Wow, C.Ann those Hess trucks SELL! I wish I had some to sell! I know you saw this one... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3610604944&category=35883 This seller not only had a reserve but my FAVORITE three words...BUY IT NOW!

Ever since I earned the right to use BIN it's been a winner for me. Now I get money daily instead of weekly. Loving it, loving it!! :bounce:

Congrats to lalapodip and wvjules. The first few weeks is like a honeymoon, isn't it? :p

Oh, and my other FAVORITE words:
Notification of an Instant Purchase Payment Received:bounce: :bounce: Oh YEAH!!

CAnn, my sister sells mostly books, but has been selling hess trucks on consignment. I know some are very valuable, and it's important to have the inside foam and all the parts. Pictures are really important too..when I was looking around when she started selling them, I couldn't believe the difference in price a good picture made, for the same year. There are also some that are made elsewhere than the US that brings more money. She did just tell me that it takes a lot of work, but I'm sure you are up for it. That's nice of your hubby to help you out towards your trip..or is he trying to save himself from being sold LOL?.

My sister just IM'd me and told me this:
I even purchases for 4.99 a little price list from a guy on ebay. The list tells what different trucks can go for on ebay. Then the hess.com will tell prices also but they are more than what you can get on ebay.

Well I'm definitely going to have to do some SERIOUS research on these Hess trucks before I list them.. I just looked at the completed auctions and the selling prices vary widely..

The trucks I have are in EXCELLENT condition - boxes are EXCELLENT - and all packing materials in place..

What about the reserve though? Should I use it - or just start at what they have sold for in the past (or a little less)?

-----------------------

Well you nabbed me on the DH thing.. It was the trucks - or his oxygen machine!! LOL

Seriously though - now that he's so sick and can't do anything anymore he wants to make a contribution so that the trip for my DD and granddaughter will be from both of us.. Well - it IS from both of us - because if he hadn't worked hard all the years that he did, I couldn't have bought all this junk that I sell - LOL!!

----------------------

Also, DMRick - you cracked me up with your response as to how I could "thank you" for making my wish come true.. I'll tell you what - if my DD has to cancel at the last minute, I'll drag YOU along instead - all expenses paid!! LOL ;)

Wow! At the Hess Trucks!
My son has the past 6 years worth but we aren't selling them. They are up on a shelf looking nice. I didn't save the boxes though. :( So I guess he doesn't get to sell them when he gets older.

As much as I hate reserves, I would prob use them for these..although if anyone asked me what it was, I would tell them.
Please do your homework..you really need to be careful with these guys. You have a lot of time til you have to have the money..don't rush. Besides, if I'm getting half, I want you to get the most you can!!

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this thread. At first when I started reading this thread (and I've read just about EVERY post) I was excited to say the least. I started imagining all the things I have around the house (which isn't alot as I've been married only 5 and a half years) that I could sell instead of giving to Goodwill or what have you. I've taken some of your advice in looking at what the items are going for on ebay now. I must have nothing that people want because everything I looked up had like NO BIDS!!! Or, there was no listing for the things I had to even compare it too. I don't have childrens clothes or books or even any videos because I have no children. What I mainly have is some Bath and Body Works stuff that is brand new still in the box, some nice pictures, some Very Nice "country" craft signs with great sayings like, "Don't spend so much time earning your salt that you forget your sugar." cookbooks that I don't use but are like brand new and stuff like that. I don't know, do I have a chance? I haven't listed anything yet. I haven't even looked at the ebay tutorial for selling. I'm just discouraged before I start. What do you guys think? I'm open to any suggestions. My husband was saying we ARE NOT going to Disney this year if we don't get some of our bills paid off and I thought I hit the jackpot when I found this thread. I mean I was excited but not now. Did anybody feel this way when you first started? I'll take any advice.
Thanks in advance.

I don't know, do I have a chance?

Did you look at completed auctions? This week people seem to be waiting til the last minute to bid.

When I tried to use it before, everything opened up, etc. I just couldn't get it to DO anything. I've tried it again tonight and think I may have it figured out, BUT, wouldn't you know it, my printer's out of it. AND, I sold my last refill kit that I have on hand on E-bay this week (LOL), so now I have to go buy another one.

Forthe love of Disney...

