Do I reply to her that it would be greatly appreciated if she retracted her neg feedback? Or is this not polite?

Wouldnt that cost her $20? Maybe just ask her to "Respond" to say you did refund her the money.

I don't think that I want to leave a negative, because like you said, not the smartest person around. I think they'd just respond and say I was the problem.

IMHO She's already gave you a Neg I'd give her one....not only did she not read your terms she also did not pay you once you explained it to her. BUT like the others said dont leave a nasty comment. Say something like Buyer didnt read that CC arent accepted. Had to file NPB to gets fees back. Feedback is there for a reason and she's already given you the Neg she cant hurt your feedback anymore if you leave her a Neg explaining why. It'll be a heads up to other sellers that she doesnt read the terms and backs out of auctions. You are NOT the problem.....there are thousands on Ebay that dont accept credit cards and tons more that wont even accept PayPal transfers. Its up to the buyer to read the terms before they bid....same goes for shipping they need to read the shipping method and costs before bidding. Having 2 kids doesnt make her handicap or too dumb to pay you through another method. ;) But if thats the case I better cancel all my bids cuz I have 2 kids, 2 dogs, a stray cat, a rabbit, numerous fish and a husband. :p

YIPPEE I sold my first item on e-bay. It was a dvd set and sold for 31.00. Ok now this is what I did, please tell me if I did everything right:

I got the notifiction from ebay that the auction closed and ***was the winner.
Then I received a notice from paypal that I received an instant payment from ***. And I also went to paypal sight and got the detail with his address and it said that transaction was complete.
So, I sent him a e-mail thanking him for his fast payment and I will mail his item tomorrow morning priority mail.
I packaged it up real good, typed out the label with delivery conformation and taped it on the priority box. I checked and he didn't get insurance.
I wrote a little note with the dvd saying thanks again and I wrote the item #on it also.
Is there anything else I need to do before I mail this out.

And wouldn't you know he's a zone 8 for me.

But just let me know if I need to do anything else and if I did everything right, so I could calm down. My nerves are shot with this.

Its baconbuttie Great tool!!

He's having a bit of a problem (he found a security leak in eBay, and he ended up being NARU'd)..so for now, I have dropping his watch code from my auctions. I'm not sure eBay wants it being used, and until they sort it out, I'm not putting my auctions at risk.

I was just about to put the Baconbuttie script in my auctions when I read DMRick's post. What does NARU'd mean? If I put the script in my auctions does that mean there is a possibility that Ebay will pull them? If there's even the slightest chance I'd rather be on the safe side and not insert the script.

I stopped using it too - about a week after I first tried it.. I have enough to do - with taking photos; weighing items; figuring out shipping; writing wordy descriptions; searching for just the "right" category; trying to decide on an opening bid; checking my auctions; checking my emails; answering my emails; sending out invoices; checking my Paypal account; packaging up items; printing out DC labels; attaching the labels to the packages; going to the post office; popping in and out of this thread - and then.............. starting all over again!!

About the last thing I needed was yet another step in the process.. LOL;)

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!! First sales are soooo cool!

Now, I've been doing most of my business with DVDs lately and I send them out via first class mail. They get there just as fast as Priority and they're small enough to fit into a padded envelope. You've already told him you're sending it Priority so maybe this is info for the future.

Again, congrats!!

And wouldn't you know he's a zone 8 for me.

I didn't see the original note..but if you are shipping a DVD..that should be light and can go for the same rate Priority to zone one as zone 8. Anything under a pound is $3.85.

NARU's..not a registered user (on ebay). They shut down his auctions and him. Here is his side..I just don't want to be invovled until the battle is over:

http://www.baconbuttie.co.uk/ebayhole.asp?a=explain

I'm sure he's a wonderful person..he offered this to us for free..but I'm a suspicious person, I guess.

I absolutely respect your decision not to use the BaconButtie code until this is cleared up, Doris, but I'm going to go ahead and leave it in mine, and see what happens. I can't imagine that eBay would suspend all the sellers using or cancel all the auctions containing this code. Wouldn't eBay stand to lose a lot of money if they did that?

I could be wrong, of course, but I'll take the chance, for now.

I'll certainly let you all know what happens, if anything.

Wouldn't eBay stand to lose a lot of money if they did that?

