So my FL didn't benefit my pocketbook, all is not lost. I did manage to sell a few things in the past week. I did manage to sell off 4 things and have a bid on another.

I'm off from work thru Friday and I plan to spend time cleaning out the basement. We've been here a year and a half and it's such a mess. Maybe I can emprty some storage bins and refill them with lots of stuff to list.

I have a question regarding feedback. There was an item that I sold to someone who never contacted me despite me contacting him/her and using all of ebays notices. I filed for the return of final value, but now I cannot seem to leave feedback. One way I tried it said we had no transactions together, and another way said there was no such item, and I forget the other error that popped up.

Does anyone have any experience/ideas about this?

Thanks.

Edit: PS I just noticed that this person is now listed as 'not a registered user'. Is that why?

That's why. Be sure and keep her name near you, so when her suspension is over you can then leave it if you wish.

I thought once suspended a person was forever barred with that user name. I have learned something again today!

Thanks.

I have some American Girl type furniture that I am looking to put up on eBay. I should have listed them before Christmas, but I wasn't planning on getting rid of them yet. But, as I am putting the NEW stuff the girls got for Christmas away in their rooms, I am finding that something has to go.

Do you think this kind of stuff will sell now after Christmas? What about other toys, kids things? Do you think everyone is shopped out?

I want to start listing stuff but I don't know what people will buy after Christmas???

My first auction is going to be closing on Friday. What do I do at that point? Should I send them an email or wait for them to contact me? Is there certain text to include if I email them so they know they can pay via Paypal? Thanks in Advance. :)

I am wondering if someone can give me a lowdown on the prices that it will cost me to put items up for sale... I read the chart, but just dont understand.. I am so motivated to do this, but want to understand the charges up front.. also do they charge my credit card for these charges?? any info would be appreciated..

I always suggest a newbie take the tutorial on eBay..just click on sell, and follow the prompts.

Pricing is hard until you get the hang of it. To list something..with none of the extras it's:

list the item start for $0.01 - $9.99 cost to you $0.30
list the item start for $10.00 - $24.99 cost to you $0.55
list the item start for $25.00 - $49.99 cost to you $1.10
list the item start for $50.00 - 199.99 cost to you $2.20
list the item start for $200.00 and up cost to you $3.30

That's just to list it as a regular auction. Then, once you sell it, you have to pay eBay for the sale:

sell the item for $0 - $25 you pay 5.25% of the closing value

sell the item for $25 - $1,000 5.25% of the initial $25 ($1.31),
plus 2.75% of the remaining closing value balance.

sell the item for Over $1,000 5.25% of the initial $25 ($1.31),
plus 2.75% of the initial $25-$1000 ($26.81),
plus 1.50% of the remaining closing value balance.

Now, if you decide to add extras, they cost too..for instance, the most commonly added ways to list:

10-Day Auction Duration 10-day auction duration: List your auction for 10 days, the longest duration available. $0.10

Scheduled Listings Start your listings at a day and time you choose! Create listings at your convenience, then schedule them to start up to 3 weeks in advance. $0.10

Buy It Now Allow buyers to instantly buy your item when they meet your Buy It Now price. It's immediate satisfaction for both buyer and seller. (Sellers must have 10 feedback rating or greater, or be ID Verified to list with this option) $0.05

Gallery
(See example) Add a photo right next to your listing and search results and display your photo in Gallery View. The Gallery icon will also appear next to your listing title to alert buyers that this is a Gallery listing. $0.25

Yes, eBay will take those fees out of the credit card you have on file, if that is how you set up to pay eBay. Soem people pay with the money they make from Paypal.

YES!!! Lots of girl's got American dolls for Christmas and are now looking for accessories. I bought lots of My Twinn Stuff last year after Christmas.

ok now I have another question  I havent been able to get thru all the posts, so not sure if this answer is in here anywhere, so here it goes... How do I determine the shipping rate?? I know everyone is mentioning zones.. Is there something on usps website that mentions the different zones so that I know what I should charge for shipping??

If you have Baconbuttie in your auctions (a watch program), don't say you weren't warned. eBay has been having a good time the past couple of days pulling auctions. Even if just one of your auctions has a little leftover of his HTML, all the auctions of that person are being taken down.

eBay is also took down "placeholder" auctions..aucitons that were started fake for FLD, with plans to make them into regular auctions.

Are your auctions getting bids? I have one bid over 12 listings. I guess no one wants my sweaters.

I got about half of the basement cleaned up yesterday. I went from two large boxes of trash to 4, and gathered an assortment of items to put on ebay in the future. The half of the area that's left to fix up is the space where we store holiday decorations and other seasonal items like the coolers and some other junk we never emptied when we moved in 18 months ago.

I was so exhausted I can barely bear the thought of resuming my task. But, I'm determined to have it done before the year ends. ;)

I have lots of questions for the seller, but no bids either...

All my 7 day auctions from FLD end on Friday. 13 of my items (out of like 65 listed) have bids and I've got many questions about other items, so I'm hoping for some last minute bidding on those. Overall, I'm pretty happy, the bids are pretty good pricewise and I'll be glad to get rid of the stuff.

Happy New Year all!
Lori

I'm back in the Ebay game. I havn't listed anything in at least 2 months but I have the next 5 days off of work and I am going to clear the closets and storage area. I already listed 14 things and after the 20 minute download from turbo lister I am happy to have things listed!
My goals this year are a Vegas trip in March and a DW trip in October. I wish everyone great sales in 2004!

I just wanted to wish everyone here a happy new year and lots of green for 2004! I'm doing my anual new years eve thing....babysitting. This year I'm keeping my new 6 week old grandbaby. {My oldest DGD is visiting her other grandparents this week.}

I'm telling baby Haley all about how much fun we're going to have at WDW and teaching her to ebay! Her first trip will be Thanksgiving week 2004. I can't wait to turn her into a Disney brat!LOL I've always said this one is my backup for when my oldest granddaughter gets too cool for Disney. She says she'll never get too cool for Disney...I hope not, but we'll see.

I listed 27 items on FLD and only 7 have bids now. I sure hope it gets better than that! I've got a bunch of stuff to list though so I really need to work on having them ready to go by Sunday night.

I took the plunge and joined the Power Seller group. Maybe it will be an incentive to keep my sales up. If my WDW habit isn't enough that is.

To begin with I would like to thank everyone who has offered me help with my first foray into Ebay. So far so good. Everything will sell and some for way more than I would have imagined! My digital camera arrives tomorrow and I'll be listing like crazy!! :teeth: I have a few more questions. Where do you get your packaging supplies? And are there any rules regarding media mail such as weight, size of package, etc? Thanks in advance for any help.
