I purchased a shirt to give as a gift back in August, I sent the payment immediately, it is now November and I still haven't received the shirt. I had no response for awhile, then I got an e-mal promising to send the shirt. I am still waiting.

I also got an e-mail from someone on an item I'm selling, giving a sad story and asking to let them know if the item doesn't sell and maybe we can"work something out". I'm a little leary of that. Just like the lady saying Ny and she lives in Pa. !!! How can you believe them?

I hope you get your refund, it's a shame that everyone is not honest. (And I'll let you know if I ever get my shirt! :p )

Good luck ::yes::

Thanks to everyone who was able to share with me. My problem is not having stuff; lol, I have more than enough stuff to sell for a long, long time! In the past we've had yard sales (twice a year when the kids were smaller and had lots of toys) and now every year or so. But no more! :earseek: From now on it's Ebay for me! I even have the kids into helping me locate stuff to sell!

I am a person who questions everything so I have recently asked Andale about the colors in the 'hit's section of their report. I thought I would share their answer in case anyone else finds it useful:

Andale has added a new feature to the counter page. We have color coded your Hits to designate how they rank in your selling category.

The green designation shows that you are getting above average hits in your
category.

The red designation shows that you are getting below the average hits in your
category.

The black designation shows that your views are average in your category.

Thanks again everyone!

Sally,
Your situation is really terrible and I am sorry about it. I personally try to be a prompt seller and a prompt buyer.

But ...

The best part of this is her listing included a plea to would-be buyers telling them she was selling off her "stuff" because she and her family had been so hard hit by the recent hurricane in NC. Come to find out when I get her personal info she lives in Pennsylvania!!!! How misleading!

Maybe she was hard hit in NC with the hurricane and was forced to move home with family or something in Pennsylvania. I don't know. Just a thought. Maybe I am just naive and like to give people the benefit of the doubt. That could be my problem, though. I gave a buyer the benefit of the doubt for a long time (didn't issue a NPB until the last day) because his eBay name was something about being a Reverand and Youth Pastor. He never did respond to me or anything.

My word! Can you believe this? I just received an envelope with cash in it---complete with coins taped to the paper! Do many people do this? How dangerous!

Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Some parts of PA did experience Hurricane Isabel's destruction and a subsequent wind storm a week later, and much rain as well. some areas have had at least 2 rain events accumulating multiples inches of rain during each.

This does not excuse this seller from shipping an item that you paid for or refusing your refund. Do you use a different id/email for PayPal and ebay? If so, maybe she is not making a connection that you are the same buyer and payer.

Good luck getting everything resolved.

LOL! :teeth:

Not too many, but more than you might think! I once received $80 cash for an auction totalling $77.50 with shipping, and a note that just said that the buyer didn't have exact change and didn't want to delay me. That was nice, and I made sure I put her $2.50 change in the box, especially since she didn't even ask for it!

I have come across a few auctions that include "well conceled cash" in the payment terms.

I don't think too many...but I have received a couple of payments this way. I always think that maybe some people don't have a checking account or don't want to pay for a money order. I've only received very small amounts that way, (under $15.00) but I was amazed. You know it makes me think back when I was a kid and my grandparents, aunts and uncles always put some cash in my birthday or Christmas card....even today, my mother will send my youngest son a $5.00 bill in a Halloween card.

I include cash (at own risk) as one of my payment options. I figured cash is as good as any other form of payment and it gives the buyer one more option. I had one buyer send me cash ($3) for an auction they won.

I remember those days when the mail was safe too! I just didn't think it applied anymore. I suppose I might take a chance with a few dollars. This was over $11.00, though, and involved coins which I would think would tip off a thief.

Good thing it didn't happen. And now that you mention it, I don't recall specifically stating that I take cash!

Watch your "my eBay". Someone paid me for something that she bought 5 of (buy it now Dutch auciton), and paid through paypal and let me know how she wanted it to be personalized. That was this afternoon, I still have not heard from eBay!

I had a ton of stuff go off last night, and it appears all those came, so I got lazy and didn't check. Definately the Christmas shopping started. Of the 27 items that ended with bids last night, 8 wanted two - three more of the same item.

There was one end of auction notice from this past Sunday that never came to my email. All of my auctions ended at the same time since I uploaded from Turbo Lister at the same time, so I knew what notices were missing when I matched them to the listings. I keep a log in Excel and have a binder of printouts for each listing. I'm constantly checking My Ebay and now Andale to see what's being looked at and what has bids. I only list about 20 items at a time so I can manage to watch my auctions daily.

I've been experiencing late eBay notices for a long time now. More often than not, I invoice from the "My eBay" page rather than from the notice from eBay itself. Then I'll get the message a week or even 2 weeks later.

I've even had buyers write to me asking if perhaps I had not gotten their payment, because they get the eBay notice so late. In these cases I have already been paid via PayPal and mailed the item out.

Not the end of the world, but something to be aware of!

Thanks for the heads up on that. I will keep a better watch.