Don't be discouraged. If I see something that has either no bids or nothing like it.. I am actually encouraged.

We had some pretty dishes.. that DH found in our attic (gotta love what former owners leave behind). It was still in original box from the early 70's, and it had never been opened.. of course, nothing like that on Ebay.

They had the plates, but not this kind, and NOT in original box.. so I just took it upon myself to list and see. I did pretty well, over $30 for just four salad plates. (not bad for finding it in my attic!)

No bids, don't worry, people do wait for the last minute.

Heading off to my "real" job in a few minutes.. Darn! I'd much rather stay home and play on eBay - LOL!!

Oh well - at least I have to stop off at the post office on my way and mail 10 packages out to buyers! Also received two money orders in the mail yesterday and as much as I love those "instant" payments thru Paypal, I also love having the CASH in my hands to stuff in those envelopes!! :)

---------------

And yes - those "last minute" bidders are surely becoming the "norm" now.. It was nerve racking at first, but now that I know it's the new trend I just keep listing away and then jumping for joy on the final day when the bids start rolling in..;)

Don't be discouraged - just list whatever it is you have lying around that you want to get rid of!

Yaaaay eBay!!!!!!

I think those are my favorite words in the English language!

I know I am waiting for the last minute bidders. I have a lot of lookers, well above the average for my items, but few bidders.

My auctions end tomorrow and I won't list anything else until I get back from vacation. I have a digital camera that I can use now so I won't have to rely on anyone else.

Hi All!

I posted my first item on ebay last night!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Only managed the one after reading the sight back to front and registering for e bay and paypal. I was on there for ages! However, quite an achievement since myself and computers are completely in compatable!(couldn't get the scanner working though:confused: ), but i've just managed to sort that one out.

I'm just going to list a couple of dvd's for the first few days just to get the jist of it and then i'm going to move onto some serious listing!

Does anyone think that pictures make a big difference when sellling things like dvd's and videos(mostly brand new)?

Also, I signed up for paypal but i'm still waiting for the password number to verify it. In the meantime can I still use it to recieve payment even though i can't send it?

Also, I vaguely remember somewhere earlier in the thread, someone saying even if you are accepting payments through paypal but not by credit card tnen you do not tick the box listing paypal? Can anyone verify this? And if so, where do you say that you do accept payments through them though not by CC?

Thanks in advance for your helpful info!!!:teeth:

Forgot to ask:

Can you edit the listing after you have submitted it?
Can you add a picture and change ways to pay?

You can edit your listings as long as there are no bidders and there is more than 12 hours left.

For CD's and DVD's you can go to Amazon and find a picture. Save it to your harddrive and then use it for ebay.

I don't know if this is legal or not, but just telling you that it can be done that way.

Don't know what's up with these "last minute bidders', but I LOVE coming home from the slave factory (oops! I mean my "job") and finding that 5 auctions ended - and 5 items sold - as well as having a bid on an item I just relisted yesterday!!!

Someone pinch me please - this money is just too good to be true!!!

P.S. I'll try to pop back in later to answer questions if someone else doesn't get to them first.. Pulled in my driveway and I had company waiting here.. I HATE that!!!!

You can edit your listings as long as there are no bidders and there is more than 12 hours left.

You can add to your auction after that, you just can't take away by editing. Stuff you add goes way to the bottom if only 12 hours or less are left. I prefer pictures, and a lot of people use pictures that aren't really theirs, but I will tell you that if someone does report you for copyright infringement for using their picture, you can be suspended. It also isn't a picture of "YOUR" item, so if there is anything different, it's important to list it's not a picture of the item up for sale. So use your own judgement.

Yeah CAnn!! Good going.

If you are the seller do you leave feedback first or do you wait until the buyer leaves feedback that they are happy with the item and THEN leave your feedback......
I am never sure but I have so many auctions where people have not left me feedback and I am not sure if they are just waiting for me or what?

HELP

There was a question earlier that I didn't see answered. Should you NOT check off Paypal as a payment method if you DON'T accept credit cards? I did check off that I accept Paypal, but in my payment and shipping terms I CLEARLY stated that I don't accept credit cards. BUT, I DO see that in my auction it may look like I accept credit cards at the top. HELP?! My user id is the same at eBay if that helps. THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP!!:D :D
