what criteria (keywords) they entered, and if they searched only titles, or titles and descriptions both.
I have used this data to change the keywords in my auction titles to get more hits for my character space. For example, I found that none of my hits arrived from searching on anything like MIP, NIB, NWT, New, and so on. Then, I found certain words in my descriptions that were not in my titles, but that consistently showed up when a hit had searched on titles and descriptions. So I, edited my title to include those words, and in turn got more hits when people searched on titles only.
Whew! Sorry to be so longwinded. Sellathon has a referral program, so if anyone would be willing to go through my referral link to sign up, I'd be most grateful. PM me if so and I'll send you my referral link (that is not it below, that's just the direct site).
To check it out, here is a link.
Happy listing & shipping!

I PMed you Joy. This sounds like a wonderful resource!

Tip for all: If you run across any cast iron door stops by them! They sell like crazy on eBay. The older the better. Even old rusty ones. For some reason, they don't sell to high at my local auction I attend so I've been able to pick them up every now and then for cheap..I think the highest I paid was $15. I had an old rusty pig doorstop I paid $7.50 sell for $132.50 tonight. The newer ones I've sold for $20-$30, but they always sell. Just try not to pay much for newer ones.

Thanks for the PM, Jenifer, I have emailed you directly.

I can add to this with recommendations for cast iron trivets, as well. The older the better, though I haven't seen them go for as much as that! Congratulations!

I planned on taking an ebay break over the holiday, my last auctions ended 12/8. I decided to try relisting some items tonight, adding BIN and adjusting my shipping charges (made them lower). I was checking my Andale Counters and already have a bid on one of those items! It's still exciting to get bids! My only regret is that I don't have any "big ticket" items to list, so my earnings will be small. Anything helps though- DH was without a paycheck for 4 weeks and with the ebay money already gone, well most of it (I had made a few gift purchases) I was itching to get some things listed again.

I'm really excited to get started on my bracelets, but they'll have to wait a week or so until I can get the supplies I need. I spent last night drawing diagrams of my design in Excel and calculating my fees. They'll range in price from about $5.25 for a 7" non-personalized to $6.50 for an 8" personalized bracelet. Those are only estimates as I'm not sure the exact cost for the colored beads and alpha characters.

This photo is similar to my design. My bead placement will be slightly different and I think I am going to go with elastic to string the beads, offering a fit for almost everyone.

There was mention of making bracelets for My Twins or American Girl. Can anyone help with the size those would be? I'm thinking that maybe I would throw one in, if I knew a young girl was the recipient of the bracelet, or offer a package of the two. I know nothing much about either "doll".

I'll buy one, Kris. My DGD can never find anything with her name (Autumn Skye) on it and she loves jewelry. Let us know when you start listing them.

 Will that just be Autumn on the bracelet?:teeth: I was going to limit to 9 letters, but it would be possible to add a few more, though it might take away the effect I was going for.
Perhaps I will use Autumn's in my listing - showing the capability to have unusual names on a piece of jewelry, something you can't find just anywhere.

I came home from my grandson's concert to 11 nutty emails form the nut Imentioned earlier. Makes me glad I use my cell phone and a post office box!

I'd deduct the cost of the money order from the $40.

I don't think that's fair. It almost always takes 3-4 weeks to get payment from a serviceman in Germany..I would have waited a bit, or pulled the contact info before selling the item. It's the price you pay when you accept bids form apo. It takes a while for them to get our packages too.
Remember, they may be on a ship or in the middle of nowhere, and have to wait for mail service.

That nut! What does he think, you are a 24 hour Superstore with a team of people who pack and ship, read your email and answer your phone? Come on buddy - Christmas is still about a week away and the PO is working OT.

At least your assured he'll leave the Positive FB. ::yes::

Good point.

She mostly goes by Skye and we can never find that on either.:)