Although I haven't found anything in the actual rules, I've always wondered if eBay approves of the code on their auction site, and it's been much discussed. I know most people on another site have removed it..and since I didn't feel particularly comfortable with it there, and I also saw no correlation between how many watches I had and sales, this was an easy decision for me.

eBay seldom makes sense when they stop an auction..I had a pile of mine stopped when someone reported I was keyword spamming..and yet all I said was the matching "item" could be found here, and I had html pointing to my other auctions. Yet I see others doing the exact thing. It's not enough benefits to me, to have to give it another thought or worry..so bye bye it went. Of course each would make their own decision. By the way, a week before they NARU'd Butte..they cancelled his auctions without an explanation. I think you will see him and eBay "butting" heads a bit now. Some people think Butte hacked into eBay's system in order to find the "hole". That too makes me just a bit uneasy, even though it's prob not true.

I am fed up!! I have ten buyers who still haven't paid. Some from 10 or more days!! I have sent reminders to everyone and then on Sunday if still no payment or at least a hey I am sorry I forgot, I will be filling NPB on them. UGH!! I took this week off from listing in hopes of catching up on things but so far I am not any better off then I when these auctions ended!! UGH!!

sorry I just needed to rant!

Has the seller answered any of your emails yet? If not, you might want to pull his/her contact info and give them a call..

You also didn't mention where you are - and when the seller is located.. I once sent a book to Georgia from upstate NY.. Good luck - and I hope it arrives soon if you're not able to make contact with the seller..

Ugh C.Ann........I pulled his contact info..and we live in the same AREA CODE!! Shheeeessshhh!
Now it is almost 4 weeks, should I call? What the heck do I say...I am not good at this at all!

I wish the man would just answer his emails!

The person is in your same AREA code? Then yes - I would call.. Just try not to sound defensive right at the get-go because you don't know "who" you're dealing with.. Simply make a very polite inquiry..

And please let us know how it works out - okay?

Well I sold my first 2 items last night. One paid instantly and his item is already mailed. The other one I didn't here from yet, but its still early. She's got 10 days from auction closing. I messed up on shipping with that one. I did a flat rate of 8.00 shipping and according to her zip, it'll cost around 10.45 and if she wants ins. its 1.30 more. Then I'll put a dc so thats more too. Oh well, this was my first time at selling, so hopefully I'll learn to calculate shipping costs more better. I'm afraid that if I charge too much for shipping the buyers will complain and if I charge too low, it ends up costing me. Plus being I'm a newbie at this, what I'm not sending priority, I had to buy boxes, tape, bubble wrap, so as of right now, I really didn't make any $$ yet. I also listed 4 more items last night and got a bid on 2 already, so I'm pretty happy with that. I just hope that whoever wins, lives in a closer zone. The first 2 auctions that won live in zone 7 & 8 from me. Anyway, wouldn't you know that I'd sneak a question in here: I put down USA bidders only, but with my luck, I'll get someone from Hawaii or Alaska that wins, then my shipping costs will be huge. How do you figure on costs to those places if you do a flat rate. I'm too new to try to do actual shipping, thats why I do flat rate. Any suggestions on how to conquer the shipping costs. Again, I don't want to make money on the shipping, I just want to break even..TIA (again)

Is anyone else having problems accessing Paypal? I can't even get to the main page? I have a payment that was made by e-check and should clear today. I want to get it shipped today if I can because of the holiday on monday but if I can't get into paypal then I can't even check on the status. This is the first time somebody has paid with an e-check for one of my auctions too and I didn't know if paypal would send me a notice or not when it clears?

Thanks!
Vicky:(

Being that Hawaii and Alaska are part of the US the most they will be to ship is a Zone 8. I had a purchase from someone in Alaska and my shipping estimate (to zone 8) was right on.

avdeane...yes Paypal will send you an e-mail telling you it has cleared. I have had two people pay that way.

momof2OH...thanks for the info on receiving confirmation for an e-check clearing!! Very much appreciated!

dg39...I have tried accessing through my ebay account, through my links, went to people's listings and the links aren't even showing up. Message boards at both ebay.com and ebay.ca (Canadian) are showing that others are also having problems. Some have called paypal and they claim there isn't a problem on their end. When it involves many different computers and servers you know the problem must be from their end!!
