Denise, I sure hope you are online.

It was working fine last night when I was testing it. Now today when I am actually trying to do a label, I cannot get it to work! I filled everything out (including the email stuff) and when I click display, nothing comes up. Just a blank PDF display page. And I'm already doing it for the second time so I know two emails have gone to the buyer (as I see them in my inbox).

Has this happened to you (or anyone)? I am reluctant to close the window and start again for the third time....

THANKS!Edit: Good Lord! Am I the queen of all things going wrong or what?? At the third attempt it occurred to me to open the Acrobat Reader function prior to making the label. This made it work. Is that what everyone has to do each time? At any rate, I am (finally) heading off the the Post Office to mail out my first three ebay sales ever!

Glad you got it working. I have aol and on my start page I have the shipping assistant icon, when I need to check a shipping price or do a label I just click on it and shipping assistant comes up. If you have aol, you also have it on your start page. Its so easy to use. As for the Acrobat Reader, I think that once you install it, you don't have to keep opening it up. After I downloaded shipping assistant with AR, I never had to bother with opening it up. So hopefully you won't either anymore.

Okay I got a double whammie today and I am NOT happy. Woke up to find the only bid on my JEEP Wrangler($9000) was retracted with only 1 day left. She had that bid sitting there since the 2nd day of the 10 listing.....I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo upset!!!

Then to top if off I got my first NEG today(blew my 100% feedback) and get this,......she gave me the negative because the purse she bought was too small! Well the stinking measurements were in the description!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY can't people READ!!!!???

I replied to her neg and said.."Sorry you were disappointed but the measurements are stated in the item description.. READ!"

I just had to add the "READ"part because I had already given her a positive! This stinks! She only had 1 feedback when I left mine...

BOY I am ticked off!

Had to vent.....thanks for listening

:headache: :crazy2:

I thought a bid was a binding contract. I have like 10 emails from my JEEP bidder discussing the price and other things from the whole week. Then she retracts her bid with the "bid wrong amount" Is there no recourse for this obvious lie?
I cannot believe I made and lost $9000 in one week....

HELP ME EXPERTS!

Sorry to hear about your huge loss mom2smjn! That binding thing seems optional at times, doesn't it?

I have yet another shipping question. Man, I wish the search feature worked!

When I got to the post office, I was told that if I sent something in an envelope, the only way to have a delivery confirmation is to send it Priority. Is that really true? Because I could have sworn I read that there was a fee of .13C vs. .50C with shipping assistant for first class items.

Also, I did have a package which I had labelled with the shipping assistant. When I later read my receipt (after leaving) it does not seem that I was charged the .13C for the first class package. Do you think that means they did not do whatever they needed to do to the delivery confirmation at the post office? Is there a way I can tell?

Maybe this will help you feel a bit better - here is a quote from eBay's bid retraction rules:

Bid Retractions
Bid carefully—retractions are rarely allowed

When you are the winning bidder, you are obligated to pay the high-bid price for the item. As a rule, retracting bids is not allowed on eBay.

Remember that all bids on eBay are binding, except:
Sales of real estate or businesses (see the Non-Binding Bid Policy)
Sales of items that are prohibited by law or by eBay's User Agreement

Exceptional Circumstances Only
There are, however, a few exceptional circumstances under which you may retract a bid. These are if:
You accidentally enter the wrong bid amount. For instance, you bid $99.50 instead of $9.95.
Note: If this occurs, re-enter the correct bid amount immediately after you retract your bid. If you do not place another bid, the retraction will be in violation of eBay's policy and could result in your suspension.

Here is the link to the above info and more on Bid Retractions

So, this person who claims that s/he bid the wrong amount is really bound to rebid. In your shoes, I might email a reminder of the policy. I wonder if there is a facility for reporting the violation to eBay.
OTOH, perhaps this is a red flag that if the bidder is forced to proceed with the bid, you may end up with a NPB on your hands. Either way, it's a lousy situation, and I hope the Jeep sells for you after all!

Just a quick hi to all of you... it felt really good spending my eBay funds at WDW last week! We had an awesome trip and my only complaint is that it went by too fast! I think that's pretty much the same complaint that everybody else has! LOL

BTW, we went to the Character Premier outlet store at the Orlando Premium Outlet mall, and I was quite dissappointed. I was looking for some specific merchandise that was discontinued, and there was none of it there. The stuff I did find was very limited in size selection. Some folks may love it, but with our hopes to find some eBay merchandise and specific items we wanted for ourselves, it just wasn't up to my expectations.

Last June we went to both shops at the Belz outlet malls, and found much more we liked and bought there. There was a Character Premier and a Character Warehouse. Any duplicates we saw both places were priced the same, and they just seemed to have much more. At that time I bought as much undated Christmas merchandise as I could afford, and will now start listing.

Anyway, glad to see that you have all been busy the past 2 weeks, and also glad to see C.Ann back on the board! Happy listing, everybody!

The description of an item you have bid on has changed significantly.
You can't reach the seller. This means that you tried calling the seller but his or her phone number doesn't work, or you have tried emailing a message to the seller and it comes back undeliverable.

Her excuse would only be valid if she then placed another bid. She is in violation of ebay policy which could result in her being suspended. I would get in touch with ebay immediately and report this....save all your emails as well (as I am sure you already did). Good luck....let us know how it turns out for you.

