I want to preface this by saying this is a serious question and in no way do I want to try to do something unethical, I just honestly don't know the answer to this and maybe someone else does.

Can I ship Disney Kid Clips via Media Mail?

I want to save as much money as I can and I just wondered since they are "music" if they would fall under the same category as CDs. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions for me about my dilemma with a seller (see long post a few pages back) I would really appreciate any input.

Thanks,
poober

She says that she will refund AFTER she receives the item.

I would not refund, unless I got the items back (just like Walmarts, Sears, etc), so I don't think she is out of line. Since you can't use it as she advertised it, you only have the shipping to lose by returning it..it's useless to you. I hope you can stuff it in an envelope ot keep the shipping down. Apparently, the seller never looked at the tag.

Although I would refund the shipping both ways if it was my mistake, as this was, don't be surprised if she doesn't..so you might want to make that clear up front.

I can't help you with the Disney clips, since I don't know what they are..but the post office defines media mail as follows..see if it falls under their criteria:

Media Mail
Generally used for books (at least eight pages), film, printed music, printed test materials, sound recordings, play scripts, printed educational charts, loose-leaf pages and binders consisting of medical information, and computer-readable media. Advertising restrictions apply. There are presorted rates available for bulk quantities of Media Mail (minimum quantity is 300 pieces). There is also a barcoded discount available for Media Mail.

So wouldn't a KidClip be considered a "sound recording" and therefore be ok to ship via Media Mail?

Lori

I was thinking sound recording too, so I guess I will ship Media. Also, can you insure Media Mail?

DMRick,
Thanks for your advice. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do, but it's good to have an opinion.

This is for Canada, not the US.
lilsonicfan:

You have to log into the e-Bay Canada site or if you use an auction helper make sure it is set to post on the Canada site.

Hi, thanks for the reply. The email I received said that it would be a Penny Gallery week for items listed on ebay.ca (1 CAD penny) AND ebay.com (1 US penny). I guess there was an error somewhere.

.

I don't see why you can't insure media mail. I know at my local PO, I've been asked to upsell at lot with insurance. I do mail some things media mail, and it does take longer. The insurance wouldn't be a bad idea

Okay "vets" - I have a question. One of my auctions ended late last night with only one bid. This item was already a relisted item. In the description I clearly stated that there was a part missing. This morning the winner emailed me to say he/she "missed" that part in the description and doesn't want the item now.. How do I handle it?

------------

On the upside though, last week I bought a big box of items in a garage sale (84 items to be exact) for a flat amount - which ultimately worked out to be 3 cents a piece.. I'm slowly getting them listed in "lots".. Right now I have a lot of 3 offered in an auction (total cost to me equals 9 cents) and the bids are up to almost $9 now - with another day or two left on the auction!! Put a lot of 5 up yesterday (total cost to me equals 15 cents) and already have a bid of $4.50 and the auction doesn't close till the weekend.. Now I'm thinking that buying at the garage sales when I ALREADY have a house full of junk isn't such a bad idea after all!!!!! LOL

Guess where I'll be going Friday, Saturday, and Sunday???????? ;)

Good job on your garage sale finds C. Ann! I've done that as well for myself!

Now, I have a quesiton for any other Ebay experts.

I found a great lot of sports magazines (specifically football) from the 50's, to the 60's. (1951-1967) to be exact. Some have recaps from the first Super Bowl, and World Series with Lou Gehrig.

We've done searches, on current and completed items on these and nothing is coming up. It is a sports magazine that isn't in publication anymore.

Is it better to auction these in a lot, (there are 7 of them) or indivicually?

Thanks!

Have you looked up whichever sports personality or team is on the cover? Such as Lou Gehrig try this and this for completed auctions.

Yes I did. One Gale Sayers, does well, and we may do that one separately.

But the others, are mostly college stars, which some did eventually turn pro... (Merlin Olson, Fran Tarkenton, and some others). Some are All-American team )

I'm guessing back then college football was a bigger deal. (Well in my area, college football isn't that big of a deal..!)

Anyway, I still haven't decided what to do.

Be sure to check out the ads...you may get more by carefully taking apart the magazine and selling the ads.

CAnn..the items you have up in lots are great. I paid full price for mine LOL!! I considered bidding on yours, but I don't use mine and should be selling them!!

Do you want me to continue to save you packing material such as the plain packing paper and the air bubbles (assuming we'll meet), or are you all set?

You have two choices..one may earn you an undeserved neg:

You could write her and tell her your description was correct, so you have no choice but to report it as a non paid for auction..she'll get a black mark. Or you could tell her you will report it as an auction you both agreed to disolve...no black mark there. There is a third way too..you could tell her if she sends you the listing and end of auction fees, you will just relist it yourself.

Really? I wouldn't have thought of that. There actually aren't many ads either, the last two to four pages of each magazine.. and thats all! (Sure beats the magazines of now, more ads than stories)

DMRick, you bring up a good question.. regarding ads. Would these be sellable? I was debating throwing these away.

When we bought our house, a desk was in the basement. The former owners took everything out of the desk, but a few old ads/receipts.

One of them is a Craftsman tools receipt from 1962, (with stamps/maybe green stamps? Its before my time) some old exercise equipment instructions, and some instruction books for old garden equipment materials?

How would you classify those? What category would you like them? The craftsman, I guess Vintage Craftsman ... but I don't know. I've not seen anything like it.

And thanks for your help with shipping assistant, and all that. The DC was much cheaper!

Very sellable..remember, paper goods can't be remade, once they are in the dump. We got over $36 each for old tractor catalogs, and over $25 each for old hardware store toy catalogs. We have old war year Collier mags, that we wanted tosell intact, until we started looking at what the ads got on ebay.

I've seen receipts from doctors attending births, and all sorts of others on eBay..they fetch decent money. Although to me 1962 isn't very old (and I think green stamps are still around, and I know there are people who collect them for collectable sense) it obviously is to someone born more recent than I LOL!

DMRick, what is the best way to get the ads from the magazines? I made a sympothy buy at a yard sale on Friday (the lady cried about her Dad!) and ended up with about 50 older (50's - 60's) Field & Stream mags. After checking ebay, they don't seem to be worth anything. Maybe I can do something with the ads. Thanks for any help.
Susan

Thanks for the help... I will research the ads.

Funny you should mention greenstamps... I've never seen them in my life (I'm 32). I know that they were around, but never saw them... maybe this region didn't do it as much, I don't know...

I just wasn't sure what to do with this stuff from the desk. I mean, we got it for nothing.. and it was found..

The look on my DH's face when I said "lets ebay this stuff" was priceless... he's the one that wanted to throw it out! I'll research it and then show him. Then I could say, you wanted to throw away THAT!

what is the best way to get the ads from the magazines?

You need to take apart the magazine very carefully. Don't worry if the side on the inside is a little jagged..although I cut them nice and straight..they will sell even if jagged. I buy chipboard (don't buy it off ebay..it's too expensive) which is the gray stuff on the back of a 8.5 X 11 notepad from places that cater to printers (Xpedx, Kelly Paper, etc) or the heaviest cardstock I can buy, and put it in clear envie's from www.clearbags.com (size B118). That's how I take their pictures and sell them on eBay. I used to have a list of which ads did the best, but I can't put my hands on it. Of course any car ad does well.

I wanted to thank everyone for their responses as to whether Kid Clips could sent via Media Mail. It actually was cheaper to ship it First Class, though. Again, thanks.
