husband signed me up for paypal the other night and put me as accepting e-checks. What is this exactly?

e-checks means that people can pay you from their checking account. You then wait until Paypal tells you it has cleared into your account and then you ship. I didn't even know they make that a choice now..in the past, I think we always automatically accepted them. Why not, we don't ship til it clears.

Got a question....Is is okay to resell some Avon nail polish that is brand new? I just got 4 new bottles last week from Avon, then DH turned around and bought me all new ones from Mary Kay (which I prefer), so I want to Ebay the Avons that I bought. Just wondering if this is allowed. I don't want to break any rules.

Thanks,
Susan

Is this just for the US site or the UK one as well?

Susan,

Unless you're an Avon Rep., it is fine for you to sell the polish. I'm a Longaberger consultant and cannot sell anything that is in our current line, but can sell retired products - that's why I said unless your and Avon Rep. (don't know their policies though). Anyway, you can sell just about anything you can think of to sell on ebay! There is a section about their policies on selling that you can read to learn all of their rules/regulations.

Can anyone anwer this for me?

It's been so long since I signed up, I can't remember. However, they answer inquiries pretty fast on their site, if you email them form the site.
Sorry I couldn't help.

Quite a few posts back someone mentioned a program that would let you view the sellers negitive feedback without wading through all the other feedback. I wondering if anyone can post the link again.

Thanks,
Susan

I think that this has already been answered, but wading through 60 pages is kind of hard, so here goes again. When you have an item that doesn't sell, when do you relist? immediately? or do you wait a day or two? I had a few out of 15 that ended yesterday & today that didn't sell & I thought that I could take advantage of the 1/2 price listing, surprisingly my baby mickey & minnie plush dolls didn't sell. I figured they would be the 1st ones gone. Do you think it is possible that there might be some people in the world that are not disneyholics? Please say it aint so!;)

That's another of those who knows questions, I'm afraid LOL. I sometimes relist right away, and sometimes I wait..for no reason, just depends on what I"m doing at the time. I've seen no way that is better than another.

The problem with listing when eBay has a listing fee special, is everyone puts up tons of cheap stuff, and your item might get lost in the shuffle. So while you will save .15, you have to decide if you want your item up when total amount of auctions is high. Of course another way to look at it, is maybe some of those listers will look around when they are done listing, or maybe knowing it will be a really large amount of new auctions, more people will look. Or maybe, your stuff will get lost in the shuffle LOL!
I know on my other boards, that we all expected eBay to have the traditional free listing day in June, so many had thousands of auctions ready to go..and all they are giving us is .15..and then the discount was only on $9.99 or less : (

I'm surprised, too, everything I posted with the word "Disney" sold for WAY more than I expected! Which is awesome because my son has a Disney collection that is incredible and he's bored with it!

I wonder if the relist will include the discounted rates? I have only had to relist twice and both times I relisted immediately. Who knows, sometimes the right person looking for your item just wasn't online that week! I had an item that didn't sell the first time around and got a bid the first day on the relist! Who knew!

I remember someone posting earlier that they were a Powerseller. This is my goal. I got almost halfway there my three weeks and I intend to make it soon!
:teeth:

Okay, FIRST problem!

I just got an email from a customer that I sold two lamps to last week. I went out of my way to make sure the lamps were OVER protected, bubble wrapped and insulated. I also added insurance to the package.

Well, he just told me one arrived with the neck broken???? The neck is metal and screws in so I asked him to try to screw it tighter. If this doesn't help, what'll I do? He said the protective wrapping was still intact but the neck was "broken"....

What are my options if it doesn't work? HELP!
:p

If you insured it, tell him to save all the packaging, as he'll have to show the postoffice and fill out the insurance form. Or maybe it's you who has to fill it out. I've been lucky and the only thing I lost was run over by the mail truck and they paid for it.

I'm a power seller, but I will be losing that this summer, as my July and August will be non existant, and then I have to keep the over $1000 for an average for three months in a row (not counting shipping of course). So I'll get it back in December and have it for a few months again. I'm never sure if it's a good thing or not. Some people post they won't buy form power sellers..but someone is sure buying LOL. The only thing I get from it is 24 hour email service, which eBay has always been good at anyway. No phone calls, since Im not a "high" enough power seller. But then I don't have any problems I would need to call them for so far LOL!

My first auctions just closed. Three sold and one didn't. Two sold to the same bidder. Should I contact the bidder and ask if they want to combine shipping? (easier for me) or wait until they contact me about it?

I will be very nervous until the package is received and I get my positive feedback.

I knew you had to be one with your volume, Doris! Why in the world won't people buy from Powersellers? I would think they had the kind of experience I'd want to do business with.... go figure???

I'm waiting to hear from this guy, hopefully it works out okay. I will tell him to hold onto the packaging and stuff in the meantime. Thanks for the info!

I want to list some things tonight but I'm waaaay too tired.. :(

As for relisiting - I usually do it right away or very shortly thereafter and 9 times out of ten, the item sells the second time around.. I really think there are people out there that just don't have a chance to browse ebay every single week..

Geesh, you did nothing wrong (although I would keep all records of sales for a year..just in case of income tax problems..but of course, normally, you wouldn't even have had that copy of the money order...so this is still not to say you did anything wrong..you didn't!).
Guess maybe that postal worker learned from this..to pay attention. If she has the info, I'm sure in someway, it's traceable. She only has herself to blame, and while it was just a mistake, the mistake was hers, not yours, she has no right to try to make you feel guilty.

Thanks DMRick and Mermaid02. Your kind words help me realize I shouldn't feel guilty.
However, I must say that today I went to a different PO. ( I am about 1 mile from 4 or more other PO's)

When you send your end of auction notice to him, (I send mine out next time I'm on the computer after I get notice from eBay) I would just say something like, as long as these are shipping to the same address with zipcode (whatever ebay says it is) the combined shipping cost is (whatever it is).

Why in the world won't people buy from Powersellers?

Some people (not me obviously) think that most PS are too automated, and that they deal in quantity and not in quality. Some people think eBay gives us special favors, like removing bad feedback. It's so not true..or at least I haven't seen it LOL! I personally know several people who didn't take advantage of eBay's offer to be a PS..I didn't last year. I only did this year, because I wanted to see what all the hype was..but I must have missed something..no hype, no advantages that I see...I just know if I want to keep it, I'd have to sell $1000 average every month..so soon I'll be kissing it goodbye..I like to really enjoy my summers, and for me the sales are in the FallWinter.