I am just wondering if it's your experience(s) that most people provide feedback. Not all of my buyers left feedback yet.

I've had some buyers leave it right away after receiving their items, and others wait for a month or more. When you are just starting to sell and really want to build it up, it seems like it takes forever, but it will come.

Me to, I've had buyers leave it as soon as they receive their item and then there are some that I sold to that I'm still waiting for. I know that when I buy, I leave feedback as soon as the package arrives. Right after I open it, I go and leave feedback. But now that I'm selling, I wait to hear from them first. I've read too many horror stories on the feedback board on ebay about sellers leaving feedback first only to get a neg. from the buyers for silly reasons, (ex.blouse was too big, item wasn't what I thought it would be, shipping was too high etc) So now I wait.

I've been on eBay since 1999 and have pretty much sold everything in my house I don't need or use. As the kids outgrown clothing I sell them when it's the right season for them. Right now I'm in the process of selling things for other people--my own little business. I charge my customers (friends) a flat rate for listing, packing up, mailing and collecting the money for the auctions. So far it's working out pretty well. I'm charging a $5.00 rate for each auction posted and then I charge a small handling fee so I get at least $6.00 per auction!--30 auctions and I've made myself $180.00!!! It keeps me at home with my kids & it's easy! I'm real picky with what I sell and make sure that my descriptions at 100% accurate! It might take me a little bit longer when I list my items (Turbo Lister is a God-send) but that way the Buyer can't complain about ANYTHING!!

In 550 positive responses I only have 1 negative which happened a few years ago. A woman for Texas had won an auction, emailed me and said the payment was going out in the mail the next day. I waited 5 mailing days an NO check. So I emailed back and she apologized saying she have forgotten and her husband would mail it that day. I waited another 5 mailing days and nothing again! I emailed her back and she said she'd check with her husband. She blamed him for not mailing it and said it was still in his car and that she would send it out that day! Another 5 mailing days later nothing again!!! More apologies and that she was going to the PO right after she sent the email. Another five mailing days later I still had not received anything--I emailed her and told her that if I did not receive payment in 3 days that I would be leaving negative feedback and relisting the item--I had waited more than 30 days after the auction ended and I had been more than reasonable. She told me she would mail it out Priority Mail. I gave her 5 more mailing days and still received nothing. I then left negative feedback. SHE WAS FURIOUS and retaliated back by saying I was unreasonable and that her mother had been very sick and that I just didn't understand. Well, not once had she mentioned her sick mother and always responded to my emails within a few hours--not to busy to answer emails, though... I then responded again to the feedback that she stated the check "was in the mail" several times but never did send it!!! I was furious--the nerve of some people. Needless to say, I have a special folder in my Outlook Express that is specifically for eBay related emails and everything goes in there so that I have proof if something sticky should arrive. Always a good idea to have something to fall back on....

Also, lately I've been getting Buyers who are asking me to throw in a sheet of newspaper in with their auction and then shipping it via Media Mail!!! My mom works at the PO that I base out of & I in no way will lie to her about what's in the package to save the customer money. They can find out the shipping rates right from my auction and if they don't agreed, they shouldn't bid. My mom did get at bulletin at the PO a few weeks ago about people trying to pull off this scam and the USPS has authorized Postal employees to open ANY package on the spot they think might not be Media Mail--the sender would then be in trouble--SO DON'T EVEN TRY IT!

Well, I've taken up enough time--I'll keep checking back and give more tips as needed! Good Luck!

I have a question on media mail. Does the package have to be ONLY media? I received the Finding Nemo DVD from Disney the other day. In it was the movie, pictures, two beanies, and a pin. They sent it media? Is that "legal"?

Also, is there any way of finding out if a winning bidder is from Canada without going into the auction? Shipping is more for those people, and I always miss it. I really don't have the time to go into each one before I send an invoice.

I have the same question as Madi100. I have a couple of items that weight about 10 pound. Out of the 17 pieces included in the one auction all of it are books and movies except for a stuff animal or dinosaur. Can I ship it media to help save the buyer money. I have it set up as parcel right now but would change it for the sake of the seller if I can. There is 1 stuffed animal, 5 movies and 11 board books, can this be sent Media Mail legally? Otherwise, I will keep it has is.

Thanks.

P.S. I just had to file my first NPB final fee reimbursement, how long do I wait until I can relist it? Do I wait until I get my fee back or can I do it before?

YOU GUYS ARE GREAT!!!!! THANKS!

One thing to remember about media mail is that it can take FOREVER to get to the buyer. I sent out a book media mail that I sold on half.com and it took over 6 weeks to get there. It is probably worth the little extra money to send it regular mail.

I did have a postal employee open my package (as I was walking away) after I purchased media mail postage. She said "It didn't feel like a book." Well, I wrapped the book in bubble wrap first before I put it in the plain envelope (not padded). I had advertised the book to be in excellent condition and I didn't want it to get banged up in the mail.