OOPPPSSS!!! I had left the computer for a little while when I was typing my message, so I see that Mrs. Snowgod has given you the same info. It's true, you may likely end up with a NPB, but atleast you will have made this situation known to ebay and possibly she will be suspended so she will not be able to do this to someone else. Again, good luck and keep us posted on this!

Paypal Question.

I am sorry for all the questions today! I am trying to get organized so that I may ebay in earnest!

Paypal fees have been mentioned here in this thread. Does every transaction garner a fee or certain ones only? I looked through my Paypal account but cannot find any 'fees' charged to me for recent transactions. I deal only with my bank account, though, and perhaps they are only for credit cards?

Would someone in the know please clarify?

Yes, it sounds as though you are set up with a Personal Account and as such, do not pay fees. That is the reason so many people don't accept CCs via PayPal - once you upgrade to the Business or Premier Account, you pay the fee on every payment you receive, whether PayPal payment is funded via CC or not.

Thanks so much for that clarification Mrs. Snowgood. I do not see a reason to incur those fees at this time and with my limited usage.

First Class Flat envelopes can't have DC. They instituted a new rule that states a First Class item needs to be at least 3/4 inches thick. I think that's so it doesn't get lost in the mail handlers pouch and delivered without scanning.

I solve this by adding a few extra bits of bubble wrap so that the package is now .75 inches thick.

Thank you Indigo. I recall reading something about peanuts in envelopes but I thought that just meant so that you could use the shipping assistant and pre-order the delivery confirmation. I misunderstood it to mean that you could get it at the post office. Thanks for that much-needed clarification.

I have recently read about a way to have negative feedback retracted by using "Square Trade." You can link to it through eBay. Essentially it arbitrates the dispute for a fee ($20 I think) but most importantly if the other party does not respond to the emails, it automatically goes your way.

I also recall reading that you may not leave negative feedback unless you have contacted the seller to try to resolve. There may be more on this on eBay in the "community" section.

I am sure there is more reliable and detailed info about this somewhere else - I just read it in a book, either Ebay for Dummies or similar. Do a search on "negative feedback ebay" on Google and I'm sure you'll get lots of hits.

GOOD LUCK!!!

That's just a suggestion from eBay. Wish it was that way, but it isnt'.

If you file with ST and pay your $20 this is the way it goes if the other person doesn't respond:
Step 1, you file a claim:

No Response from the Other Party

Step 2:
SquareTrade Review

After 14 days of no response, SquareTrade will send you an email from which you can request a review of your case to determine if the feedback can be removed.

You will be charged a review fee of $20 which will be refunded if your feedback cannot be removed.

If the Other Party Does Not Respond to Your Case

Feedback can be removed after no response to your case filing if:

At least 14 days have passed since you filed your case;

The feedback was left less than 90 days prior to this case filing;

All necessary case notices were sent to the respondent and SquareTrade received no response either online or by email;
Filer used the same item # and eBay IDs as recorded in the feedback record (note that a separate case must be filed for each item #); and

The item bought or sold must not violate the marketplace policy.

If you paid the dispute resolution services fee during filing then your case will automatically be reviewed for feedback removal.

If you do not pay during filing then you will be given a link to request a review in a notice that we send you after 14 days of no response to your case.

Your fee will be refunded if the removal is not approved.

Hello everyone! I'm very new to these boards, just found them today. This thread caught my eye because I'm dying to take my kids to Disney World, but simply can't afford it at the current time.

I've bought and sold on Ebay before, but to get the funds needed to take a family of 4 to WDW, I'm gonna need to sell a lot more! Any thoughts on general categories of things that are selling well these days? I'm trying to go through the house and see what's lying around that we don't use, but the fact of the matter is, the hubby and I are young, and have only been out of our parent's homes for 4-5 yrs, so we really haven't had time to accumulate a lot of stuff! LOL. If someone could just point me in the direction of a good category of stuff to look for at garage sales and whatnot to resell, I can do the research on all the specifics myself. It's just so overwhelming, all the categories they have! :earseek:

Thanks for a great thread and a great idea! I've been dying to go back to WDW since the first and only time I was there 11 yrs ago, and now, it looks like I have a way to make it a reality!

~Josie~

The search is not heling me find this info, and I'm not sure if specifics were given on this thread. Back in the 60's-70's (page numbers of this thread :teeth: I saw reference to a script to see if buyers are watching your item. Is this something available from ebay? How do I get it/use it to see if buyers are waiting until the auction's end to place their bids?

I have signed up on Andale to track how many views my listings are getting. Boy is that nice! It beats going through all of my items and adding to the count (unfairly).

Anyone else having trouble seeing there items on their sell page on ebay. When I go to mine, nothing shows. UGH...I sure hope it gets fixed, I have a few auctiions ending tonight. Now is when my nerves go crazy....Please tell me its ebay and not me or my computer....

Good Morning! :teeth:

Here is the Link to Baconbuttie Tools

These tools are not created or endorsed by eBay, in fact eBay has had some issues with Baconbuttie in the past. At one time the watch script had optional logo graphics that you could include in your item description to give credit to BB. Now that part is gone, and the watchscript is set up to attempt to be invisible to eBay.
eBay has suspended Baconbuttie him- or herself, and has pulled some auctions using the scripts that include any references to Baconbuttie.
I'm still using the watchscript personally, and have had no problems with it at all. I recognise that this could change at any time.

I hope Doris may comment on this as she has shared a different perspective and may know more recent info on the BB topic.

This happened a week or so ago also. At this point I don't have anything up for sale (planning to list tonight) but I can say that they items that I recently sold (and didn't sell) are there.
